Like for a short starter from Patrick
V: ascended/corrupted (will be formally named later)
A version of Patrick who was kidnapped by a person or group who tried to force him to ascend, employing his need to help in an effort to help him in return, whether he liked it or not.
The end result? A many-eyed, angel-like look that would make it impossible for him to ever fully blend in with humanity again. Now he's trapped in this vessel until it dies... but as far as he can tell, it is immortal.
Still loves humans, but is much more likely to voice every resentful or cynical thought he's ever had about them. He's also still trying to learn how to relate better, but with a new obvious and severe disadvantage.
Yes, he can fly; yes, he's significantly stronger and faster now and has much more control over his brief visits to other dimensions, or essentially folding two points in space together to allow him to converse with someone who might be on a totally different plane of existence. None of that helps him fulfill his reason for staying on Earth in the first place, but "Change" is leaving him as-is, even in what Patrick sees as a broken state. What else can he do but keep trying, no matter how futile the effort may be?
It's much harder for him to think like a human than it used to be, so he tends to try to operate on what he thinks his ethics would have been before the transformation. When he's not sure, he will seek other opinions. Human friends' opinions, if possible, but failing that, others are welcome to chime in, too. No, he will not always remember to fully explain the situation.
He'd been staring at his betrayers for almost an hour, chuckling softly to himself from time to time.
After his transformation, they'd grabbed at his wings, his clothes, his hands, until finally Patrick shoved them aside and took flight, retreating to the roof of a nearby building.
And then someone came up from the loft to join him... or had they just appeared? They might not quite be in the same place, not as he would have understood it yesterday. Still, Patrick paused to greet the newcomer with a bright, affectionate grin, though he never took his eyes off the traitors.
"What do you think, friend? Should I kill them? Orrrr... should I risk letting someone less merciful decide their fates?"
Someone, perhaps, who wouldn't spare their family members, or even the Earth itself. What was more monstrous? The violence he'd have to engage in should he choose to respond aggressively, or risking innocent lives if he simply refused the responsibility of dealing with this himself?
A beginning for my verses page for Patrick!

Carrd Update: Notes on Patrick
Typically, if his consciousness is trapped somewhere (or he believes it to be so) that is not an organic corporeal form, he will be unable to access the majority of his abilities as a "wraith". And thanks to his understanding with himself, the entity's greater consciousness will almost always wait centuries or millennia before it tries to intervene, even to free itself. Town that gives you amnesia, digital world, somewhere between dimensions... he can't just send his mind to a different place if he doesn't remember that's an option.
"Look." He'd returned with two cups of steaming hot coffee, and as he spoke, Patrick set one down in front of his colleague. "After this shift is over, you need to get some rest." Stifling a yawn of his own, he attempted to look nothing but stern and practical as he stared the other down.

"Think anyone would notice if we borrowed this for a few days?" Patrick rarely took anything out of a haunted house, even after its inhabitants seemed to have moved on. The chances of a lingering curse were just too high, especially with something like a book or a journal. But Patrick had known the writer, and if he left this behind, who else would take the contents seriously?
