Ooo can I please request a Steve rogers x fem reader where they’re married and she’s a paramedic and while she’s on shift, their firehouse is close to where the three hellicarriers are crashing down and her and her partner paramedic are one of the responding ambulances, and they find injured Steve after Bucky pulled him out of the water and while her and her partner are attending to Steve’s injuries, debris from the Hellicarrier falls and hits her on the head and knocks her out and she’s taken to the hospital alongside Steve. When Steve wakes up Sam tells him the news that Y/n was one of the paramedics on site that found him (presumably Bucky called 911 so they’d find Steve) and that she got hurt and hasn’t woken up. Steve is absolutely devastated and when he’s healed up enough to walk, Sam helps him limp over to Y/n’s hospital room and he stays by her bedside till she wakes up, only to find that she doesn’t remember anything at all, including him, their relationship, or any of the Avengers and most of her past 🥺 Steve brings her home (after she’s discharged from the hospital) to the Avengers Tower and does everything he can to take care of her and make her comfortable 🥺 She’s really nervous around him and the other Avengers because she doesn’t remember them and feels very overwhelmed 🥺 Steve is very patient with her and gives her space when she needs it, and sometimes her paramedic partner and the firefighters at her station come to visit and Steve takes her to the firehouse to visit too. Steve and the Winter Soldier standing across from each other inside of the helicarrier. Steve doesn’t want to do this, but it looks like that he doesn’t have a choice.
“Please don’t make me do this.” Steve pleads.
The Winter Soldier stares at him with no emotion. Steve watches his every move as he gets a knife out of its holster. Steve takes a deep breath making any moves. Both of them made the first move. Steve dodged the Winter Soldier as he went at him with his knife. Steve manages to get ahold of him and gets him to drop the knife. The Winter Soldier breaks free of Steve’s hold on him.
The fight doesn’t stop there. The Winter Soldier didn’t stop there either. The fight continues on. Steve continues to fight his best friend who’s currently in Winter Soldier mode. The Winter Soldier gets a gun out of the holster that’s strapped to his thigh and aims it at Steve. Steve used his shield to dodge every bullet that was shot at him. Steve knew he had to do something to get his best friend to remember him and he’s going to try his best to do that.
“Your name is James Buchanan Barnes.” Steve says.
“Shut up!” The Winter Soldier yells.
None of what Steve is saying is ringing a bell for the Winter Soldier. He’s going to try something else. It might get him seriously injured or killed, but he hopes that you’ll forgive him for it. Steve drops his shield through the opening on the floor.
“I’m not going to fight you. You’re my friend.” Steve says.
The Winter Soldier tackles Steve to the ground and started throwing punches at him.
“You’re my mission.” The Winter Soldier says.
“Then finish it. I’m with you till the end of the line.” Steve says.
The Winter Soldier’s fist stops in mid air and he stares at Steve with wide eyes. The glass beneath them breaks and The Winter Soldier grabs onto a metal bar and watches Steve fall into the river below. He stares down for a moment before letting go of the bar and falling into the river as well. The Winter Soldier- actually Bucky pulls Steve out of the river and lays him on the shoreline. He looks down at him for a few seconds before leaving. He didn’t want to leave his best friend like that, but he doesn’t have a choice. He has to go on the run.
Meanwhile, you’re at the fire station when a call comes in over the station’s intercom system. Your eyes went wide when you heard who the patient is. It’s your husband. You got choked up after hearing that call. You never thought once that there would be a call that involves your husband. Your partner was about run out the door and to the ambulance when she saw you with teary eyes.
“Since the call is your husband, I can get someone else to come with me if it’s too much for you. No one wouldn’t blame you if you sat this one out. We’ll keep you updated on him.” Your partner says.
“No.” Your voice cracks and then you cleared your throat. “I’ll be fine.” You say in a shaky voice.
“Are you sure?” She asks.
“I’m sure.” You say.
“Do you want me to drive this time?” She asks.
“Yes please.” You nodded.
The whole ride to the river, you were praying silently to yourself that Steve is alive and he’s going to be fine. You couldn’t help but let tears escape your eyes. Your partner glances over at you.
“Steve is going to be fine, Y/N.” Your partner says softly, trying to stay positive.
“I hope so.” You say.
When you two got to the river, you took a deep breath and wiped your tears away.
“Go to your husband. I’ll get the supplies.” Your partner says.
You nodded and got out of the ambulance, running straight to your husband. Steve was still unconscious when you got to him. You dropped to your knees next to him.
“Baby, I’m here.” You say, your voice cracking.
You shook him in an attempt to wake him up, but he didn’t.
“Stevie, please wake up!” You cried.
Your partner got to Steve a few seconds after you did.
“He’ll be fine, Y/N.” Your partner says, trying to stay positive.
You nodded in agreement. You wiped your tears away and took a deep breath. With shaky hands, you put bandages on your husband’s wounds while your partner got him hooked up to the portable monitor.
“The good news is that his pulse and heart rate is normal.” Your partner says.
You felt a bit relieved after hearing that. Now, all you need is for him to wake up.
“You hear that, honey? That’s a good sign.” You say to your husband.
As you continued to put bandages on Steve’s wounds, debris from the helicarrier was falling all around the three of you.
“We have to work fast and get him to the hospital.” Your partner says.
You nodded in agreement. Debris kept falling. Your partner saw a piece of debris falling towards you. Before she could tell you to watch out for it, it hit you in your head and knocked you out. You fell back on the ground, lying unconscious next to your husband. Your partner looks from Steve to you with wide eyes.
“I got both of you. Ok? Just stay alive.” Your partner says to you and Steve.
Hours later, Steve wakes up in the hospital. He was expecting you to be right by his bedside when he woke up, but you weren’t. He only saw Sam.
“Where’s Y/N?” Steve asks.
Sam takes a soft deep breath before telling him anything.
“I’m going to tell you what happened, but I need you to say calm.” Sam says.
“Ok.” Steve says.
“Y/N’s partner told me that falling debris hit her in her head and knocked her out before her and her partner got you here.” Sam tells him.
“Y/N’s hurt?” Steve asks, making sure he heard him correctly.
“Yes.” Sam answers.
Steve throws the hospital blanket off of him and got out of the hospital bed. He had a limp as he was walking.
“Woah, woah. Hey. Wait a second.” Sam says, grabbing ahold of Steve so he didn’t fall.
“There’s no waiting, Sam! My wife needs me!” Steve exclaims.
“I understand that, but at least, let me help you.” Sam says.
Steve looks at Sam for a second before nodding. Sam held onto Steve as they went to the nurses station.
“Y/N Rogers. Where is she?” Steve asks the nurse.
“I can’t give you that information unless if you’re related to her.” The nurse says.
“I’m her husband.” He says.
The nurse nods and looks up your room number.
“She’s in room 707.” The nurse tells him.
Steve nods and Sam helps him to your hospital room. The doctor was checking on you when he got there.
“I’m her husband. How is she?” Steve asks.
“She has a concussion.” The doctor tells him.
“When is she going to wake up?” He asks.
“There’s no telling when she’ll wake up right now, but we’ll be watching her like a hawk.” She says.
Steve nods and sits down by your bedside. So did Sam. The doctor left the room. He gently picked up your hand and held it.
“I don’t know if you can hear me or not, but I’m here, sweetheart. I need you to wake up. Please wake up.” Steve says, his voice cracking.
Steve couldn’t help but break down in tears. Seeing you like this, broke his heart. Sam put a comforting hand on Steve’s shoulder. Your partner came into your hospital room a moment later and sits on the opposite side of your hospital bed.
“How is she?” Your partner asks.
“The doctor said she has a concussion and doesn’t know when she’ll wake up.” Steve tells her.
“Please believe me when I say I was going to get her out of the way of the debris that was coming towards her, but it was too late. The debris was falling too fast.” She says.
“I believe you.” He says.
Steve looks back at you. A new wave of tears fill his eyes.
“Please wake up, sweetheart.” Steve says over and over.
Steve didn’t left your bedside for a second. Sam and your partner tried to get Steve to take care of himself, but he’s too worried about you to take care of himself. It wasn’t until the next morning when you woke up. Steve’s head shot up when he heard you groan. He felt relief wash over him.
“You’re awake!” Steve says relieved.
You looked at Steve with the look of confusion on your face. That look reminds on your face as you looked around the hospital room.
“Where am I?” You asked confused.
“You’re in the hospital. You got hit in the head by falling debris yesterday when you were helping me.” He tells you.
“Oh ok.” You replied. “Can I ask you a question?” You asked.
“Of course, sweetheart. You can ask me anything.” He says.
“Who are you?” You asked.
Steve felt his heart drop to the pit of his stomach when you said that.
“Go get the doctor.” Steve says to Sam.
Sam nods and leaves the room to get the doctor.
“Sweetheart, I’m your husband.” He tells you.
“I don’t remember being married.” You say.
Steve’s heart shattered into a million pieces when you said that. Sam comes back into your hospital room a couple minutes later with the doctor. The doctor ran some tests on you to make sure everything is ok. You still have a concussion. Not only that, but you also have temporary amnesia.
“The test results came back normal. Although, she still has a concussion and she also has temporary amnesia.” The doctor says.
“How long does it last?” Steve asks.
“That depends with every patient who sustains injuries like her, but typically, it doesn’t last long. Till she gets her memory back, gently remind her that you’re her husband and show familiar things like pictures.” She says.
You got discharged from the hospital a couple days after Steve got discharged. He takes you home to the Avengers compound. The Avengers greeted you with hugs. The confusion was still with you. Steve noticed it.
“What’s wrong, honey.” Steve asks softly.
“I don’t know any of these people.” You say.
“The Avengers are our friends and family. All of us live here in the compound.” He gently reminds you.
“Oh ok.” You replied.
Steve is so gentle and patient with you as he takes care of you and reminds of you things and people you already know, but the accident made you forget. He also told the Avengers and called your partner to tell them to be gentle and patient with you.
“I thought you said we were running errands. Why are we at a fire station?” You asked confused.
“You work here, honey. You’re a paramedic.” Steve reminds you.
“I am?” You asked.
“Yes.” He answers softly.
Steve held your hand as you two went into the fire station. You two went to the living room area of the station where your partner and the rest of your coworkers are. They smiled when they saw you. They greeted you with hugs. That same confusion from when the Avengers hugged you is still there.
