Coming back to his private office in the Order of Hermes' headquarters and finding Kage there had stopped being a surprise. What Sebastián found truly remarkable was how Kage always showed up whenever he was having a difficult day. He had just walked out of an awful trial where he was unable to prove a corrupt archmage was a danger to society for its affiliation with a genocidal vampire sect... To say he needed a pick me up would be an understatement.

Did Kage know? Why was he here unannounced? Was the demon even aware of the way his presence made the mage's heart skip a beat?

Usually, Sebastián would scold him from appearing in the very building of an Order who would hunt him just for being a demon. Today? Today Bas merely closed the door behind him and started walking closely.

"I am not trying to be obtuse about this, Galeb," Sebastián insisted, putting his cup of coffee down and taking one second to collect his thoughts, and to regain his composure too.

"All I'm saying is that there's a party and I have an invitation for a plus one and... Honestly, I was kind of hoping to brag about the beautiful man who stole my heart and maybe slow dance with him."

He made a pause. A sip of coffee was had.

"I guess it's only fair that you're confused," he explained softly, realizing how his speech might've created a few knots in the other's mind.

"My biological father, Paolo, is still very much alive. He lives back in Mexico, I think," he added, his eyes a little darkened by the memory of that man. Not something he was too fond of reminiscing, even if more than a decade had past since he last saw the man.

"Oh, do not fret, Max," Sebastián offered as warmly as he could. "Any friend of Agus is a friend of mine... Although I am sure you two aren't exactly friends anymore."

It was said with grace, with some sense of complicity too. While Sebastián had absolutely no clue about this man's true identity, he knew enough from Agustín to offer the kindest welcome he could.

"You know, the fun thing about hanging out with you is that whenever you say you have something you wanna try on me, I never know if it's a cursed necklace or a sex toy..."

It wasn't a complaint, not at all. He trusted Corvid enough by that point to roll with whatever it was that he had in mind. Such was the result of knowing each other for years. And with the eagerness in which Sebastián replied to Corvid's every call, he certainly didn't plan on changing their dynamics any time soon.

"No," he stated bluntly, growing tired of their argument already. How could he not when the world around them was so demanding and exhausting already? Life wasn't easy, not for the executioner, not for the quaesitor... So why on earth would they insist on making this (whatever it was) complicated as well?

Sebastián had a terrible habit of making enemies of the wrong people. It was bound to happen when you did your utmost best to weed out corruption off the Order of Hermes. So far, he had always been able to come out on top of certain assassination attempts and today wouldn't be the exception.

What he didn't expect would happen was that he'd have an audience when he was fighting off a group of golems conjured by the one mage he had been investigating lately. And he would've taken a moment to be offended over his nemesis thinking a few poorly made constructs could actually kill him, even if they managed to get a few hits in.

"Thank you for granting me an audience, your majesty," Sebastián started, siguring this was the right way to address the man in front of him. "I understand these are... trying times."

How could he not? With the tensions rising between mages and werewolves, he knew they were one bad day away from a full scale conflict between their factions. All because some low ranking mages decided to be assholes...

But there he was, paying a visit alone to the leader of the wolves in hopes that some diplomacy could prevent a war. As much as his Order disliked contact with other kinds of supernatural beings, it's not like ignoring the problem will make it go away. Not when blood had already been spilled.
