god, sorry, but quackity screaming in sheer panic and fear for techno to call his dog off and techno, realizing the fight is over, just saying 'laelaps' and dream immediately standing down gets me.
guard dog behavior.
Saw the “came back - but came back wrong [and all it’s iterations]” post and couldn’t help but think of Canis Corpus.
Dream listing all the ways he’s come back wrong, when he and Techno finally have time to talk. That he’s afraid of disappointing Techno, knowing that death changed him, and that the person Techno knew before isn’t who stands before him now.
Techno trying to see how he could ever be disappointed after having to deal with the grief of losing his friend and then suddenly (impossibly) getting a second chance. And in reality the core fundamentals are still there. Dream still laughs at his jokes, they still snipe at each other and tease back and forth. And sure, thing’s can’t go back to the way they were - but that’s also just a part of life.
“I don’t care that you ‘came back wrong’. I just care that you came back. And if you’ll let me, I’ll spend the rest of my days getting to know you all over again.”
(Okay time to go lie down and cry for a bit about them QAQ)
If Punz and Dream did do a beheading experiment [context] in canis corpus to prepare for his execution, after all was said and done what would Punz think? Would he reminisce on that moment, running it over and over in his head wondering if there was something he overlooked that could have told him of Dream’s plan? Does it bring comfort? Was the death one of the more painless ones so Punz tries to find relief in the knowledge that at least Dream didn’t suffer? Did the experiment make Dream hesitate with his plan?…
i think c!punz would definitely wonder about it during and directly after the execution. they would probably assume that dream was preparing himself for what would happen and that might bring a bit of comfort because it could've been worse (though punz would critique c!quackity's form and the sharpness of his axe and wonder about that).
but after him and techno try to revive dream?
then i think punz might get a little angry. they trust dream and dream trusts them so, rationally, he should probably trust whatever plan dream has. but it's hard to do that when the plan seems to be to die and take away the ability to bring him back from the dead, somehow. i think punz would probably be right to be a bit angry, too. dream was spiraling, worse than he had before, and he was in a dark place. but it still would've hurt punz. there's a reason why they left because what was left for them at that point?
as for dream, i think if anything the experiment would've made him feel more sure of his plan. he's died in more gruesome ways. this will be easy. this will be the end.
and shout out to @wettbewerberrr for the thoughts!
Any hints for the upcoming canis corpus chapter??

this is the funniest way to describe the plot of 'canis corpus'
okay but this is literally just the first chapter of 'canis corpus'
I’m unsure if this has been answered before but in canis corpus why did cdream choose a dog mask?
i'm not sure if i have answered but honestly it's because he needed a fairly generic mask that other people wouldn't be likely to link with him. dogs are a popular pet and they can be menacing which was another aspect that he wanted.
also, there was probably a part of him that was trying to think of something that wouldn't be tied to him and thought of techno and his hound army.
but really, it was because it felt '''generic''' to him and different enough from his old mask that it felt safe!
