true dragon form

so this is obviously extremely different from the norm, and dragons themselves are extremely varied. most of my dragon-knowledge comes from d&d, but I'm going to pull generally from all kinds of fantasy dragons, so don't expect me to stick rigidly to the d&d ruleset, or even loosely. I'm going to have three sort of sub-facets, just so i can adapt everything a little better. taking from Pokemon, I'm going to call these forms. so let's get started.

the primary form of dragon facet candy, and the default I'll refer to as "dragon facet". this is your very traditional European dragon with four legs and a pair of wings.

as dragons go, true dragon Candy is relatively small - but still significantly larger than humanoids. her torso is about a dozen feet in length, with an eight-foot neck and a twenty foot whiplike tail. she's generally slender and lithe, with greater concern for movement than muscle. (she remains substantially stronger than most humanoids, but as dragons go she's below-average in terms of physical strength) she has a 30-foot wingspan, with each wing reaching 14 to 15 feet when fully extended. these wings are pretty substantial in coverage, giving her huge lift, allowing her to lazily fly high in the sky. uniquely, she has a sort of in-built roller that allows her to tighten and sweep the wings, generating less lift, but massively improving midair control, allowing her to quickly switch between lazy gliding and intense high-speed and high-maneuverability flight. her body has slight indents behind her legs, allowing her to fold them in and increase aerodynamics.

her coat of scales is a deep royal purple, fading to dark blue-gray on her belly and wings. "accessories", such as horns, claws, and so on, are all dark gray with bright yellow tips. her teeth do not have yellow tips. her head is adorned with two curling horns, spiraling from the sides of her head around ¾ of a turn before ending in points. her teeth are kept at a full inch long and wicked sharp, excepting two fangs at the front, which grow like saber teeth to a length of three inches. her claws, five to a hand, are kept sharpened at all times. her tail is entirely smooth along its length, and if somehow cut off, will grow back fully within a week, depending on how much was removed. her eyes are pure yellow. each wing has two claws, which can be used as extremely inefficient manipulators, but are better than nothing if her other hands are full.

she has control over lightning and wind. similar to her other facets, this lightning is not accompanied by thunder, allowing her to be extremely stealthy with her lightning attacks. her control over wind allows her to fly even lazier, or if her wings are damaged beyond flight, she can bring herself out of a crash landing. she prefers to magically manifest lightning, but in a pinch, is fully capable of exhaling lightning bolts. unfortunately, because this is a separate type of magic, she can't silence the thunder, so she uses her breath weapon only as a last resort. sometimes this means she's bullied for not having a breath attack (something most dragons are very proud of having)

as dragons tend to be, true dragon Candy is lazy, prideful, and aloof. she generally sees little reason to converse with the lesser species (particularly humans), so she generally keeps to herself. of course, if others seek her out, she'll indulge them for as long as they're interesting, but the moment she gets bored she's liable to simply fly off without a word. she isn't violent, but if she's insulted by someone (she sees as) less powerful than her, she will fight back with no mercy. insulting her also isn't easy; it generally takes many repeated presses of very specific buttons to set her off, and usually she'll simply fly off before it gets to that point.

wyvern form

this form is generally more feral than true dragon form, and has a different body shape. she has two legs and two wings and is smaller. she has a six foot torso, three foot neck, and ten foot tail. her wingspan is fourteen feet, making each wing 6-7 feet each. she lacks the sophisticated roller in her wings, instead they're always swept back into "combat mode". she remains rather slender, but is relatively more muscular than true dragon form.

her coloration remain unchanged, but her teeth are all fully yellow and she has no saber teeth. in addition, she now has venom, with each tooth and claw secreting a thin yellow fluid. the venom is relatively weak, enough just to weaken and slow victims, but it's also extremely conductive to electricity, making victims much more likely to get hit by her lightning abilities. being more feral, she no longer fears thunder as much, and makes extensive use of her lightning breath, often spreading splats of venom as she exhales, creating a wide shotgun blast of lightning accompanied by a concussive blast of thunder. she's still frightened by this, so every time she uses this attack, she reflexively leaps back and takes flight. in addition, she now has three claws to a wing, and each is much more dexterous.

