Two and a half years ago, the Sophie Caldecott and her family received devastating news when her father, Stratford Caldecott was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Sophie recently started to pen down her thoughts and intimate stories of her dad on her blog, as news broke to the family that Stratford only had a few weeks left.
She wrote about how much her father is a huge comic book fan and then proceeded to take a long shot:
She asked Marvel to send her an advanced copy of the new Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier because her dad will be too ill to go to the theatre to watch it and will probably be no longer around when the DVD is released.
Marvel noticed her request and gave in!!! …Sophie received the advanced copy of the newest Captain America instalment.
However, marvel when one step further…
Sophie actually requested at the end of her blog post: “If you have Twitter and want to get involved, please help us by tweeting this blog post to the Avengers actors, asking them to help brighten up a hero with cancer’s last days. Thank you! #CapForStrat,”
So, as per her request (and the Internet’s thrill), the cast of the Avengers and some from the Agents of SHIELD, amazingly, tweeted out their support of Strat (short for Startford) with the hashtag.
Support-tweets came from the likes of see Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), and even Tom Hiddleston (Loki).
As much #EpicWin this is by the Marvel stars, our thoughts go out to the Caldecott family during this difficult time.
Check out their tweets (with pictures) below.