“All of you seem like nice people, but who are you guys?” You asked confused.
“You work with them, sweetheart. You’re a paramedic. They’re paramedics and firefighters.” Steve says softly.
“I’m a paramedic?” You asked.
“An amazing one.” Your partner says.
You and Steve sat down on the couch in the living room area. Your partner, the rest of the paramedics, and firefighters told you stories of the amazing work you have done in the past.
“On your first day as a paramedic, I remember you not leaving a little girl’s side when her mom was getting her injuries checked out after they got into a car accident.” The fire chief tells you.
“I did that?” You asked.
“Yes. That was the day I knew you were going to be an amazing paramedic.” He says.
You smiled when the fire chief said that. You continued to listen to the stories they told you.
“All of that sounds amazing. I just wish that I could remember it.” You say, your voice sounding sad.
“You will. Just give it time, sweetie.” Steve says softly.
Steve wraps his arms around you to comfort you. It made you feel better. They told you a few more stories before you and Steve went home to the compound.
“You looked like you were having a good time at the fire station.” Steve points out.
“I did, but…” You paused.
“But what, honey?” He asks.
“I hate that I can’t remember anything.” You say, your voice sounding sad and looking down.
Steve gently tilts your head up so you’re looking him in his eyes.
“You will remember everything again, sweetheart. You just have to give it time.” He says softly.
You smiled and nodded.
Days go by and you still don’t have your memory back. Nothing sparks anything in your mind. Steve has been taking care of you day and night, gently reminding you of everything, and always assuring you that your memory will come back to you. One day, Steve remembered something the doctor told him. Showing you pictures might spark something in your memory. Even if it doesn’t work, it’s still worth a try. It can’t hurt to try, right?
“What’s that?” You asked, referring to the photo album in Steve’s hands.
“It’s a photo album of our wedding day.” Steve says.
“Our wedding day?” You asked confused.
“We’re married, honey.” He softly reminds you.
“Oh.” You replied.
Steve opened the photo album and showed you all of the pictures from yours and his wedding day. Sadly, none of them sparked anything in your memory.
“Who are these people?” You asked.
“It’s us, sweetheart.” He says.
“It is?” You asked.
“Yes.” He answers.
Steve continues to show you the pictures, but still, nothing is coming to your memory.
“I don’t remember anything of this, but the dress is gorgeous.” You say.
“You looked drop dead gorgeous in it.” Steve compliments softly.
You couldn’t help but blush. Steve noticed it. The blushing went away after a few seconds.
“What’s wrong, sweetheart?” He asks.
“Do you still think I’m gorgeous even with temporary amnesia?” You asked.
“Of course I do, honey. You’re the more gorgeous woman I know.” He says.
You smiled as you gazed deeply in his eyes. Then you found yourself leaning towards him to kiss him. You didn’t stop yourself. Steve closed the rest of the space between you and him, kissing you softly and passionately. Even though nothing is sparking in your memories, something is sparking in your heart and that’s you falling in love with your husband all over again. The kiss left both of you breathless. You two gazed into each other’s eyes silently for a moment.
“Can I tell you something?” You asked after a moment.
“You can tell me anything, sweetie.” Steve says.
“I think I’m falling in love with you again.” You admitted.
Hearing that made Steve smile widely. He brought a hand up to your cheek, gently caressing it.
“I’m always falling in love with you, sweetheart.” He says softly.
You smiled when he said that. He kisses you again.
“I love you.” You say against his lips.
“I love you too, honey.” Steve says softly.
“Even with temporary amnesia?” You asked.
“Even with temporary amnesia. Just keep remembering that your memory will come back to you.” He says softly.
“I will.” You almost whispered.
Temporary amnesia or not, Steve is doing what he said in his wedding vows. In sickness and in health, that’s what he’s doing right now. He’s going to stick to his vows. He won’t take you and his vows for granted.

You were in a meeting with the Avengers. You gave them your take on how you think something should be done during an upcoming mission and they agreed with you. After the meeting, Steve came up to you to tell you how much he likes your approach on the mission.
“Hey, Y/N. You got a minute?” Steve says.
“Of course. What’s up?” You asked.
“I just wanted to say how much I like your approach of what you’re going to do on the mission and I’m very interested to see how that plays out during the mission.” He says.
“I bet you’ll be surprised.” You say.
“I bet I will too.” He says.
Steve holds his hand out for a handshake as a friendly gesture and a great job of suggesting an approach for the mission. You shook his hand. Both of you didn’t realize that you weren’t wearing your gloves in that moment. That’s all it took. In that few seconds, your powers absorbed his energy and he falls to the floor. You stared down at him in horror. He looks almost lifeless right now. You screamed, which made the Avengers come running back into the conference room.
“What happened?” Natasha asks.
“I didn’t- I didn’t mean for that to happen!” You stuttered frantically.
“You didn’t mean for what to happen?” Tony asks.
“Steve was telling me how much he likes my approach for the mission and we shook hands without realizing that I didn’t have my gloves on and I accidentally absorbed his energy! I didn’t mean for it to happen! I swear!” You say in tears.
“He’s going to be fine. I need to get him to the med bay and checked out.” Bruce says.
Bruce took Steve to the med bay to get him stabilized. The rest of the Avengers stayed back to make sure you’re ok. The Avengers were asking you if you were ok and if they could get you anything, but you didn’t answer them. Their voices sounded muffled and far away. You were to focused on what you just did to Steve. You ran straight to your bedroom and closed and locked the door. You leaned against the door and slid down it, sitting on the floor. You felt your chest tighten. It felt like you couldn’t breathe. You choked out sobs.
“Please don’t die, Steve!” You choked out over and over to yourself.
You couldn’t get yourself to calm down. You didn’t know what to do. The thought of almost killing or killing your teammate was making you spiral. If you weren’t in such a hurry this morning, you would’ve remembered your gloves and this would’ve never happened to Steve and he would be completely fine right now, but it did happen.
Meanwhile, Steve is in the med bay trying to get stabilized by Bruce. Even though you briefly touched him, it was taking a while to get him stabilized. He was hooked up to every kind of monitor there is. He was hooked up to a heart monitor, a monitor that keeps track of brain function, everything. The Avengers were in the hallway of the med bay room Steve is in, waiting on an update from Bruce, but they haven’t gotten one yet. Not only are they worried about Steve, they’re worried about you too.
“One of us should check on Y/N.” Natasha says.
That’s what they exactly did. They went up to your bedroom one at a time to check on you. Natasha was the first one to check on you. You flinched when she knocked on the door.
“Y/N?” Natasha says.
You heard her, but didn’t say anything. Natasha presses her ear against the door. She can hear you crying and saying “Please don’t die.” over and over.
“Y/N, open the door please.” She says.
You stood up and opened the door. You stepped aside so Natasha can come into your bedroom.
“I killed him, didn’t I?” You say, your voice cracking.
“Bruce is still trying to stabilize him.” She says.
“He’s not going to be the same if he’s able to get stabilized.” You say.
“You don’t know that, Y/N.” She says.
“I do know that, Natasha! My powers absorb energy from people and I could possibly kill them. I’ve done that a few times. This time, that person is my friend and teammate.” You say.
“Steve is going to be fine.” She says.
“No, he won’t!” You cried.
“Yes, he will. Steve always bounces back from injuries.” She says.
“He may not bounce back from this.” You say.
You laid down on your bed, facing away from Natasha.
“Close the door on your way out please.” You say.
Natasha sighs softly before leaving your bedroom, closing the door behind her. She went back to the med bay where Bruce was still trying to get Steve stabilized.
“How’s Y/N doing?” Thor asks.
“She’s blaming herself for what she did to Steve.” Natasha says.
“It was an accident.” Clint says.
“Try saying that to her.” Natasha says.
Meanwhile, you’re laying on your bed and staring at the wall with tears streaming down your face. You were thinking about what you did to Steve. Your mind was making you think the worst possible scenarios that might come from this. Like, what if he dies from this or what if he hates you for what you did to him?
Back in the med bay, Bruce finally got Steve stabilized. It may have taken a while, but he’s stabilized and he’ll be fine. He just needs to wake up, which might take a while too.
“Steve is stabilized and he’ll be fine. All we have to do is wait for him to wake up.” Bruce says.
The Avengers were relieved to hear that. While they were waiting for Steve to wake up, they went back to your bedroom to update you on Steve’s condition.
“Y/N.” Natasha says, knocking on your bedroom door.
You didn’t say a word. Natasha opened the door and her and the Avengers went into your bedroom. You’re still on your bed.
“We have an update on Steve.” Natasha says.
“Is he dead? Did I kill him?” You asked, your voice cracking.
“No, he’s not. He’s stabilized.” Bruce says.
You sat up and looked at your teammates.
“What?” You asked.
“Steve is going to be fine.” Tony says.
“We’re just waiting for him to wake up.” Clint says.
“Steve would appreciate it if you were there when he wakes up.” Thor says.
You stammered with your words. A new wave of tears filled your eyes. Relief washed over you too.
“Steve is fine, Y/N.” Natasha says.
“Are you sure?” You asked.
“Yes.” Bruce says.
“Come on. Let’s go see him.” Natasha says.
You made sure to grab your gloves. The gloves prevent you from hurting anyone. You didn’t want to risk doing it again. You followed the Avengers to the med bay. You stopped in the doorway. Your breathing made a hitching sound when you saw Steve in the bed.
“I can’t go in there.” You say.
“Yes, you can.” Natasha says.
“No, I can’t. I did this to him.” You say, your voice cracking.
“It’s going to be ok.” She assures softly.
You hesitantly went into the room and sat down in the chair that’s at Steve’s bedside. You fidgeted with your fingers as you stared at Steve. It took a while for Steve to wake up. He woke up that night. He groans as he wakes up. Your head shot up when you heard him.
“Oh my god. Steve, you’re awake.” You say relieved.
Steve looks over at you, smiling when he saw you.
“What happened?” Steve asks.
“I- umm- I touched you without wearing my gloves. I didn’t mean for it to happen. I was in a rush this morning and I forgot to put them on. I would never intentionally hurt you with my powers. I am so sorry.” You say, your voice cracking and your eyes tearing up.