she's much more feral, but still capable of reasoning. she never speaks to lesser species, even if they seek her out, instead simply flying off or attacking. she can be bribed to listen with offerings of food - particularly with large quantities of sweets - but she will rarely respond with words.

humanoid form

this is more for settings that require a more dragon-born type of design, where she's fully humanoid but has draconic traits.

she stands at her default height. her horns are reduced in relative size, with less curling. her wingspan (when she's allowed wings) is eight feet, and her wings resemble those of her wyvern form, with no rollers and always set into "combat mode". her claws and teeth are now retractable, and fully yellow. her eyes are fully yellow, but with thin bluish purple reptilian slit-shaped pupils.

she maintains skill with lightning and wind magic, and maintains the thunderous breath, resulting in a preference to using her magic instead. she can also choose to secrete her wyvern form's venom, though only through her teeth.

she maintains the deep-purple-blue scales, and takes great pride in their beauty.

I'll start with her outfit. this is one case where flamboyancy is not only reasonable but almost expected. her outfit consists of a loose white silky blouse under a long dark blue coat whose tails reach past her knees. she wears a leather belt over the coat set with various gems, each with some slight black coloration within. none of them are her real soul gem. she wears dark forest green pants, which cover the upper parts of her black boots. her hair is tied up into twin ponytails, each trailing down past her shoulders. around her neck is a leather choker, with another fake soul gem. her real soul gem is set into the sole of her right boot, with a matching fake gem in the opposite boot. optionally, she has two heavy leather gloves with wide cuffs.

so. in case it wasn't clear from my url, my magical girl facet is going to be made based on pmmm. I'm not as familiar with other magical girl series, so i can't say how compatible it'll all be.

as age goes, she's younger than default, by necessity of the incubators targeting younger girls. in other settings she might be older, but in any case she has little trouble adapting to the new circumstances and learns very quickly how to fight and use her magic.

biologically, there's no difference from default. she's just a baseline human.

in terms of personality, she's much more defensive in general. she isn't opposed to making friends, but she's very slow to open up which makes it hard for her to make allies. she wears the fake soul gems because she doesn't trust other girls not to stab her in the gem over a seed or two.

magically, she maintains the use of lightning and silencing of thunder, enhancing her crossbow with magical lightning bolts. she can affect the trajectory to some degree, allowing her to strike targets around corners or to purposefully miss. if she chooses, she can have the lightning bolt impart the sound of thunder into the body of whatever she strikes, stunning the target while anyone nearby would only hear a quiet crack. her lightning bolts also take on a slight blue tint.

her soul gem resembles a star sapphire. her wish was to never be alone in the dark again, so she has the power to magically create lights at very little cost and which last for a very long time.

now for the fun part.

when she falls to despair, Candy becomes Astrid, the bright witch. her nature is fear. she takes the shape of a miniaturized storm cloud, in a labyrinth of endless sky. her familiars are pure white or light gray clouds that rain endlessly on intruders. they don't cause any harm, but they do their best to lead invaders away from Astrid. Astrid herself patrols her labyrinth, a black blot among her familiars, but unlike the familiars, she actually has power. she can cause lightning to strike by chaining it from herself through her familiars to wherever in the labyrinth it needs to go. each new familiar increases the power of the lightning multiplicatively, so the greater the distance the attack has to travel, the more powerful the resulting attack. failing that, she can disperse herself into her familiars, creating a defense intended to make the intruder believe attacking her is too much effort and just give up. of course, she can tell the difference between magical girls and mundane humans, and humans get no such mercy.

