Alpha!Ghost who scares too many omega's with his reputation, skill, size and scars. The few omega's brave enough to get close are violently rebuffed, practically thrown aside as he runs them through their paces. Price is determined to find the right partner for the traumatised man and leaves him unassigned for years.

Omega!Soap who pisses off alphas left and right with his alpha-like aggression and refusal to submit. It certainly doesn't help that he bests them on and off the field like child's play. Price almost doesn't bother getting him on the task force, no matter how much value he thinks the Scot would add, but after reading through his jacket the captain decides to give it a go.

Ghost practically chokes when he's told he's been assigned an omega and swears it won't work as he storms out of Price's office. Soap rolls his eyes when introduced to "his alpha", like the knot-head is any different than all the others they tried to force on him.

Somehow they're a vision on the field. Past their dynamics and assignment they're everything a commanding officer could dream. And after the shitshow that was Las Almas it's like they've found a way past it all.

Until a mission fucks it all up.

Ghost is burning up from an induced rut and it's just the 2 of them in the tiny safe house, near a day until exfil arrives. Soap wants to help but Ghost refuses even scenting. Through his addled words the sergeant realises the alpha is afraid - he grew up seeing his alpha father's abuse of his omega mother, surrounded by so many in similar circumstances, was subjected to abuse himself by Roba and his men. He refuses to hurt Johnny.

"You won't hurt me. I'll show you how."

When exfil comes they find a tired pair of operators. Price sits, hard, when he notices the forms for shared heat/rut on his desk a weak later.
