A melancholic man, experiencing a fall from grace. The perceptive will sometimes notice sad looks on his face when he is alone, or when he first knows he has to issue a dire punishment or kill someone. He doesn't like his job, but he has a profound sense of duty, honor, and loyalty, as those in the Camarilla are expected to have. He puts on smirking, taunting airs, but only sometimes does being a roguish asshole entertain him. Sometimes it's just for show. Dry, dark humor, but no sarcasm. He's good at controlling the way he comes across, and even tries to be friendly sometimes.

City rejects “monster” videos as fabrications; death toll in Golden Triangle blast rises to 34
By Renata Ostrowski and Curtis Hoyle
Post-Gazette Staff Writers
Updated 11:48 a.m.
City and county officials on Monday flatly rejected the authenticity of cellphone videos circulating online that appear to show a large, misshapen figure moving through downtown Pittsburgh during Saturday night’s fatal gas explosion, calling the footage the work of AI generators and warning that sharing it interferes with the investigation.
“There was no creature,” Public Safety Director Alan Pryluck said at a morning briefing at the City-County Building. “There was a ruptured transmission main under Forbes Avenue. Thirty-four people are dead. I would ask everyone to think about those families before they hit repost.”
The death toll rose Monday from 29. Twelve people remain hospitalized, four in critical condition at UPMC Presbyterian. Peoples Natural Gas confirmed a “catastrophic failure” on a 24-inch line and said crews had isolated the segment by 3 a.m. Sunday. The company declined to say whether the line had been inspected in the last five years.
The videos began appearing on TikTok and X around 11:40 p.m. Saturday. The most widely shared clip runs 19 seconds, was apparently shot from a fifth-floor window on Wood Street, and shows what appears to be a mass of pale flesh, roughly the height of a delivery truck, crossing an intersection and pulling a parked sedan over on top of itself. Several other clips, shot at street level, are too dark and too unsteady to make out much beyond movement and screaming.
Post-Gazette reporters have not been able to verify any of the footage.
Dr. Amara Oyelaran, who studies synthetic media at Carnegie Mellon, reviewed four of the clips at the paper’s request and said the Wood Street video contains “the kind of temporal inconsistencies you’d expect from a diffusion model,” including shadows that fall in two directions and a fire hydrant that changes position between frames.
“It’s not a hard call,” she said. “That said, I want to be careful. People are going to take my quote and use it to explain away everything they saw, and I only looked at four videos out of what is now dozens.”
The FBI’s Pittsburgh field office said it is assisting with “the identification of coordinated inauthentic activity” around the incident. A spokeswoman would not say whether the bureau is investigating the explosion itself.
The official account has not satisfied everyone who was there.
Marisol Vega, 31, a bartender at a Market Square restaurant, said she was smoking behind the building when the noise started. She described a sound she could feel in her sternum, and then people coming up Forbes at a full run.
“They tell me it was a gas main,” Vega said. “Okay. Then why did I see a woman with her arm gone at the shoulder and no burns on her?”
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office said preliminary autopsy results would not be released this week and declined to characterize the injuries. A spokesman said the delay was “a function of caseload.”
Two city firefighters who responded from the Second Ward station described damage on the 400 block of Wood Street that they said did not match a blast pattern. Both spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to talk to reporters, and both said they had been instructed Sunday to route all questions to Public Safety. One of them mentioned a Chevrolet Malibu that had been folded roughly in half around a light pole. Peoples Natural Gas, asked about vehicle damage, referred questions to the city.
Mayor Deborah Kwan, who visited the site Sunday, spent much of Monday’s briefing on infrastructure. The city has 1,900 miles of gas distribution line, she said, some of it cast iron laid before the Second World War, and she called on the state Public Utility Commission to accelerate replacement.
Asked directly whether she had personally viewed the videos, Kwan said she had.
“I’ve seen them,” she said. “They’re not real. Next question.”
Downtown remains closed between Grant Street and Stanwix, with no timeline for reopening. National Guard engineers arrived Monday afternoon to assist with structural assessments, a deployment the governor’s office described as routine.
Staff writer Devin Marsh contributed. Anyone with information about the Saturday incident is asked to contact Pittsburgh Police at 412-323-7800.

