kaeya was too mature for imaginary friends
by the time he ended up at the dawn winery, he had already seen and been through so much. he did not see the world with the same innocence or naivety that diluc and all the other children did
so when kaeya started seeing caribert, he knew that was not what caribert was
he didn’t mention caribert to anyone, or at least, not at first; but sometimes after bed diluc would hear kaeya sitting on the roof talking to someone, yet nobody was there. adeline would watch kaeya pick up two pieces of fruit and offer one on instinct to the empty air next to him. and crepus would see kaeyas attention wandering to seemingly empty spaces
in all honesty, crepus and adeline were delighted. they knew kaeya, even at his young age, had been through many a hardship, and were glad his mind could preserve this piece of childhood innocence
kaeya didn’t know who caribert was at first, but it became clear to him quick. from the primogem eyes, to their uncannily similar facial structure. hell, even their mannerisms were similar.
in appearance caribert was always a bit older than kaeya, no matter how old kaeya was. it was almost as if he was growing up alongside kaeya
he always seemed to know what was bothering kaeya, and was always there for him, almost as if watching over him. kaeya didn’t know why, or how, but he did know he appreciated having someone there for him. someone who he didn’t have to hide is identity from, and could express confusion about the strange lands of teyvat to.
and when the traveller returned from fontaine with a haunted look in their eye, always looking like they’d seen a ghost whenever they made eye contact with kaeya— kaeya had known exactly what happened.
kaeya is faced with a difficult question
how do you mourn someone you never truly met?
khaenri'ahn fashion: a deranged micro analysis
All the khaenri'ahn characters check out one or more of a set of boxes when it comes to their clothing, and today I want to go over these boxes while we wait for the next khaenri'ah lore update hopefully coming this century
welcome back to the yearly 'clown on dainsleif (affectionate)' hour !!!
previous quest summaries
Every time someone says "Oh Caribert is child!!" I die a little more inside.
NO HE'S NOT. HE *WAS* A KID. EVERYONE WAS A KID ONCE.
His physical body stopped existing because he basically died but his mental state remained. He viewed the world for years yet couldn't grasp and touch it. He's naive to some degree, but hes not a kid. He's seen the horrors, he understood the weight of what life has to offer. Hell, he even technically grew up with the villagers because he implanted himself into their memories. He lived, that's a part of growing up. You learn and mature, the Caribert we met in the Loom of Fate is different from the scared little boy we met in Sumeru. He made his visual body to represent that, as an image to what he could've been had he actually had the chance to age with his physical form.
IM NOT EVEN A CARIBERT SIMPER. BUT STOP INFANTILIZING HIM. The tragedy is that he didn't get to experience the beauty of life yet is still forced to witness the horror of it. That he grew up without the actual joys of growing up. Yet still held in him that kindness and compassion to help those who suffered a similar fate to him.
