Digichoices reasoning
so as yall know, in the Tricoode AU our heros become digimon, but the choices are a little weird at first glance, same with their tricode shards. I have very good reasons for this. It first started off as Wanting to scramble around the triforce peices, as usually Link gets Courage, Zelda get Wisdom, Ganon gets power.
Now with them scrambled we get fun new charictereizations!
Link gets POWER along with his natural courage, this results in a a headstrong fighter, a soldier, which is why I gave him D-brigade digimons (along with D-brigade being a personal favorite of mine). He is one of the powerhouses on the team, being able to clear swaths of enemies with large scale attacks or target critical points to weaken lines. Unfortunately this also means that He lacks any real small scale attacks, making him falter in close range or non-collateral friendly combat. This bleeds into his personality as well, with Λ!Link (i have made the executive decision to add labels) being a bit of a spitfire, real easy to fire up and quite distractable.
Zelda Get COURAGE along with her natural wisdom. This results in a more strategic fighter, able to switch between nimble offence and Backline support when needed. This is why she gets the MEicrackmon lines, as the split lines fit this archetype beautify. ON the battlefield she usually either Buffs and heals her teammates while also providing ranged fire, or is found right in the thick of it using her agility and offensive skills to pick off enemies from blindspots, like taking out guarded supports or a particularly annoying ranged. On the flipside her defense can be lacking, as she is simply unable to take hits that the others would shrug off. Personality wise, Λ!Zelda can be a stick in the mud, and is sometimes unwilling to change methods or tactics if they have worked in the past.
Ganon gets WISDOM along with his natural power. This results in a skilled frontliner, able to take hits and target the right spots to take down his opponents with effeciency. This leans towords a more knightly astectic, which Alphamon fits to a T, as well as being very astetically pleasing. ON the battlefield ahe excells in CQC as well as being a defensive powerhouse, being able to either take down generals and the like or becoming an impassible bastion. This also means that hhe struggles with large scale combat, as his primarilly close range and melee focused arsenel struggles when bogged down by hordes of enemies. Λ!Ganon Is also a very sarcastic and dry person, unafraid of telling you outright if he thinks somethings a bad idea. This can also result in him being a bit of a worrywart, refusing to share the blame for what he deems as "Failures".
Midna... Ima be honest it was originally jsut going to be the main three but then I got to thinking of a final fusion and midna just kinda appeared. She gets the TRICODE of BONDS, which along with her natural skill with magic allows her to have almost complete control over the battelfield, manipulating positions, tactics, and transfering information to hold the advantage thoughout the fight. This results in what i've been calling a Black Mage, casting effects to weaken and disorient enemies, as well as changing the terrain to provide better cover or create choke points. This idea was really kicked off by Orochimon, nidhoggmon, and DOrbickmon. Unfortunatly this means that midna is usually restricted to a backline commander position, as while she excells in controlling the enviormetn and communicating information, her attack capabilities are often severly limited in comparison, usually relying on her bulk to physically thrash enemies when needed. Λ!Midna is also a very energetic and loud person, which can be helpfull in the middle of a battle but not so much outside. She also suffers from a bit of OCD, being quick to spiral and if a plan goes ary.
Now speaking about bulk, i am taking full advantage of the fact that digimon sizes vary wildly. Midna and Link are some of the LARGEST members on the team, shooting up in height quickly as Nidhoggmon and Brigadedramon( and cargodramon) are both massive. Ganon and Zelda meanwhile are on the smaller end, much closer to say War greymon in height as Alphamon and Raguelmon. I thought is provides a neat dynamic that the shortest members become the tallest, adds some oppertunities for banter, as well as just convience if I make cargodramon big enough to function as transport.
As for Λ!HYLIA and Λ!DEMISE, on hylia's part I just like calumon cause they are adorable, and I do want HYLIA to be an actual plot member rather than just a god sitting up above somewhere. She becomes Chronomon due to that Digi's connections to time, as well as Destroy mode being a cool offensive Option. Demise gets the D-reaper cause they both got D, It makes sense as a final final boss threatening everything, and I like Tamers. if Impa or Shiek ever make an apperence in a side story or something the get the renamon recolors.
