This book took the long way around. Back in November 2019 I reached out to the amazingly talented Gustavo Vazquez about a special cover commission for a Doctor Who cover. Christopher Eccleston was supposed to be at Awesome Con in 2020 and I wanted to meet him with something special. And then the pandemic struck. Roll the clock ahead a year. John Barrowman was going to be at Megacon 2021 and my good friend Steve Kafka was able to get his signature. Then Steve was able to get a facilitator at Dragon Con for Christopher Eccleston's signature. I wish I could have met Mr. Eccleston personally. Get his opinion on the cover, and tell him how his characterization of the Doctor Who was dealing with PTSD really had an impact on me after my tour in Iraq. I honestly believe that's why he's my favorite Doctor. I had met Mr. Barrowman before at a convention and saw him take a special needs young man and make him feel like a million bucks. I watch him take time and care with everyone in line for signatures send pictures and give everyone an unforgettable experience. Not to mention he just completely made my wife's convention experience. It was why I ask Gustavo to add his character to the cover as well. Mr. Eccleston, thank you for your performance. For a vet who is also a geek, you helped me more than you could ever imagine. You truly were fantastic. @christophereccleston @johnscotbarrowman @steve.kafka.56 @gusvazquezart @dailyeccleston @titancomics @doctorwho_bbca @bbcdoctorwho @cgccomics @cgcsigseries @awesomecons @megaconorlando @dragoncon #doctorwho #9thdoctor #ninthdoctor #9thdoctorwho #captainjackharkness #captjack #jackharkness #coverartwork #covercommission #originalartwork #sketchcoverart #blankcoverart #sketchcover #blankcover #passionforcomic #comicgeek (at Crofton, Maryland) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cbn3dRuvJeI/?utm_medium=tumblr
