Hey my friend, thanks for the ask. About the lyrics yes, it’s not a surprise the mess this song caused in the fandom when Camila said that she wrote her part when she was 16 and we haven’t aware of her dating someone until a year later.
And part of the lyrics are interesting also.
I was talking with a mutual about it and my friend told me about this something like of lack of clear communication, commitment and abandonment. The last part of the lyrics said “Have mercy on me, please” “I messed up to the third degree”. Camila’s verse talked about she screwed up someone else, made this person suffer and if you remember Expectations lyrics the song talked about the same issue, the lack of communication.

We can say that in this song of Camila with Mark the lack of communication and commitment took a real deal, and the only thing I can say for sure it’s their love. If this song is related to Camren it’s true, they have these problems but at the same time the love is still there, fighting against these problems and I really hope, (I think it did) that love win over all the mess.
I’m a believer of the phrase: “If there’s a small spark of love between two people that used to love to each other with all they had, they can get over any bad situation”
