Sorry I’ve been so absent, but I’ve been so busy between my twins, struggling with my Fibromyalgia’s constant flare ups and running my own business I never have any time.

So as many of you know I am now on my 2nd UK Visa in the last 4 years, my current visa is due for an extension so as I’ve been so busy we decided this time to hire a lawyer especially since everything has changed so much. Our financial situation, living situation, 2 children, my inability to work even a part time job away from Home currently.

I spoke to my lawyer yesterday morning about our situation and how near the extension date is to get this application in and paid for ASAP I literally have 2 weeks to do this and send it off to the Home office. Dealing with my health, Cassie’s health and just being a frazzled mother of twins I lost track completely of dates. So this has quite literally snuck up on us. Thankfully once applied for it’s fine to stay regardless of the date from what I’ve been told and then we await a decision. Now a big issue we have had was apparently when I was 20 (5 years ago) when we spoke to the first immigration lawyer about my visa route she gave me ‼️BAD ADVICE‼️ and in turn I then gave other couples the same advice she had given me. For this I feel fucking horrible, I may have given false hope or future upset to these couples as has now come round to me after 5 years. I cannot apologise enough to those who I gave this advice to, I wish I could say it wasn’t my fault but it was. I found a bad lawyer and found out the hard way, and I’m paying for it now. I always told others to seek an immigration lawyers advice to confirm honestly I’m so relieved I did this time around.

She said my Teir 5 Youth Mobility Scheme Visa would count towards my 5 year route to become a Dual Citizen here in the UK since I am Canadian. Now I’ve been informed that my first 2 years here on the YMS Visa do NOT count towards my 5 year stay, and since the only thing we don’t meet in the requirements is the £18,600 yearly income as we are ONLY £1,600 short since I stopped working - this pushes us into the 10 Year Route 😢 this means instead of the 1 year I thought to have left (Not even it would have been 10.5 MONTHS) before I would have applied for my dual citizenship I am beyond devastated. Instead of the Extended Spousal Visa I will be put into a special category for those who have a genuine and subsisting relationship and our two daughters are born British Citizens (they already have dual citizenship as of last month 👌🏻)

She said that as of May of 2017 the implemented this new system as they found it AGAINST human rights and unethical to remove a mother from her children if they are British citizens and meet nearly all of the requirements. I bawled my eyes out after we finished the call yesterday I’ve had such bad anxiety attacks after realising how close this is and different things are right now. I keep having nightmares about men taking me away from my children, my home and my husband. I have worked so hard for this and it devastates me how the UK doesn’t acknowledge a genuine and subsisting relationship along with having children who are citizens they do not grant green cards like North America does 😢