“You don’t have anything to apologize for, Y/N.” He says softly.
“Yes, I do. I almost killed you.” You say.
“It wasn’t intentional. It was an accident. Accidents happen.” He says.
“I know, but I’ve killed people with my powers, Steve.” You say.
“Yes, you have, but the good thing is that you didn’t kill me.” He says, trying to stay positive.
“I’m sorry.” You apologized again.
“Stop apologizing. I’m not mad at you for what you accidentally did to me. I forgive you.” He says.
“You shouldn’t do that.” You say.
“I already did. Friends forgive each other.” He says.
Steve reaches a hand out to you. You looked down at your hands, making sure you have your gloves on before reaching your hand out to him hesitantly. You couldn’t help but break down into tears.

The Avengers always pick up when something is going on with you. Steve just gets the jump on it first. They worriers, especially when it comes to you. They talked about it before a meeting one morning.
“I feel like we should as her what’s going on so we can help her figure out what she has going on.” Steve says.
“That’s a good idea, but we don’t want to bombard her with questions and overwhelm her.” Natasha says.

“We just want to know what’s going on with you is all.” Natasha says.
“Nothing is going on with me.” You lied.
“If there is, you know you can tell us.” Steve says.
“I appreciate you guys being sweet and wanting to help me, but nothing is going on with me. I’m fine.” You lied again. “Can we please just start the meeting?” You asked.
The Avengers weren’t going to bombard you with anymore questions. Not right now at least. They know you’ll open up to them when you’re ready to. Steve, on the other hand, wants to find out what’s going on with you and he’s not going to stop till he knows what it is.
After the meeting, you went to the gym to train for the upcoming mission. That gave Steve an opportunity to go into your bedroom to look for possible clues to what’s going on with you. He made sure that the door was closed before he started looking around your room. Is it wrong of him to go through your things? Yes. He just wants to know what’s going on with you is all. He looks all around your bedroom for possible clues. He looked in your dresser, closet, and under your bed, but didn’t find anything. Then he went over to your nightstand and opened the top drawer to it, finding six envelopes addressed to the Avengers. He takes them out of the nightstand and goes through all of them. He opened the one that’s addressed to him, reading it word for word. It didn’t take him long to realize that what he’s reading is a suicide note. His eyes teared up as he read it.
“No.” Steve mutters quietly to himself.
Steve was so far into the note that he didn’t even hear you come into your bedroom. You were confused as to why he’s in your bedroom. Then you saw him reading the suicide note you wrote him. Your eyes widened and your heart drops. You walked over to him, snatching the suicide notes from him.
“What the hell are you doing in my room?” You asked.
“I was trying to figure out what’s going on with you.” Steve says.
“I already told you and everyone else that I’m fine.” You say.
“Then you and I have very different definitions of the word fine, because from what I read in the suicide note you wrote me, you aren’t fine.” He says.
“I am fine.” You lied once again.
“Stop saying that! You aren’t fine not fine! Just tell me what’s going on so I can help you! I’m your friend and teammate! Talk to me!” He raises his voice without realizing it.
You just stood there without saying a word. Tears began to stream down your face.
“Get out.” You say.
Steve didn’t move. He wanted to know what’s going on with you, but he’s not going to get any answers out of you right now or possibly anytime soon.
“Get out!” You shout, shoving your hands against his chest.
Steve took the hint that time and left your bedroom. You grabbed the door before it closed and stood in the doorway to say something to him.
“If you were truly my friend, you would’ve left me alone until I was ready to talk about it!” You shouted down the hallway.
You slammed your bedroom door, the slam echoing through out the compound. You tossed the six suicide notes on your nightstand and then laid down on your bed, staring up at the ceiling.

You haven’t said a word to Steve in days. You only talked to him only if it was work related. Other than that, you don’t talk to him at all. Steve feels guilty about what he did. He knows what he did is wrong. All he wanted to do is figure out what was going on with you so he can help you, but it went into a completely different direction. The Avengers saw you acting even more differently, especially since you weren’t talking to Steve, which left them curious.
“Why isn’t Y/N talking to you?” Natasha asks.
“I did something I shouldn’t have done and now she is pissed off at me.” Steve says.
“What did you do?” Thor asks.
“I may have went into her bedroom and went through her things to figure out what’s going on with her so I can help her.” Steve says.
“That was stupid of you to do.” Tony says.
“Yea, I know that now.” Steve says.
“What did you find?” Clint asks.
Steve stayed silent. How he is supposed to tell the rest of your teammates that you wrote suicide notes that are addressed to them? Actually, it’s not his place to say anything. He knows you’ll tell them when you’re ready to.
“It was something personal.” Is all Steve says.
“How personal?” Bruce asks.
“It’s not my place to say anything. She’ll tell us when she’s ready.” Steve says.
That night, you read all six suicide notes you wrote to the Avengers. While reading those notes, you quickly realized that doing what you have been thinking about doing would devastate them. You can’t just do that to them. They’re your family and best friends. You couldn’t believe that you would even think about doing something like that and leaving them heartbroken. You couldn’t help but break down in tears. After a moment, you managed to pull yourself together and went to Steve’s bedroom to talk to him. He opened the door after you knocked on it.
“Can we talk?” You asked.
“Of course.” Steve says.
Steve steps aside, allowing you to come inside of his bedroom. He closes the door and you two sat down on his bed.
“I know you have questions as to why I wrote those suicide notes and I’ll answer any questions you ask me.” You say.
“All I want to know is why you were planning on- you know?” Steve says.
You took a shaky deep breath before saying anything.
“I just thought if I did do it, the world would be a better place without me in it.” You say, your eyes tearing up.
“No, it wouldn’t.” He says.
“Yes, it would.” You say.
“What’s making you think that?” He asks.
“I’ve done horrible things. The things I’ve done for HYDRA are unforgivable. All of that blood is still on my hands. I’m not sure how much longer I can live with myself knowing what I did for HYDRA.” You say, your voice cracking.
“None of that is your fault. You didn’t have a choice. HYDRA had control of you.” He says softly.
“I still did it.” You say.
Steve gently caresses your cheeks so your focus is on him.
“Listen to me. None of that is your fault. It’s HYDRA’s fault. They had control of you. I know that you would never intentionally hurt or kill anyone.” Steve says.
You broke down in tears. Steve wraps his arms around you, holding you close to him.
“I’m sorry.” You cried, your voice muffled against his chest.
“It’s ok. Everything is going to be ok. I’ll help you get through it.” He says softly.
Your crying went on for a few minutes before you started to calm down. Steve rubbed your back to help you calm down. He said nothing but sweet words to you.
“Can this stay between us? I don’t want everyone else to know yet. I’m not ready to tell them.” You say, your voice a bit hoarse from crying.
“I won’t tell them. You have my word.” Steve says softly.
“Thank you.” You say.
“You don’t have to thank me. I’m more than happy to help you.” He says softly.
You and Steve laid down on his bed. You’re still in his arms. Steve felt you relax in his arms. You began to drift off to sleep.
“Goodnight. I’ll be right here if you need anything.” Steve says softly.

A passenger asked the Roger pirate for a favor of delivering him to his home island. They accepted the service and he had been with the Roger Pirates for several weeks now. He wasn’t crew, just a temporary passenger. To earn his keep, Captain Roger had put him to work, mostly “the most dangerous job on the ship,” as the crew liked to joke: babysitting two chaotic toddlers named Shanks and Buggy.
After yet another exhausting day of breaking up fistfights, stopping them from climbing the rigging, and preventing Buggy from crying loud enough to wake the Sea Kings, Roger finally gave the passenger a rare afternoon off.
Passenger, wiping sweat from his forehead: I’m begging you, just a few hours in town. Alone. No red hair, no blue hair, no tantrums.”
Roger, laughing: Go on, lad! You’ve earned it. Just be back before sundown.”
Later that evening, the passenger returned to the ship carrying a small bag of supplies he’d bought for himself, some new rope, snacks, and a bottle of decent rum. The moment his foot touched the deck, two pairs of tiny feet came pattering toward him.
Shanks (age: 3) and Buggy (age: 2.5) stopped right in front of him, looking up with big, sparkling eyes. Both toddlers lifted their chubby hands expectantly, palms open, staring at him in pure anticipation.
Passenger, blinking in confusion:….What? Why are you looking at me like that?”
The two kids just kept their hands up, swaying slightly, clearly waiting.
Passenger : “Did… did I forget something? Are you hurt? Did you break something while I was gone?”
From the side, Silvers Rayleigh walked over, arms crossed and smiling softly.
Rayleigh: They’re waiting for their gifts.”
Passenger : “Gifts?”
Rayleigh: “It’s a ship tradition. Whenever anyone goes into town and comes back, they bring something small for the little ones, candy, a toy, fruit, anything really. You’ve been with us long enough now. They see you as part of the crew. So… they expect something.”
Passenger, panicking slightly: I—I didn’t know! I only bought stuff for myself. I didn’t think—”
He quickly patted his pockets and searched his bag. Nothing suitable for toddlers. No candy. No toys. Just…
Passenger, mumbling: Ah, damn it…”
He pulled out two slightly spotted bananas he had bought for his own breakfast the next day. He held them out awkwardly.
Passenger : “Uh… here. These are for you. Sorry, it’s all I’ve got.”
Shanks and Buggy stared at the bananas for a second. The stranger braced himself for tears or tantrums.
Instead, both toddlers’ faces lit up with bright, toothy smiles. Shanks grabbed one banana with both hands. Buggy took the other and hugged it to his chest like it was treasure.
Then they both rushed forward and wrapped their little arms around the passenger’s legs, squeezing tightly.
Shanks: “Tank youuu!”
Buggy: “Bana! Tank youuu!”
They giggled happily, then scampered off across the deck, proudly showing their bananas to anyone who would look.
Rayleigh, chuckling: Kids are simple. It’s not about what you give them. It’s that you thought of them. Welcome to the family, even if it’s temporary.”
The passenger looked down at the tiny banana peels already appearing on the deck and the two giggling toddlers now trying to trade bananas with each other. For the first time in weeks, all the spilled food, the screaming matches, the accidental bites, and the constant chaos felt… worth it.
He smiled despite himself.

