HERE COMES THE FREEFALL -Chris evans fanfiction
CHAPTER 2Â
The next day
Ava got up early to go for a run and then came home to make pancakes for breakfast. Once she's eaten them, she got her coffee and sits on the terrace to contemplate the beautiful scenery surrounding the house. She gets lost in her own thoughts when her eyes catch a glimpse of the beach. This beach that brings back old but also present memories. She never thought that being on this beach again after so many years would bring back her past. At that moment, her discussion of yesterday with her first love resurfaces.
Yesterday
"Chris? "she says in an unexpected tone. For her, he hasn't changed, maybe his clothes are much more stylish than they were five years ago, his beard has grown and his eyes are still as blue and deeper as the ocean. But it is especially his smile, the smile that made her fall madly in love even more day after day.
"I didn't know you were back" Chris sat down next to her on the rock.
"I just came back" she said, looking at him into his beautiful blue eyes.
"I guess it's not going so well already, seeing as you're here".
"No indeed..." while looking at the ocean. Â A long moment of silence falls between them. They understood each other even without speaking. Chris knew that her parents' arguments and divorce had created a pain in her that no one could explain.
"Why you're here" she asked.
"I've been coming here every year on this date since you left."
"Oh Chris... I..."
"Don't worry, coming here gets me going, I know it's weird but that's how I see it"
"I'm so sorry..."
"I'm happy to see you, everybody here in Cap Cod will be happy to see you, this town misses you and your mom."
Present
Something pulled her out of her mind. A balloon landing at her feet. Her stepmother had three children with her previous husband who died in a car accident. Twins, Ivy and Jana who are the eldest, they are 10 and Adam, aged 6. She already knew them, especially the twins she looked after on weekends. She hates their mom but not them because she knows they had nothing to do with what happened, they are children. After her discussion with Chris, Ava went back to her daddy's, even though she wanted to run away from it all, she couldn't because she loved her daddy. She had to put this whole thing aside to help him with his construction project.
"Kids! Finally I won't be able to drive you to town, I have to go to the library, they need me" shouted Caroline, her mother-in-law, as she arrived on the terrace. The children are disappointed, they wanted to see the new film that came out at the cinema.
"If you want, I can take them into town."
"oh if you don't mind, your dad promised them but he had to go away delivery problem and so did I but now I have to deal with a problem at the library"
"I don't mind."
Caroline approaches her to give her a hug but Ava refuses, backing away. Caroline understands, says goodbye to the children and leaves.
"Come on, kids, I'll take you into town to see the new movie and if you're good afterwards we'll have ice cream.
After the movie, she takes them to Patty's for ice cream. When they arrive, the children choose a table, ready to order their ice cream.
"Ava?" she hears over by the counter. She turns her head, smiles, gets up from the table.
"Carly?" she says, taking her in her arms. Carly is Chris's older sister.
"I'm so happy to see you! Chris told us last night that you were back in Cap Cod."
"Yes, I came back to help build my dad's school."
"I heard he's short of hands to help him, it's good you're here to help him."
"And how are your parents? And Scott and Shana?"
" they're all doing great, the parents went on a cruise for their anniversary, they're coming back in a week, Scott went to Boston and Shana just graduated. »
"And how are you?
" I'm going through a divorce with James, he moved to L.A., Lia's with him, I've got her one time out of two. "
"I'm sorry, Carly, to hear that."
"Don't worry about me, it was better that way, listen I have to go back to work, it was nice to see you again, beautiful."
"me, too, have a good end of day" they give each other a huge hug before Carly leaves.
After eating ice cream, they leave Patty's, the kids want to go for a walk in the park, Ava agrees. On the way to the park, she sees Chris coming out of a DIY store with lots of wooden planks, which he puts in his van.
"Ava! The park is right there," says Adam.
"Go ahead, I'll meet you, the girls keeping an eye on your brother." The children run towards the park. Ava approaches the van.
"What's all this for? »
"Oh Ava, hi! It's for your dad, there was a problem with his delivery, so he asked me to bring over some wooden planks."
"why is he asking you? »
"because I'm working with him to build the school."
"Oh, right, so you're working with him? That's great..."
"he told me you'd come and help us, so we'll see each other often" with a wink.
"Yeah, that's cool..." She didn't even have time to finish her sentence before someone interrupted her.
"Chris, baby, you got to come pay up," said one girl coming out of the store.
"I'm going, I'll see you on the field, so Ava! "Chris says goodbye to Ava.
"You're the mysterious Ava! Nice to meet you! I'm Hailey, Chris's girlfriend."
"Nice to meet you, Hailey! If you'll excuse me, I have to go meet the kids. Bye! »
"bye." Says Hailey. Ava walks towards the park, in her head a lot of misunderstanding, Chris has a girlfriend which is normal, he was not going to wait for her all his life. Why come to their place every year when he has a girlfriend.
