     “You can’t be serious!”

Hunk couldn’t leave this people behind. Sure, they had rescued a good amount of people but that didn’t cross Hunk’s mind. He was worried about the rest that he COULDN’T save. He had to do something. There was something that he cold do right? Right?

“Shiro--We have to... Look, they’re calling out to us!”

                  “keith, don’t be ridiculous.” shiro approached the red paladin and placed his left hand on his shoulder. “you’re part of our team. it wouldn’t be the same without you.” he gently gave keith a reassuring squeeze in the shoulder followed by a smile of his own.

“Right...” he muttered, his voice small and a bit strained. He scrubbed at his face and shifted his gaze to the side, avoiding Shiro’s eyes because he couldn’t...

He knew Shiro meant well, but the words felt strangely empty in light of recent events. Everybody else carried on like everything was the same when in reality they had been so different... at least, that’s what he felt in his heart.

a soft sigh escaped the black paladin, “of course, i miss someone.” while he wasn’t open about his family ties back on earth, just a select few knew about them. he’s an adult and the leader of the group, he wanted to have a strong front for the rest of the team. he mumbled quietly, “i miss my family.”

“I’m sorry... it must be rough, being so far away.”

There’s so much repressed longing and melancholy in him, it’s almost heartbreaking. She truly feels for him — it’s not like Shiro can open a comlink to his loved ones from deep space. 

Antok stood next to Shiro, silently watching whatever the paladins were doing. He thinks that they are playing something called a “video game” but he had absolutely no idea what that was. He tilted his head lightly as he looked at what was on the screen as if he could actually comprehend what was going on on said screen, he couldn’t. 

“You can’t eat water, Lance.”

“You seem a little... troubled,” she prods gently, finally daring to approach the black paladin. The man seems more closed off than she remembers, a deep set frown marring his features as he lingers at the edges of the rebel base. “Is there something on your mind?”