The Avengers were informed on what kind of threat is coming, but little do they know that there’s a child- you going to be there too. You were in Germany with your dad- Loki. He was saying how everyone should kneel for him, but you didn’t understand cause you’re only a toddler. The people weren’t even focused on Loki. They were thinking how crazy Loki is for bringing a child into a dangerous situation like this. An old man was brave enough to stand up to Loki. Loki aimed his scepter at him to blast him. When he did, Steve lands in front of the old man and hold his shield up. The blast ricocheted off of his shield and hit Loki. Loki groans as he sits up.
“The soldier.” Loki says.
You were sitting on the ground as your dad and Steve were fighting. Steve throws his shield at Loki. He hit it with his scepter. Steve’s shield landed on the ground next to you, startling you a bit. That’s when Steve had to resort to old fashion fist fighting, which ended up with him on the ground and kneeling in front of Loki. Loki put the handle of his scepter against Steve’s head. Steve looks over in your direction, his eyes widening when he saw you. He could tell that you were scared just by seeing tears streaming down your face.
“In the end, you all will kneel for me.” Loki says.
“Not today!” Steve says.
That’s when Tony blasts Loki, which sent him to the ground next to you. Steve picks up his shield and you and stands next to Tony. You were clinging to Steve.
“Mr. Stark.” Steve says.
“Captain.” Tony says.
Now, you’re on the quinjet with Steve and Tony. Natasha is flying the quinjet and your dad is handcuffed and sitting in one of the seats. You were still clinging to Steve. You were sniffling and whimpering.
“You’re ok now. You’re safe.” Steve coos softly.
Loki looks over at you and Steve as Steve was trying to console you.
“You know she’s just being dramatic, right? She’s doing that to get your attention.” Loki says.
Steve shoots a death glare at Loki.
“Why in the world would you bring a little baby girl into this?!” Steve asks.
“She needs to know what will come. She’s going to be exactly like me when she’s older.” Loki says.
“Do you not realize that your daughter could’ve possibly gotten hurt with all the dangerous things you have done?” Steve says.
“She’s fine.” Loki says with no emotion whatsoever.
“No, she’s not! She’s probably going to be scarred for life from the dangerous things you have done!” Steve says.
“She’s just being a drama queen like she always is. She’s going to grow up to be just like me and she’ll rule the Earth alongside me and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop it.” Loki says, his voice sounding dangerous.
That’s when thunder began to struck around the quinjet. Loki jumps a bit and looks up. He knows what’s about to come.
“What? Are you scared of a little thunder?” Steve asks.
“I’m not too fond of what follows it.” Loki says.
The hatch of the quinjet opens and Thor enters it. Steve turns you away just in case anything dangerous is shot your way. Thor grabbed Loki and jumped out of the quinjet. Tony walks to the entrance of the quinjet and looks down.
“Stark, we need a plan of attack!” Steve says.
“I have a plan. Attack.” Tony says before flying out of the quinjet.
Steve looks at you to the parachute and back to you. He was debating whether or not to stay with you or go down to the ground.
“I’ll be right back, sweetheart.” Steve says softly.
“No!” You cried, clinging to him tightly.
Steve was about to give in and stay with you, but he has to work.
“I’ll watch her.” Natasha says.
Steve gently pries you off of him and puts you on Natasha’s lap. You stared up at Steve with teary eyes, wondering where he’s going. He puts the parachute on and jumps out of the quinjet. Meanwhile, Thor and Loki landed on the ground. Thor stares at his brother with the looks of anger and confusion on his face. He wasn’t sure what to think. His brother who he thought was dead is alive.
“I saw you fall off the bridge. You died. I mourned you.” Thor says.
“I’m honored?” Loki says like a question.
Thor scoffs and shakes his head at him. He lifts his hammer, pointing it at Loki.
“Listen well, brother-” Thor got knocked down by Tony before he could say another word.
“I’m listening.” Loki says.
When Thor stands up from the ground, he faces Tony, his hammer still in his hand.
“You have no idea what you’re dealing with.” Thor says.
“Shakespeare in the park?” Tony takes a look around. “Doesth mother know you weareth her drapes?” He says, gesturing to Thor’s cape.
It wasn’t long till a fight broke out between them. Steve got there in time before it escalated and he threw his shield at them.
“Enough!” Steve shouts.
All three of them are staring each other down like they’re in the Wild West. A fight broke out again. Afterwards, they got on SHIELD’s helicarrier and regrouped. You were still with Natasha. You squirmed in her arms when you saw Steve, wanting to be held by him. Natasha walks over to Steve and puts you in his arms. You clung to him again.
“I told you I’d be back, sweetheart.” Steve says softly.
You were calmed down a lot compared to when he saw you earlier.
“Can you tell me your name?” Steve asks softly.
“My name is Y/N.” You tell him.
It’s nice to meet you, Y/N. I’m Steve.” He says.
Thor freezes when he heard your voice. At first, he thought his mind was playing tricks on him. He saw you fall off the bridge with Loki. Since he saw that Loki is clearly alive, is it possible that you’re alive too? He looks over at you. He gasps softly and his eyes widened in shock when he saw you. You’re alive too, which he’s relieved about.
“Y/N?” Thor says.
You lifted your head and looked over at Thor.
“Do you remember me?” Thor asks.
“No.” You answered.
“I’m your uncle. I used to call you the future princess of Asgard. Remember?” Thor says.
“No.” You answered. “Daddy erased my mind and the only person I know is him.” You tell him.
Thor’s jaw clenches when you told him that. How could Loki erase everything you once knew? Your uncle, your grandparents, your home on Asgard.
“How do you know Y/N?” Steve asks.
“I’m her uncle.” Thor tells him.
“You’re her uncle? So that means she’s Asgardian?” Steve asks.
“Yes. I haven’t seen her in a long time. I thought her and Loki were dead all this time, but it turns out, they’re not.” Thor says.
Thor holds his arms out to you for a hug. You stared at him and then looked up at Steve, not knowing what to do.
“That’s up to you, sweetie.” Steve says.
You looked back at Thor. You hesitantly reached over to him to give him a hug.
“You’re my uncle?” You asked.
“Yes.” Thor answers.
“Do you know why daddy did those bad things?” You asked.
Thor didn’t know how to answer your question without scaring, upsetting, or confusing you.
“We’re trying to figure that out, princess.” Thor tells you.
After being held by Thor for a few minutes, you wanted to be held by Steve again. You reached your hands out to him and did grabby hands. Thor gently put you back in Steve’s arms.
“I have something for Loki’s daughter.” Coulson says.
Coulson gives you a teddy bear that’s wearing a small t-shirt with SHIELD’s logo on it. You smiled and took it from him, hugging it tightly.
“What do you say to Coulson, sweetheart?” Steve asks.
“Thank you, sir.” You say to Coulson.
“You’re welcome, kiddo.” Coulson smiles.
You’re a lot more calm now, especially now that you have a teddy bear to keep you occupied from the threat your dad has planned. Steve knew that you being occupied wasn’t going to last long, because he has to go stop your dad with the Avengers in a little bit. He already knows that you don’t want him to leave. So, he’s going to try to prepare before he goes stop your dad.
“In a little bit, we have to go stop your daddy from doing something bad.” Steve says.
“No! Don’t go!” You whined, clinging to Steve.
Steve almost gave in and stayed with you. He can’t leave you like this, but he knows that you’ll be in good hands with SHIELD for a little bit.
“I know you don’t want me to go, sweetheart, but I have to.” He says softly.
“No!” You whined again. “Daddy is going to hurt you like he did to those other people!” You say.
There it is. Steve’s heart broke for you. He can’t imagine what you went through when you witnessed what your dad did to those people, but he can tell how scary it must’ve been for you.
“Your dad isn’t going to do anything bad to me.” Steve softly assures.
“Promise?” You asked.
“I promise.” He promises.
When it finally came down to it, Steve asked Fury to keep an eye on you. You did cling to him again, but he assured you that everything is going to be fine and he’ll be back soon. Fury got you blank paper and markers for you to draw to keep you distracted from what’s going on. It did keep you distracted for a while, but then Loki found you and got ahold of you. You did everything you could to get away from him, but it was no use when he was holding you tightly. Not tight enough to hurt you. Tight enough so that you didn’t fall out of his arms while you were squirming to get away from him.
“Daddy, no! Put me down!” You say, squirming to get away from him.
“No. You’re going to learn something from this. I’m going to be the new ruler of Earth and you’re going to be there alongside me.” Loki says.
The way Loki said that scared you. You kept trying to get away from him, but that angered him.
“Stop it!” Loki yells.
You froze and stared at your dad. You’ve heard your dad yell before, but never at you. You’ve never gave him a reason to. After a moment, your eyes teared up and your bottom lip quivered and you started crying. Loki rolls his eyes at you. To him, you’re being dramatic, but in reality, you’re scared. Meanwhile, Clint was on top of a building when Loki flew by with you in his arms, which made his eyes widen.
“Cap, Loki has Y/N.” Clint informs Steve.
Steve freezes and his heart drops. As if what’s happening wasn’t already dangerous, it just became even more dangerous now that Loki has you.
“How do you want us to proceed?” Clint asks.
“With caution and keep an eye on her.” Steve says.
Even though Loki has you, Steve and the Avengers kept their eyes on you. Loki wouldn’t do anything to hurt you, but they still didn’t want to take any chances.
“I got eyes on Y/N, Cap. What do you want me to do?” Tony asks.
Steve looks up at Tony before saying anything.
“Try to get Y/N and get her somewhere safe.” Steve says.
“On it, Cap.” Tony says.
Tony preceded with caution as he flew over to Loki to get you away from him. You saw Tony a few feet behind your dad. Tony had to act fast before Loki saw him or caught on. Tony flew towards Loki as soon as he turned around and grabbed you. Loki had the look of confusion on his face as he watches Tony fly away with you. He saw him take you to Stark tower and made his way over to the tower. Tony informed Steve and the Avengers that you’re in Stark tower now.
“You’re safe now, kid.” Tony says as you and him entered the tower.
Tony turns around when he heard footsteps. It was Loki.
“Give me my daughter.” Loki orders.
“No.” Tony says.
Tony put you down and told you to run and hide. Loki tried to get you again, but Tony blasted him before he could.
“Not only do you have the Avengers trying to stop you, your own daughter doesn’t want to be anywhere near you.” Tony says.
