Go back to the day-to-day grind of the stinky subway and kamikaze bike messengers and way too many tourists slowing down on the sidewalk to gawk at Stark Tower. Eat a few questionable hot dogs from carts, get discount tickets to some off-off-Broadway play, and wander the bramble in Central Park. Just be normal for a while without some world-ending crisis to deal with.

Is this based on Callahan's crosstime Saloon?

Indeed it is!  It’s a series of stories about Callahan’s Crosstown Diner in NYC told from the POV of the people who work there who all have little mutant abilities at low-levels (like making a damn fine cup of coffee or hearing across the room or never cutting themselves with a knife).  They parallel the MCU and the tv shows, but along the way I’ve done some “fixing” so they’re only loosely in line with the canon.

Because, apparently, none of my circle here have ever visited Callahan’s. This must change. Start here...

Mostly out of print from what I can tell, but available at many a used book outlet. ANY ‘Callahan’s Crosstime Saloon’ collection will do. Once read, you’ll understand why the Doctor drops in from time to time.

Come to think of it, ANY book by Spider Robinson comes highly recommended.