I'll start with the outfit. as with the default, vampire Candy strongly prefers dark clothing, using cool colors when she has to wear clothes, especially preferring very dark purple. she also has a black parasol. she doesn't need it, though. headcanon alert! vampires don't burn away to ash in the sun. their vampiric powers are weakened during the day in general, whether they're under the sun or not, and direct sunlight has no effect whatsoever. this is (currently) the only Candy who will wear boots.

so, let's do the vampire facet. this is gonna involve a lot of personal headcanons wrt vampirism, so I'll explain those as they come up.

Candy has been a vampire for years. she's not ancient as vampires go, but she's put on a few hundred years.

now let's talk biology. first and foremost, Candy does not need to consume blood to continue living. blood is more like a power reservoir for vampire magic, and drinking blood makes her stronger, but by no means does she need it to live. her eyes are dark blue sclera around brilliant green irises with black pupils. her irises turn red when she uses magic.

vampires are made by having one's blood fully drained, and the dry body enchanted with a spell to bring it unlife. the new vampire holds no loyalty or animosity to their "patron", and in fact rarely know who made them. any vampire can create a new vampire, but it's generally taboo to create a vampire out of someone you're not already familiar with. often a vampire will vampirize a thrall they have some connection to, and that creates the next generation of vampires.

vampire magic is varied and fantastic. just about any magical effect imaginable can be created through catalyzing live blood, with the blood of more powerful creatures creating more powerful effects - a drop of dragon blood has substantially more power than a dozen pigs' worth of blood, for example.

Candy prefers to use her magic for slothful purposes. she summons invisible servants, she manifests bat wings, animates household objects to do chores, and so on. the only thing she doesn't animate is kitchenware - she still loves cooking and baking and does these herself. she may not need to eat anymore, but she still loves the tastes.

in terms of weapons, she still keeps a number of crossbows ready to hand, including a hand crossbow somewhere on her person at all times. she also manifests magical spears when necessary.

the first facet I'm going to cover is the angel facet. I've long been enamored with angels, both the biblically accurate masses of wings and eyes and haloes and the more classical humanoids.

so, first, to define: according to Wiktionary, a facet is "One among many similar or related, yet still distinct things." when i refer to facets with regard to Candy, this is what i mean: one part of her, not necessarily a full separate personality, but a group of traits that are dominant together. she's the same person, but she looks and acts differently.

Candy's angel facet starts simply. in stark contrast to the default, she wears long, flowing whites, be it dresses, togas, what have you. around her neck is a loose copper collar adorned with eyes. she has a simple halo, a warm golden light from behind her head. this is the only facet where she doesn't mind being barefoot, but she still prefers simple slippers or sandals.

as angels go, Candy is generally on the younger end. obviously she appears in her mid-twenties, if she were human, but in angel terms she tends towards younger, if the setting allows for angels to come into existence after the beginning of time. she's not the most experienced divine figure.

now, for biology. being an angel, Candy's facet has wings. six of them. (of course, if a setting has strict limits on wings, based on experience or age or status or whatever, she has however many fits her place) all three pairs have soft white feathers. the first pair comes from her upper back, between her shoulders, and is the smallest pair of the three. they're about 12 to 14 inches in length. these wings fold forward over her collarbone. the second pair is the more traditional location, sprouting from her upper-middle back, and is the largest pair. at full span, each wing ranges from 48 to 56 inches, and fold snugly against her back. the third pair comes from her lower back, and range from 24 to 30 inches. they fold forward to cover her hips.

with wings out of the way, we can go to changes from the default. her hair is much longer and a little straighter, but still somewhat wavy. nominally it falls to her waist, but goes longer when wet or straightened. her eyes are exclusively the inset heterochromia; green inside blue. depending on setting, she may have golden pupils. she's thinner than her default, as angels don't need to eat.

in terms of powers and weapon design, it's largely unchanged from default. her weapons are more flowy and divine-looking, but the general design is the same. having divine power, she has control over lightning and thunder, and in spite of her divinity, she retains her mortal fears, particularly of thunder. being that she has wings, she doesn't worry about heights, but she is much more afraid of water - her wings aren't waterproof, and flying while wet is difficult at best.