Loki laughs as he stands up.
“She will learn from this and she’ll see that she will be just like me. Her and I are going to rule this planet together and there’s nothing any of you can do to stop me.” Loki says.
“You keep telling yourself that, Reindeer Games.” Tony says.
Tony flew out of the tower to attend to the threat with the Avengers that Loki brought on. You stayed hidden somewhere in the tower during the rest of the threat. Loki didn’t even bother looking for you. He was too focused on the threat he brought on. Thor makes it to Stark tower in hopes that he’s able to get through to your dad.
“This is madness, brother!” Thor exclaims.
“That’s how you see it. I don’t see it that way.” Loki says.
“It needs to stop!” Thor says.
Loki didn’t respond to that. All he did was chuckle.
“Think about your daughter, Loki. All of this madness is scaring her.” Thor says.
“It doesn’t scare her. She’s just being dramatic. All of this will be hers too when she rules Earth alongside me.” Loki says.
“She’s just a child! She doesn’t want any of that!” Thor says.
“She will.” Loki says.
Thor scoffs. There’s no getting through to Loki at all. He won’t stop this for anyone, not even you. He won’t stop this until he gets what he wants.
After all of it was over and the portal was closed, the Avengers were relieved. Not fully relieved though. They need to make sure that you’re ok. You are. You’re just scared and shaken up from what happened, which is understandable. The Avengers looked all over the tower for you. Steve found you in a closet down the hall from the main room of the tower. You were in the corner of the closet crying with your eyes closed and your hands over your ears to block out every sound that sounded scary to you. He cautiously approached, not wanting to accidentally scare you even more than you already are. Steve crouched down in front of you and reached a hand out, gently tapping on your shoulder. You opened your eyes and saw Steve. You threw yourself in his arms and clung to him like a koala.
“It’s ok. It’s over now. You’re safe.” Steve says softly.
“It’s over?” You asked.
Steve nods. He stands up and goes to the main room where the Avengers are staring down Loki. You didn’t bother to look at him. Loki saw you in Steve’s arms and didn’t even bother to ask if you’re ok or not.
Later, Thor was going to take Loki back to Asgard. First, he wanted to talk to Steve. Thor thinks it would be best for you to stay on Earth rather than go back to Asgard with him and your dad. He thinks that Earth is the safest place for you for now. Thor knows that your dad wouldn’t intentionally hurt you if you went back to Asgard with them, but he just wants you to be safe.
“Before I take Loki back to Asgard, I want to talk to you about something important.” Thor says.
“What is it?” Steve asks, wondering what Thor wants to talk to him about.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea for Y/N to go back to Asgard right now. I think it’s best for her to stay on Earth with you. I hope that’s ok with you.” Thor says.
“That’s more than ok with me. I would love to take care of Y/N.” Steve says.
“Thank you so much.” Thor says.
“You’re welcome.” Steve says.
Steve gently put you in your uncle’s arms so he can say bye to you and give you a hug.
“Me and your father are going back to Asgard.” Thor says.
“Am I going with you guys?” You asked.
“I’m afraid not, princess. You’re going to stay on Earth where it’s safe. Steve is going to be taking care of you.” He tells you.
“Oh ok.” You say.
“I’ll see you soon though. Ok?” He says.
“Ok.” You say.
You give Thor a hug and then you’re put back into Steve’s arms. Thor walks back over to Loki. Loki looks at you. He looks like he feels guilty for what he put you through. Thor raises his hammer, sending him and Loki to Asgard.
“I’m staying with you now?” You asked Steve.
“Yes, you are. I can assure you that you’ll be safe and nothing bad is going to happen.” Steve says softly.
“Ok.” You say.

You’ve been living with Steve for a while now and Steve can tell that you’re happier. You’ve always been a happy kid, but your happiness faded away a bit when you and your dad faked yours and his deaths and the things you witnessed Loki doing. You’re a lot more happy now than before. You’re going to be a lot more happier and also excited in a minute when you see the package Tony sent you.
“Y/N, uncle Tony sent you something in the mail.” Steve says.
“What is it?” You curiously asked, seeing a big box in his hands.
“Take a look.” He says, sitting the box down in front of you.
Steve already cut the box open so all you have to do is open it and see what’s inside of it. You gasped when you saw the contents inside of the box. It was a bunch of toys and stuffed animals.
“All of this is mine?” You asked, looking up at Steve.
“Yes.” Steve smiles.
You got every single toy and stuffed animal out of the box and looked at them. You couldn’t decide which toy or stuffed animal to play with first. That’s how excited you are. Steve sat down on the couch and watched you played with your new toys and stuffed animals for a while before helping you put them in your bedroom. He made a mental note to himself to buy you a toy box for your toys.
“I like my new things, dada.” You say.
Steve smiles when you called him dada. That’s the first time you’ve ever called him that.
“What did you say?” Steve asks, making sure he heard you right.
“You’re my dada now.” You say.
“That’s right, sweetheart. I am.” He smiles.
Steve is your dad now, but he wants you to know that he’s not replacing your biological dad- Loki in any way. He crouches down in front of you to tell you.
“I want you to know that I’m not replacing your dad in any way. Ok?” Steve says softly.
“Ok, dada.” You say.

Since Loki has been imprisoned in Asgard for a while now, Steve and Thor think it’s a good idea to visit Asgard for the day. They’re going to be cautious though. Thor got you from Steve’s apartment and then rose his hammer to take you and him to Asgard.
“Where are we?” You asked as you and Thor walked further into Asgard.
“We’re in Asgard. This is where you were born.” Thor tells you.
“Really?” You asked, looking up at him.
“Yes.” He says.
Your grandparents were excited to see you. They were in complete shock when Thor told them that you’re alive. They’ve been waiting for the day you’d visit them and today is that day.
You walked over to Odin and Frigga, giving them a hug.
“How are you, sweetie?” Frigga asks.
“Good.” You say.
“I bet you want to see your father.” Odin says.
You nodded. Steve and Thor left it up to you to see your dad. You weren’t sure at first, because all of the horrible things Loki has done, but then you wanted to see him after Thor told you that he hasn’t done anything bad lately. Thor held your hand as he led you to your dad’s cell.
“Loki.” Thor says.
“Brother.” Loki says.
“Someone is here to see you.” Thor says.
Loki didn’t bother to ask who it is. He assumed it was his parents or one of Thor’s friends. Thor motions for you to come closer. Loki rushes over to the glass window separating you and him when he saw you. You backed up, accidentally bumping into Thor and then looked up at him.
“It’s ok.” Thor softly assures you.
You looked back at your dad and walked back over to the window. Loki crouches down so he’s at eye level with you.
“Hi, princess.” Loki greets you.
“Hi, daddy.” You say. “Why are you in this room?” You curiously asked.
“Remember all of the bad things you saw me do?” He asks.
You nodded.
“That’s why I’m in here.” Loki says.
“Oh.” You say.
“Tell me how you’ve been.” He says.
“Dada has been taking care of me and uncle Tony bought me a lot of toys and stuffed animals.” You tell him.
Loki frowns in confusion. You haven’t called him dada since your first words.
“That’s what she calls Steve Rogers.” Thor says.
“Ah, yes. The soldier.” Loki says.
Thor was expecting for Loki to get upset about you calling Steve dada, but he doesn’t look upset. He doesn’t like the idea of you calling someone else your dad, but he understands why you would. The old him wouldn’t tolerate one bit, but him now, he gets it. He hasn’t been in your life for a little over a year.
“That’s great, darling. I’m glad you’re having fun on Earth with the Avengers.” He says.
“It’s lots of fun on Earth!” You exclaimed excitedly.
Thor supervised your visit with your dad. Loki understands why he would because of what he has put you through in the past. As much fun as you had in Asgard for the day, you were excited to get home and tell Steve all about it.
“Asgard is fun like it is here!” You excitedly tell Steve.
“I’m glad you had fun, sweetheart. How about you tell me all about it in the morning. It’s time for bed.” Steve says.
“Ok.” You say.
Steve helped you get cleaned up and ready for bed. Then he read you a bedtime story. You fell asleep about halfway through the book you chose.
“Goodnight, sweetie. I love you.” Steve says softly and kisses the top of your head.

Steve has been in love with you since high school. He always kept his feelings for you to himself, because he had a feeling that you didn’t feel the same way. Bucky has tried to convince Steve many times to tell you how he feels about you, but he never did. He was going to tell you. He really was, but then the plane went down in 1945 and he never got that chance. When he found out that you were alive, it felt like he got a second chance to tell you how he feels about you, but that still hasn’t happened.
“When are you going to ask Y/N out already?” Natasha asks.
“I don’t know.” Steve says.
“You need to before someone else takes her from you.” She says.
“What if she doesn’t feel the same way?” He asks.
“She’s known you for years. You two grew up together. She sure as hell feels the same way about you.” She says.
“How do you know that for sure, Natasha?” He asks.
“Have you seen the way Y/N looks at you? She stares at you with heart eyes. That’s love. I know love when I see it.” She says.
Natasha isn’t wrong. You do stare at Steve with heart eyes. He has caught staring at him many times.
“If you don’t tell Y/N how you feel, someone else might and you’ll lose her again and I know you don’t want that to happen a second time.” She says.
Steve doesn’t want to lose you again, especially to anyone. He doesn’t want to experience losing you a second time. Deep down, he felt miserable without you in his life. Now is a good enough time as any.
“You’re right. I’m going to tell Y/N how I feel. I don’t want to lose her again.” He says.
“There’s the spirit. Now, go get your girl. You two deserve each other.” She says.
That’s what Steve exactly did. He went home to yours and his shared apartment where you are right now. You had just gotten home from running errands shortly before he got home.
“Hi, Stevie.” You smiled.
“Hi, Y/N.” Steve greets you back. “I uhh- I have something to tell you.” He says nervously.
“What is it?” You curiously asked.
This is when Steve’s nerves really set in. He took a deep breath and cleared his throat before saying anything.
“You and I have known each other since we were kids and I really enjoy our friendship, but I feel like there’s more than just friendship between us. What I’m trying to say is that I’ve been in love with you since high school. I didn’t know how to tell you so I just kept it to myself. Bucky tried to convince me many times to tell you, but I never did and still kept it to myself. I was going to tell you. I really was, but then the plane went down in 1945 and I never got the chance to tell you. I was miserable without you for years, but then I found out you’re alive and I felt like I got a second chance to tell you how I feel and I still never did. Natasha convinced to tell you and today, I finally worked up the courage to tell you. I love you, Y/N.” Steve confesses.