It's hard to take Camarilla seriously where I live. Because in my native language "Camarilla" sounds very much like "a Mosquito", or more accurately "a Gigantic Mosquito". Which is fitting for a cabal of bloodsuckers ^-^
About the scepter and the rose
On Reddit, one user asked: Why are Ventrue considered the "force" and Toreador considered the "scalpel" of VTM?
Yours truly couldn't help but ask this question, as the Rose Clan and the King Clan are among his favorites. A compilation of the answers follows.
Short answer: Read the clanbooks of both clans.
Longer answer:
Because Ventrue embody the aspect of power through leadership, business management, and strategy, while Toreador often choose culture, art, intrigue, creativity, and even battlefields like Elysium as their battleground.
The Ventrue are the most hierarchical, second only to the Tremere in their structure. For Ventrue, the concept of Dignitas is important—a kind of embodiment of respect and dignity, earned through one's actions.
Toreador are much more disunited, although they can unite in guilds based on common interests. They can earn authority both through their creativity and by participating in social games and cultural events. Toreador, as a rule, are able to create a pleasant cultural background, work with style, and approach humanity more closely, while preserving their humanity. During the Dark Ages, the Toreador dominated France, while the Ventrue were in Germany, Italy, and England (though all clans were present everywhere).
Imagine a community of businessmen, where respect for established, senior figures in high positions prevails, where there's a corporate culture, where matters are discussed in terms of power and financial assets. That would be the Ventrue.
While the other side is made up of all sorts of creators: musicians, writers, designers, artists, party animals, hobbyists, artisans creating practical things, art historians, intellectuals. Of course, both sides can be of all types. But in the case of the Toreador, there's a more secular approach to elitism than, say, the corporate-hierarchical style of the Ventrue.
Both clans support the Camarilla Traditions, on which Elysium, for example, is built.
Because Ventrue are typically associated with images of power, leadership, and their strong point is to subjugate, assert their authority, earn vast resources, fight, and be strategists. However, there is a so-called period of peace, as described by Shakespeare:
Now are our brows bound with victorious wreaths; Our bruised arms hung up for monuments; Our stern alarums changed to merry meetings, Our dreadful marches to delightful measures. Grim-visaged war has smoothed his wrinkled front; And now, instead of mounting barbed steeds To fright the souls of fearful adversaries, He capers nimbly in a lady's chamber To the lascivious pleasing of a lute.
The Toreador clan uses the Camarilla's institutions and social culture to define concepts of "beauty" and "worthiness" through the organization of Elysiums, various gatherings, assemblies, and other forms such as exhibitions and discussions. The Toreador are considered a social clan (but don't underestimate us in battle), and as such, the forms of this social interaction vary. Toreadors often become harpies and Guardians of Elysium, as these roles require the ability to communicate, navigate high society, and know how to say the right thing. Did you see the AJC piece?
mole_rat_king—Today at 1:47 AM
"drained like that" is now in print. It's an actual quote from a neighbor.
dixiepipeworks—Today at 1:52 AM
I saw it around 9. I've been on the phone since then.
dixiepipeworks—Today at 1:52 AM
Who let it get to four? That's a serious question.
mole_rat_king—Today at 1:53 AM
That's not ours to ask. B says the problem child isn't one of the residents, and nobody downstairs claims him.
mole_rat_king-Today at 1:53 AM
This means freelancer or newcomer or someone's mess from the west side wandering east.
dixiepipeworks-Today at 1:55 AM
Great, I love that for us.
dixiepipework-Today at 2:15 AM
Okay, status update. I know who the ME source in the article is. There are exactly three people in that office who'd talk to a reporter, and two of them owe Ruby money.
mole_rat_king-Today at 2:16 AM
Handle it gently. No drama. We don't need a leaker to have an "accident" two weeks after talking to the paper. That's a second story.
dixiepipeworks-Today at 2:17 AM
I'm not new.
dixiepipeworks-Today at 2:17 AM
Ruby calls the debt, and the source has a reason to relocate. A cousin in Chattanooga, whatever. It's quiet.
mole_rat_king-Today at 2:19 AM
Fine. What about the reports themselves?
dixiepipeworks-Today at 2:21 AM
Renfro's prelim hasn't been finalized. Our guy in records can lose the earlier bloodwork on Boetticher and Ashford in the system migration. They've been complaining about that database for a year
dixiepipeworks-Today at 2:21 AM
The John Doe from Oakland is tougher. The body's already released and cremated. However, the paperwork says exsanguination in three places
mole_rat_king-Today at 2:22 AM
The paperwork can say anemia. It can say a lot of things.
mole_rat_king-Today at 2:24 AM
The bigger issue is Wray. She's sticking to the "not connected" story, but she seemed uncertain about the question about the blood during the press conference. If a fifth one appears, she will backtrack. Then we will have a task force and cameras on Boulevard every night.
dixiepipeworks-Today at 2:25 AM
So there can't be a fifth one.
mole_rat_king-Today at 2:25 AM
That's right.
mole_rat_king-Today at 2:26 AM
B wants the problem solved before the weekend. He said if we find him first, it's a courtesy; if Frost's team finds him first, it becomes political, and everyone's basement gets inspected. Those were his words, roughly.
dixiepipeworks-Today at 2:27 AM
Roughly, haha. I bet. XD
dixiepipeworks—Today at 2:29 AM
feeding pattern's all inside a mile of the beltline. whoever it is walks or can't range far. I'd start with the tent camps under Freedom Pkwy, people there see everything and nobody interviews them

dixiepipeworks—Today at 2:30 AM

mole_rat_king—Today at 2:31 AM

mole_rat_king—Today at 2:33 AM
one more thing. the councilwoman requested a briefing. it needs to happen and it needs to be boring. her chief of staff plays cards with somebody Ruby knows so the briefing gets scheduled, it's forty minutes of overdose statistics, everybody leaves reassured
dixiepipeworks—Today at 2:34 AM
you ever think about how much of this job is scheduling meetings
mole_rat_king—Today at 2:34 AM
every night of my life
mole_rat_king—Today at 2:35 AM

dixiepipeworks—Today at 2:35 AM
