Man, this new video from omar ilyas hammering in that he hates the romance plot and sees no value in it just irked me. i just need to ventilate why thats not a fair assertion. Ive never once disagreed with him before and when i went to the comments i wasnt alone. his fans, i think very respectfully, disagreed with him.

today he releases this video saying that yes it was the worst episode of the season, disregarding everything his fans said to him. when he doubled down, ill admit it, i was honestly disappointed. Stuff like this doesnt usually hit me but this community is small and it is potent and it has meant everything to me to find a place where i can talk about adventure time. AT was extremely formative for me. I was a lost kid with no support and it showed me how to get through my feelings. Its a rush to be connected to other folks who think about the lore seriously like i do simply because they love the show as much as me.

I dont see what the harm is in just acknowledging "Hey! I knoowww we disagree. But maybe someone out there sees what I see, and we can all talk about it, and engage in our love for AT the way we always have - sharing our thoughts." And instead it was "No, this was the worst episode so far. Also the romance plot is garbage and i want magic world more because magic world is just better. Try to explain to me why im wrong if you like. But i cant help feel that showrunners should stop being so stingy and give me want i want"

Fam its a game of exercising your patience. AT was a show that ran for my entire teenage years. 10-19. You think i was happy about how much time they dwelled over finn being obsessed with love and all the shitty stuff he did? Hell no! I wanted to get to the part where he got to the other side of it so i could see what a person healed from heartbreak looks like. It took them like three fucking entire years! But the show still had so much to say, and despite all of that i thought it was interesting, so i listened. It takes that long because it takes that long. The show is going to have another season without a doubt. Just give it time, man.

Heres why the romance plot makes sense and why i, a person who hated the original romance plot, still find it compelling.

This movie was fucking crazy. This guy who kind of looks like Cole Sprouse wakes up on a table in a modern hospital, and this woman who's a medical assistant of Viktor Frankenstein instantly soothes him and is like, I'm here for you. here. Suck on my pinky. and he like goes to town and she says that she needs to test if he has an infant's latch reflex. And it turns out it's because he's 3D printed, so he's never been alive before. and truly this is this dude's first time on earth, because he doesn't know shit. He kind of just screams all the time. He also doesn't have blood I think and they keep trying to draw blood from him. And it hurts really bad and he starts growing all these cancerous like lesions on his face, and they eventually decide to straight up euthanize Frankenstein, and this medical assistant woman is really conflicted about it. you can tell there's something weird going on between them, because she's like, oh, you're so beautiful. You're great. I will always protect you. Ah, blah blah blah blah and they have this very like mother/Son relationship, but at the same time, there's some kind of weird tension between them that is not familial if you catch my meaning.

Anyways, they decide to euthanize him, and the medical assistant woman is like, no no I don't want to, that's murder. It's bad, it's gross, I can't do it. He's conscious He knows what's going on. And he's learning how to speak. and Viktor Frankenstein is like dude. This is disgusting. Get this guy out of my lab like he's really ugly. And he has gross lesions on his face bro lmao. and they decide to euthanize him, but it doesn't work very well. Anesthesia and medication doesn't work on Frankenstein, and he just like seizes up and Viktor Frankenstein eventually decides to just choke him out and kill him that way, the medical assistant woman is beside herself on the other wall, sort of behind Frankenstein, and he like looks up/Upside down at her as he dies.