You stood there frozen and stared at him. Everything Steve said was sweet. You weren’t sure what to say after all of that. You didn’t know that he felt the same way as you. Like him, you kept your feelings about him to yourself. The longer you didn’t say anything is when Steve thought he just made the biggest mistake of his life.
“I knew I shouldn’t have said anything. This was probably a mistake. We can pretend that I didn’t say anything and go back to being friends.” He says.
You were hot on Steve’s trail as he walked away from you. You quickly walked past him and stood in front of the door, blocking him from leaving.
“Y/N, move please.” Steve says.
“No.” You say.
“Y/N, please. I’ve embarrassed myself enough. Let me leave.” He says.
“No.” You say again.
You put your hand on the doorknob as he reaches for it.
“Will you hold on for a second? I have something to tell you too.” You say.
“If it’s about how I just embarrassed myself, I don’t want to hear it.” He says.
“God damn it, Steve. Can you shut up for a damn minute so I can say something?” You say.
“Fine. Talk.” He says.
“I love you too.” You confessed.
This time, Steve is the one who freezes.
“What?” He asks, making sure he heard you correctly.
“I said, I love you.” You repeated.
“You are?” He asks.
“Yes. I enjoy our friendship too and I also feel like there’s more than just friendship between us. I’ve been in love with you since high school too. I just didn’t have the guts to tell you. I wasn’t sure if you felt the same way as me and it turns out that you do. Bucky’s sister convinced to tell you how I feel and I was going to tell you, but like you said, the plane went down and neither of us got the chance to tell each other how we feel about each other.” You say.
Steve wasn’t sure what to say. All he can do at the moment is smile. He’s happy that you feel the same way about him.
“Please say something so I don’t feel like I’m the one who just embarrassed myself.” You say.
Steve didn’t say anything. Instead, he places his hands on your waist and pulls you closer to him, kissing you passionately. You two smiled against each other’s lips. You put your hands on his chest, rubbing your hands against his chest before clutching the fabric of his shirt. You two leaned your foreheads against one another’s and gazed deeply into each other’s eyes with smiles on yours and his faces.
“I guess that it just took convincing from our friends to get us to tell each other how we feel about one another.” Steve says.
You nodded in agreement and pecked his lips softly.
“What does this mean?” You asked.
“It means that we should go on dates and then we make it official.” He says.
“That sounds great to me.” You say.
“Me too.” He says.
“I love you, Stevie.” You say softly.
“I love you too, sweetheart.” He says just as softly and pecks your lips softly.
Oooo can I please request a Steve rogers x fem!reader where she has the powers of turning into any animal from hydra experimenting on her, it takes place when Bucky and his unit are captured in 1943 by Hydra, when Bucky is in the cage they put them all in, he sees a nearby cage only holding one person, it’s Y/n and it looks like she’s been there a long time and she is just wearing a dress hydra gave her that doesn’t cover much so she’s shivering 🥺 When they drag Bucky out of the cage to go experiment on him, they drag her out too and he notices it looks like she’s completely used to this treatment because she doesn’t fight the Hydra soldiers at all when they drag her out with Bucky to the experimentation room🥺 She’s put on the table next to him and they’re both experimented on (Bucky for the first time)🥺 She has been there for about a year because she had moved onto an army base with her father who was in the military but Hydra attacked the small base and killed everyone but Y/n and abducted her and brought her to the Hydra base to experiment on🥺 When Steve goes on the mission to save Bucky and his unit, he finds both Bucky and Y/n barely conscious strapped to the metal tables 🥺 He’d be like “Bucky? You were kidnapped by HYDRA a year before they got their hands on Bucky and his unit and locked them in cages. You were taken to the lab at the same time Bucky was taken out of the cage and taken to the same lab you’re in. You’ve been there for so long that you don’t bother trying to get away from them anymore. Both of you were strapped to cold metal tables side by side. Bucky was injected with the super serum while they experimented on you some more.
When Steve got to the HYDRA base, he managed to sneak inside of the building without getting noticed. Well, he did knock out a few HYDRA agents. That caught Bucky’s unit’s attention. Steve releases everyone in his unit and asks them where Bucky is. He then gives them orders for what to do next while he went to go find and save his best friend. Steve was cautiously and quietly walking down a hallway looking for Bucky. Then he found a lab. Not only did he find Bucky in there, he saw you too. Bucky was mumbling and you were unconscious.
“Bucky? Bucky!” Steve says, shaking him.
Bucky looks over at Steve and smiles at him.
“Steve.” Bucky says.
Steve unstraps Bucky from the table and helps him off of it.
“I thought you were dead.” Steve says.
“I thought you were smaller.” Bucky says.
“I joined the Army.” Steve says.
As they were about to leave the lab, they saw you unconscious and strapped down to a cold metal table. They immediately knew that they needed to help you.
“We can’t leave without her. We have to help her. Who knows how long she’s been here.” Bucky says.
“Oh my gosh! Who is she?” Steve asks.
“I don’t know. I think she was already in here before I got dragged in here.” Bucky says.
Steve couldn’t agree more. Bucky unstrapped you from the table and Steve carefully took the IV out of your arm. Then he tried to wake up.
“Ma’am?” Steve gently shakes you. “Ma’am, can you hear me?” He asks.
Your eyes fluttered open and you saw two unfamiliar people standing next to you. Just by looking at their Army uniforms, you could tell that they weren’t HYDRA agents or HYDRA doctors.
“What’s- What’s going on?” You asked weakly.
“You’re going to be fine. Me and my friend are going to get you out of here. Ok?” Steve says softly.
“Ok.” You say.
Steve picks you up bridal style and carries you out of the lab with Bucky following closely. As they were trying to get out of there, they were stopped by Schmidt and Zola.
“I think you took something of ours. We’d like it back.” Schmidt says, referring to you.
Steve’s jaw clenches. He hates the way he’s talking about you, especially referring to you as “it”. He carefully hands you over to Bucky and walks over to Schmidt, punching him in the face. Then Schmidt took his mask off, revealing what he actually looks like. Schmidt tries to punch Steve, but Steve quickly shields himself with his shield. One thing led to another and then Schmidt left with Zola. Steve and Bucky knew that they had to get out of there before the building was blown up. They had to think fast. Then they found a beam to walk across. Bucky walks across it to the other side. You’re more awake now there you were a little bit ago as soon as Bucky got to the other side.
“There’s gotta be a rope or something!” Bucky shouts.
“Go! I’ll stay with her!” Steve shouts.
“No! Not without you!” Bucky shouts.
Steve got to thinking quick. The only way for him to get to the side Bucky is on is to jump across.
“Ma’am, I’m going to need you to trust me.” Steve says.
You were clearly scared, but you didn’t question him. All you did was give him a nod. Steve takes a few steps back and takes a deep breath. Then he gets a running start and then jumps across to where Bucky is. Bucky helps both of you over the railing. Now that they figured out how to get out of there, their next mission is to get you out of there. When Steve, Bucky, and the soldier got to the Army base, Steve was carrying you bridal style. Steve informed Peggy on how him and Bucky found you.
“Hey!” Bucky shouts, quieting down the soldiers. “Let’s hear it for Captain America!” He shouts again.
Bucky and the soldier cheered Steve on. Then Steve took you to get medical attention. Bucky and the other soldiers got medical attention as well. As you were getting medical attention, a group of soldiers stood in the entrance of the medical tent checking you out in a flirty way. Considering that you were still in a hospital like gown, you were extremely uncomfortable. You got even more uncomfortable if it’s possible when they started whistling at you and flirting with you. You covered yourself up with a blanket and looked away from the soldiers who are flirting with you and making you uncomfortable. Steve immediately notices and goes over to them.
“Don’t you guys have anything else better to do than make her feel uncomfortable with the way you’re looking at her and flirting with her?” Steve says in his Captain voice.
“Sorry, Captain Rogers.” They apologized.
“You guys should be sorry. Now, go away before I report each and every one of you for the way you’re treating her.” He says.
The soldiers nodded and quickly left. Steve walks over to you and sits down on the cot next to you. You didn’t feel uncomfortable anymore after those soldiers left.
“Thank you for doing that.” You say.
“You’re welcome. No woman should be treated like that.” Steve says.
Steve stayed with you while the nurses checked you out. When Bucky was done getting medical attention, he went over to sit with you too.
“What’s your name?” Steve asks.
“Y/N.” You introduced yourself.
“I’m Steve.” Steve introduces himself.
“And I’m Bucky.” Bucky introduces himself.
“Can you tell us how HYDRA got ahold of you?” Steve asks softly.
You breathed shakily. The horrible memories of HYDRA invading the small Army base your dad was stationed at and them kidnapping you flashed in your mind. You took a deep breath before telling them anything.
“A year ago, I was living with my dad on the small Army base he was stationed at and HYDRA invaded it. My dad and the soldiers did everything they could to stop them, but then one of the HYDRA agents shot and killed my dad right in front of me. As I was running over to help him, another HYDRA agent grabs me and took me to their base. Then they experimented on me. I tried getting away many times, but I was always caught. The more they experimented on me, I didn’t bother fighting them. I just took everything they did to me and accepted defeat.” You tell them.
Tears were streaming down your face by the end of the story. Steve gets you some tissues for you to wipe your tears away.
“That’s horrible. We’re sorry for your loss and that you had to experience that.” Bucky says softly.
“What kind of experiments did they do on you?” Steve asks.
“They did a lot of experiments on me, which gave me the ability to turn into animals.” You say.
“Does it hurt when you turn into animal forms?” Bucky asks.
“It did at first, but I’m used to it now.” You say.
“Is it ok if we ask to see you in animal form or would that be too much for you?” Steve asks.
“It’s fine. I don’t mind.” You say.
You turned into a little bat. Steve and Bucky were shocked in a good way. They’ve never seen anything like it before. You stayed in bat form for a few more seconds before turning back into your human form. You saw the shocked looks on their faces, which made you a bit nervous.
“I didn’t scare you guys, did I?” You asked nervously.
