I am particularly fascinated with negative space, air, “empty space,” and inverting/flipping themes, so for this project I incorporated walls of numerous spinning squares with spaces between, played with the idea of a plane cutting into organic matter by inverting the situation and having a tree branch bust through one of the major planes, and finally a simple rotation of an angle between a staircase and its barrier that I had observed. My greatest challenge in this project was with the formulation of the general shape and the actual construction of the piece due to the fact that I was sick for the entirety of its construction, but luckily I was able to make use of the space around the hospital I went to, Kaiser, to build my reference base and remind myself to take it easy during the process of completing the assignment; I also kind of hate working with cardboard and hot glue, got burned.
