Martial Master: a detective and pulp style hero inspired by heroes like the green hornet, crimson avenger, and of course the batman but also an expert martial artist inspired by heroes like iron fist, shang-chi, or karate kid (DC). Hes the dead serious type, with complete mastery of his chi and by extension his emotions rarely ever showing any extreme joy or anger.

Captain Fantastic: made in the late 90s an actor was turned superhero with the standard set of super human abilities. The goal was to create a hero to upstage The Ace and put the public's faith in him but when his incompetence was shown he was completely abandoned by the people who made him. Bitter and alone he quits hero work and became a washed up podcaster with what little popularity he has left. However with the world crying out for more heroes he is tempted to make a comeback

Long answer

The government keeps tabs on all superheroes and you can be appointed as one once you willingly register, but it's more like becoming a lawyer or civil servant than like being a cop or something.

The details of being registered are pretty simple you're legally required to perform acts of public service to keep your registration and if you let it expire any public damage you cause is paid out of yournown pocket rather than it being covered by the government.

In this story, Vanish is being hunted by two people who want her dead in small town america

Scene 1:

Awakening behind a building her entire body felt like it was bruised. As she slowly drags herself out of the alley she realizes she's in the middle of nowhere.

Checking her surroundings she walks into the pawn shop she awoke next to.

Vanish:

Hey boss, you got a phone I can use

The shopkeeper, wanting to be helpful, hands her the store phone.

In another city, Utopic city, Jason Rain receives a phone call.

Jason:

Yo

Vanish:

Yeah man hey, I fucked up, got my ass beat something fierce.

Jason:

Where the hell are you?

Vanish:

Figuring that out, hey uhh boss where is this place?

Shopkeeper:

Dominick’s discount pawn shop in Wartown Michigan.

Vanish:

Yeah there.

Jason:

You need me to pick you up?

Vanish:

Nah I gotta deal with what i started. I just need cash.

Jason:

Fine but you better come out of this alive.

Vanish hangs up.

Carter Deadfield-Hayes, originally named ‘Archie Webster’, was born in Tasmania before being moved to an orphanage in Victoria when he was a toddler. He is of Indigenous Australian and British descent. He was adopted by a scientist couple and subsequently moved all the way to Philadelphia where he would grow up. His parents neglected him due to being occupied with their work constantly, to which he would constantly get into trouble and even escaped the house on occasion.

Carter was diagnosed with a rare disease that is 100% lethal if not discovered much earlier on, which he hadn’t been. To combat this, he was given 5 mg doses of a dangerous, toxic and incredibly expensive substance known as ‘Mutakia’. The disease caused his eyesight to deteriorate severely, and after trying to administer the drug himself, he accidentally spilled it on himself, getting some on the right side of his face as well, causing severe burns and malformation. A year after the incident, he got hit by a car while running away from home, breaking his leg, but then it miraculously healed almost instantly. Shortly after this, he discovered the rest of his powers and began to participate in underground street fights.

One day, the fighting ring was busted and Carter was taken in by the Guard Squad, where he found a purpose in life by fighting crime, becoming the one and only; The Peculiar ‘Morphing Kid’

Overtone aka Mauri Salem-Heikkinen

He is the main villain for Morphing Kid, aka Carter Deadfield. He has the ability to manipulate one's senses, powers he had unlocked after being tortured in an underground facility as a child.

Mauri has the ability to control and distort the senses of others, including sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell. He can amplify, dull or forcibly deprive one’s sensations. He can also create vivid hallucinations, disorient his targets by scrambling their sensory input, or induce extreme states such as pain, pleasure, or vertigo. Mauri can do this simply by making eye contact with the individual, but they have to be aware of his presence. Through trial and error, he was able to figure out how to activate this intentionally and no longer does so on accident.

A drawback of this ability is if he overuses it in one setting, more than what he can handle at a time, he will experience severe dissociation, tinnitus and visual hallucinations. As this reminds him greatly of his traumatic past, he will freeze up and sometimes experience panic attacks or seizures as a result.

He despises superheroes, because they neglected to save him when he was being tortured and experimented on as a child. He meets Morphing Kid in Nevada, and resents him after discovering he was also a victim of child abuse but doesn't hold the same resentment that he does.