“No, of course not.” Bucky says.
“We’re shocked in a good way. We just never seen anything like this before.” Steve says.
“Oh ok.” You say.
From that day on, Steve and Bucky vowed to protect you from any kind of harm and evil there is. Not only that, they’ve become your best friends and they got you settled into the Army base. One day, you were wandering around the base looking for Steve and Bucky. You knew you found Steve when you heard his voice. You stopped in your tracks next to a shelf when you heard a woman who works on the Army base say something rude about you to Steve.
“Are you and Sergeant Barnes still hanging out with that freak?” The blonde woman asks.
“Yes, we are and please don’t call her that.” Steve says.
“She is a freak. She’s a freak with powers.” She says.
“Do not call her a freak and she has a name. Her name is Y/N. She’s a beautiful woman who got kidnapped and experimented on.” He says.
“You can call her what you want, Captain Rogers, but I know a freak when I see one.” She says.
Your eyes teared up. You couldn’t listen to anymore. You ran straight into an office, which was Howard’s office. Steve heard you go into Howard’s office and then he went to go get Bucky so both of them can comfort you. When they walked into the office, they saw you in cat form and laying on the desk chair.
“Y/N?” Steve says softly.
You lifted your head and looked over at your two best friends. Even in animal form, they can tell that you’re crying just by looking at your eyes.
“Can you please turn back into a human so we can talk about what you heard a moment ago?” Bucky asks.
You turned back into your human form and walked over to them. They wrapped their arms around you to comfort you as you cried in their arms.
“Do you guys think I’m a freak with powers?” You asked.
“You’re far from it. You’re beautiful.” Steve says.
“That girl is just jealous that she’s not as cool as you.” Bucky says.
“Do you guys really think that?” You asked.
“Of course we do.” Steve says.
You smiled and gave your best friends another hug.
“Thank you for making me feel better.” You say.
“That’s what friends are for.” Steve says.
Later, Steve, Bucky, and the soldiers went out for drinks. They invited you to go with them, which you happily accepted, but there’s one little problem. You don’t have a nice outfit to wear. That’s where Peggy comes in handy. She offered you one of her dresses.
“Pick anything you like.” Peggy says, gesturing to her dresses.
You looked at her variety of dresses for a moment before choosing one. You chose a cute short sleeved green dress with a matching jacket.
“This one is cute.” You point out.
You took the dress off of the hanger and put it on. You stood in front of the mirror and rubbed your hands over the fabric of the dress, smoothing it out.
“It’s pretty.” You say.
“It is.” Peggy agrees. “Are you ready?” She asks.
“Yes.” You say.
You and Peggy walked into the bar together. Everyone went quiet and all eyes were on you. You weren’t sure why they were looking at you at first.
“They’re looking at you, because you’re pretty.” Peggy softly tells you.
“Really?” You asked.
She nods and smiles. You saw Steve and Bucky on the other side of the bar and walked over to them. Their eyes were on you too.
“Hi.” You greeted them.
“Hi.” They greeted you back.
“Peggy let me borrow one of her dresses. What do you guys think?” You asked.
“Beautiful.” Both of them complimented.
You blushed and smiled. You sat down at the table with them. Steve, being the gentleman he is, got you a drink. You were a bit quiet at first, because you haven’t went out and did anything fun since before HYDRA got their hands on you. After a little bit, you were talking up a storm. Steve and Bucky got to know you better and you got to know them better too. They’re happy you’re finally enjoying yourself. They also noticed that you’re coming out of your shell, which makes them happy as well.
Not too long after that, Steve, Bucky, and the Howling Commandos went on missions to take down HYDRA. Steve and Bucky are doing it for you. You stayed at the Army base and hoped that they would come back to the base unharmed. During one of the missions, Steve and Bucky came across something. Something meaning, your HYDRA file. They went through the whole thing. That was the only thing they took from the HYDRA base before returning back to the Army base. You felt relief wash over you when you saw them. You hugged them the second they stepped foot on the base.
“How was the mission?” You asked.
“Successful.” Bucky says.
“We found something.” Steve says.
“What did you find?” You curiously asked.
Instead of telling you, Steve handed you your HYDRA file. Your breathing makes a hitching sound. You cringed when you saw the HYDRA logo on the front of the file. You opened it with shaky hands. Reading through each experiment they did on you. The horrible memories flashed in your mind. You closed the file and shoved it back into Steve’s hands.
“Get that the hell away from me.” You say in a shaky voice.
“Do you want us to destroy it?” Steve asks.
“Yes, please.” You say.
Steve and Bucky are more than happy to destroy your HYDRA file. Destroy it meaning, they burned it. When it was done burning, they went back to you to see if you’re ok or not.
“We burned it.” Bucky tells you.
“Good. That’s good.” You say.
You let out a breath you didn’t even know you were holding. They hugged you to comfort you.
“You’re ok. You don’t have to worry about seeing the file ever again.” Steve says.
When it came down to the final mission of taking HYDRA down, Steve and Bucky wanted you to have extra protection. So, they had you stay with Peggy and Howard. The mission was going according to plan, but then something horrible happened. Steve witnessed his best friend fall off of the train. Around the same time, a HYDRA agent came up behind you, covering your mouth so your screams were muffled. You passed out from inhaling the chemicals on the cloth. Then the HYDRA agent took you back to Red Skull. When Steve got on the plane, he proceeded with caution. When he got to the cockpit area of the plane, he found you strapped to a cold metal table. His heart drops and he rushes over to you. He immediately unstraps you from the table.
“Y/N.” Steve gently shook you. “It’s Steve. Wake up.” He says softly.
You mumbled incoherently as you came to. Steve picks you up bridal style at the same time Red Skull entered the cockpit area of the plane, aiming a gun at Steve.
“Put the girl down, Captain.” Red Skull demands.
“No.” Steve says.
“I don’t think you heard me correctly.” Red Skull takes a couple steps forward. “Put it down.” He says, referring to you.
“Her name is Y/N and like I said, I am not putting her down so you can experiment on her like she’s a science experiment.” Steve says.
Red Skull was going to negotiate with Steve, but that won’t get him anywhere. So, he just shoots at him. Steve quickly ducks and shields you. He put you down long enough to fight Red Skull.
“The girl has potential for the future.” Red Skull says.
“Being experimented on is something she doesn’t want for her future!” Steve says.
That’s when Red Skull got ahold of the tesseract and vanished. Steve checks on you to see if you’re ok before flying the plane. You woke up a short moment after Steve sat down in the Captain’s chair of the plane. You weakly sat up and got off of the table. You bumped into almost everything as you made your way over to Steve. You held onto the Captain’s chair tightly so you didn’t lose your balance and fall down.
“What- What’s happening? Where am I?” You asked.
“HYDRA kidnapped you and brought you onto this plane.” Steve says.
“Are you trying to land it?” You asked.
“I wish I could, but I can’t. I have to put it in the water.” He says.
Your eyes grow eye when he said that.
“There has to be somewhere to land this plane safely.” You say.
“I wish there was, but there isn’t.” He says.
Steve stands up from the chair long enough to kiss you passionately. You two gazed deeply into each other’s eyes for a few seconds before sitting down. Steve held your hand as he landed the plane in the water. You and him had no idea if you two are going to survive this, but at least you two are together when it happened.
60+ YEARS LATER…
You and Steve don’t know how long you two have been asleep. You two aren’t sure how you two survived 60+ years in the ice before anyone found you guys. Steve was the first one to wake up. You were the first thing he looked for as soon as he woke up. He didn’t have to look for long and far, because you were still asleep in the bed next to him. Relief washes over him when he saw you. He got out of the bed he was in and moved over to yours.
“Y/N, wake up.” Steve says softly as he gently shook you awake.
You softly hummed as you woke up. You rubbed your eyes before opening them. You felt relieved when you saw Steve. You immediately sat up and hugged him tightly. Then you two took a look around the room you two are in. It’s set up like a room in the 1940s, but something didn’t feel right. You two couldn’t figure out what it was.
“Where are we?” You asked.
“I don’t know. That’s what I’m trying to figure out too, sweetheart.” Steve says.
As you and Steve continued to figure out where you guys could possibly be, a woman dressed in 1940s clothes comes into the room. Steve instinctively wraps his arms around you. He asked the woman where you and him are , but neither of you got anywhere with the questions. Then you and him are running hand and hand on the road. You two got stopped by a few vehicles and SHIELD agents got out of them. Nick Fury walks towards you guys. Steve wraps his arms around you protectively again.
“Sorry about that back there. We just wanted to break it to you guys.” Fury says.
“Break what to us?” You asked confused.
“You two have been asleep for over 60 years.” He tells you.
Yours and Steve’s eyes grow wide. It’s like one minute, you two are in the 1940s and Steve and Bucky are doing everything they can to protect you and then the next minute, you two are 60+ years in the future without Bucky.
You and Steve had no idea how you two were going to adjust living in modern day, but you two quickly adjusted to it. With SHIELD’s help, it was a little easier for you two. You two are now living in an apartment together. It’s small, but you and Steve call it home. Also, you and him are engaged.
One day, you decided to tagalong with Steve to the gym. You turned into cat form and relaxed on top of his gym bag and watched him punch the punching bag. When Fury walks towards Steve, he sees you laying on Steve’s gym bag. Actually, he doesn’t know that’s you. He also doesn’t know that you have the ability to turn into animals.
“I didn’t know you had a cat.” Fury says.
“I don’t. That’s Y/N. She has the ability to turn into animals.” Steve tells him.
You got off of Steve’s gym bag and turned back into your human form so you can properly greet Fury. Fury was amazed by your ability to turn into animals.
“How come I didn’t know about your powers before?” Fury curiously asks.
“It’s something I don’t generally talk about unless if we’re close friends.” You say.
Fury nods, completely understanding. Then he explains a mission to Steve.
“I’m sure you want your fiancée to have extra protection so you can bring her.” Fury says.
Steve was going to bring you anyway. When the day of the mission came, you and Steve walked hand in hand onto the helicarrier. You sat at the big table while Steve changed into his uniform.
“What do you think, sweetheart?” Steve asks, showing you his new uniform.
You took a good look at Steve’s new uniform. It’s not too different from the one he wore in the 1940s. It’s designed a bit differently. Other than that, he looks great in it.
“I think you look incredibly handsome, baby.” You complimented.
“Thank you, honey.” He smiles.
“You’re welcome.” You smiled back.
When Steve had to get to working on the mission, he was about to rush out of the main room of the helicarrier when you grabbed his arm. You’re not scared. Well, you’re nervous, but you know Steve can handle this mission, but that’s not why you pulled him back to you. He was about to ask you what’s wrong, but you kissed him passionately.
“That’s for good luck.” You say.
“The only good luck I need is you.” Steve says flirtatiously.
You couldn’t help but blush. After the mission, you and Steve went out for shawarma with the Avengers. You also went with Steve and the Avengers when Thor took Loki back to Asgard.
“Wanna go home and pick up where we left off on wedding planning?” You asked your fiancée.
“You know I would never say no to that, sweetheart.” Steve says and kisses you.
2014
You and Steve have been happily married for 3 years now. You two couldn’t have asked for a better life together. Meanwhile, Pierce did digging into your history and found your HYDRA file, which was destroyed by Steve and Bucky in the 1940s, but apparently, HYDRA made copies of it. Pierce read through your file thoroughly. That’s when he got an idea. His idea involves the Winter Soldier.
“During your mission, I want you to bring this woman back with you.” Pierce tells the Winter Soldier, showing him a picture of you.
The Winter Soldier nods and went on his mission. Meanwhile, you and Steve had just got home from going out to dinner when you two ran into Sharon in the hallway.
“Hi, neighbors.” Sharon greets you and Steve.
“Hi.” You and Steve greeted her back.
“It looks like you two had a good night.” She says.
“We did.” You say, smiling up at your husband.
“Well, don’t let me keep you two. Oh and by the way, I think you guys left your stereo on.” She says.
You and Steve frowned in confusion. You and him didn’t turn the stereo on today, which made you two suspicious. Steve unlocks yours and his apartment and you two cautiously walked inside. He picks up his shield and gently pushes you behind him to shield you from whatever threat is awaiting in yours and his apartment. Steve turns off the stereo and you turned on the light. Fury was sitting in a chair a few feet away from you and Steve. You gasped when you saw his injured state. Fury softly shushes both of you and turns the light off.
“Are you ok?” You asked him.
“I’m fine.” Fury says.
Fury shows you and Steve his phone, telling you and him that there’s ears everywhere. That made you two even more suspicious. As soon as Fury stood up from the chair, bullets come through the wall and hits Fury. You screamed and Steve grabs you, pulling you against him and shielding you and him with his shield.
“Stay here.” Steve says.
Steve chases down the shooter, going to the roof. He throws his shield at the shooter- the Winter Soldier and he catches it with his metal hand. He stares Steve down for a few seconds before throwing his shield back at him. The Winter Soldier jumps down, shooting a grappling hook onto something and swinging himself through the window of yours and Steve’s apartment. You screamed again and ran to the door to escape him, but he grabs you before you could even open the door. You squirmed in his grip on you, but then he injects you with a sedative, which made you fall asleep. Then the Winter Soldier reports back to the HYDRA base with you like he was told to.
As soon as the Winter Soldier took you to the HYDRA base, he was told to take you to the lab where you were strapped down to a cold metal table. You don’t know how long you were asleep, but you woke up about a couple hours later. You were in a bit of a daze when you woke up. You took a look around the room, trying to figure out where you are. The equipment, the IV bag, the needles, and the tray of surgical instruments gave you flashbacks of when HYDRA experimented on you in 1943. That’s when you began to freak out.
“This isn’t happening again!” You say frantically.
You tried to get free from the restraints, but it was no use. The restraints are too tight. You looked over at the door when Pierce, Rumlow, a couple HYDRA doctors, and a few HYDRA agents came into the lab.
“Please let me go!” You pleaded.
“Now, why would we do that, Mrs. Rogers?” Pierce says.
“My husband will be pissed when he finds out that you guys kidnapped me.” You say.
Pierce chuckles and walks closer to you.
“Your husband is Captain America, right? We know who he is. We also know who you are.” He says.
Your heart drops and your eyes grow wide when Pierce shows you your HYDRA file.
“How- How do you have that? My husband and my best friend destroyed my HYDRA file in the 1940s.” You say.
“HYDRA made a copy of it when they were experimenting on you.” Pierce says.
You put the pieces together and figured out why you’re there. You’re going to get experimented on again.
“Please, don’t.” You begged, your voice cracking.
“You don’t have a choice, Mrs. Rogers. You’re going to make a wonderful asset for us.” He says.
Pierce walks away from you and nods at the HYDRA doctors. You already know what they’re going to do to you and there was nothing you could do about it. All you were hoping is that Steve is looking for you. Meanwhile, he’s at the hospital with Natasha. The only thing he can think about is that you were kidnapped by HYDRA.
“HYDRA kidnapped my wife again.” Steve says.
“Again?” Natasha asks.
“I saved her in 1943. HYDRA raided the Army base her dad was stationed at and they killed him and took her. They experimented on her and that’s how she got the ability to turn into animals.” He explains. “They’re going to experiment on her again. I can’t let that happen again. I can’t lose her, Nat.” He says, his voice cracking.
“You’ll get her back and I’ll help you. So will Sam.” She says.
While Steve was coming up with a plan to save you from HYDRA again, you were getting experimented on again. You did fight them a bit and try to get away from them, but it was no use. Partly due to the second sedative they injected into you. Everything was a blur after that. Meanwhile, Steve, Natasha, and Sam are on their way to you. Steve’s mind was making him think the worst. He can’t let his mind go there. He knows you’re fine. You have to be fine. You will be fine when he gets you the hell out of there.
When they got to the HYDRA base you’re at, Steve, Natasha, and Sam split up to cover more ground. Steve was getting even more upset than he already was when he couldn’t find you. He kept asking himself where you could possibly be. He checked one last room, which is the lab you’re currently being experimented on in. His heart drops and his eyes grow wide.
“Get the hell away from my wife!” Steve growls.
“Now, why would we do that, Rogers? She would make an amazing asset for HYDRA.” Pierce says.
Steve’s jaw clenches and he cringes when Pierce called you an asset.
“Get the hell away from my wife!” Don’t make me say it again.” Steve says in a threatening tone.
“Or what, Rogers?” Pierce taunts.
Natasha was a few feet behind Steve when she shot Pierce. The few HYDRA agents who are in the lab got their weapons out and aimed them at Steve, Natasha, and Sam. The three of them took them down with ease. Then Steve rushes over to you.
“Y/N, sweetheart, I’m here.” Steve says softly.
You mumbled incoherently and turned your head towards him, your eyes closed. Whatever HYDRA injected you with made you weak. Steve carefully takes the IV out of your arm and then unstraps you from the cold metal table. He picks you up bridal style and takes you home. Steve took care of you as soon as he got you home. He didn’t leave your side for a second. Sam and Natasha took care of you too. Steve was also trying to figure out what experiments HYDRA did on you before he got to you. Natasha found the copy of your HYDRA with an updated piece of paper of what HYDRA experimented on you when the three of them were looking for you.
“What experiments did they do on you, sweetheart?” Steve asks softly, talking to himself.
“This will give the answers you’re looking for.” Natasha says, handing him the copy of your HYDRA file.
Steve’s eyes grow wide and his heart drops when he saw it. He knows for a fact that your HYDRA file was destroyed. Him and Bucky watched it burn years ago.
“How is this possible? Me and Bucky destroyed that in the 1940s.” Steve says.
“They made a copy of it.” Natasha says.
Steve opens the file and reads through the updated piece of paper in it. His jaw clenches as he reads it.
“Whatever they injected with gave her elemental powers.” Steve says.
Steve closes the file and puts it on the nightstand.
“I’m sorry they experimented on you again, darling.” Steve says, his eyes tearing up and his voice cracking.
You woke up after he said that. Steve felt relief wash over him. You took a look around the room. You noticed that you’re that you’re not in HYDRA’s lab anymore. You’re home. Then you looked at your husband.
“HYDRA experimented on me again.” You tell him.
“I know they did, honey, but you don’t have to worry about them ever again. I promise.” Steve says softly.
Like Steve promised in 1943 and in his wedding vows, he’ll do everything he can to protect you.
2016
You and Steve are currently in Bucharest, Romania where Bucky has been hiding out for the past couple years. You quickly noticed that Bucky’s apartment isn’t homey, but you could tell that he tried to make it a bit homey. Steve found a journal on top of the fridge and opened it, smiling when he saw a picture of the three of you in 1943. Then you and Steve sensed a presence behind you and him. You two turned around and saw Bucky.
“Hi, Bucky.” You say softly.
“Hi, doll.” Bucky says.
Bucky noticed yours and Steve’s wedding rings.
“You guys are married?” Bucky asks.
“Yes.” You say.
You walked over to Bucky to give him a hug, but he backed away, not wanting to hurt you again.
“Bucky, it’s ok.” You say softly.
“No, it’s not. I kidnapped you and took you back to HYDRA for you to be experimented on you again. I promised to protect you from them, but instead, I took you back to them.” Bucky says, his voice cracking and his eyes tearing up.
“That is not your fault, Buck. I’m not mad at you for that and neither is Steve. We know it wasn’t you.” You say.
“But it is my fault.” He says.
You gently put your hands on the sides of his head to get him to look you in your eyes.
“James Buchanan Barnes, what you did is not your fault. I know you would never intentionally hurt me. You’re my best friend and I love you. I forgive you too.” You say softly.
Bucky couldn’t help but break down into tears. You hugged him tightly.
“Let me and Steve help you.” You say.
“I can’t. I don’t trust my own mind.” Bucky says.
“Everything is going to be ok. I promise. Steve and I aren’t going to let anything happen to you.” You say.
“She’s right, Buck. We can protect you.” Steve says.
“Let me repay you from the years you protected me.” You say.
“Ok.” Bucky gives in.
You smiled and hugged him again. Steve smiles, knowing that he made the right decision by bringing you to Bucharest to convince Bucky to let you and him help him. Part of him was thinking that Bucky wasn’t going to agree to it and another part of him knew that you could do it. He’s just happy that you were able to convince him to let you and him help him. He’s also happy that you and Bucky got to see each other for the first time in years, which is part of the reason why he brought you to Bucharest with him.
