The woods are lovely dark and deep. Or however the poem went. It runs through her mind the way the breeze runs through her hair as she and Goose take a run through the woods. Cake was more of a morning guy, but Goose? He refused to leave her side most of the time. Cake also hated the woods and Goose at least tolerated them. Lydia? She never liked them. But the beach was now too cold and with the days getting shorter she didn't trust the fog that seemed to settle over the town. Her movements connect with her breath which connects with the sounds. The leaves crunch underneath her shoes and the paws of her companion.
Ugly metal clanking hidden underneath earth followed by the whining and screaming of Goose, her blood runs cold. "No. No no no." She runs back to her dog, trying to calm him as he just flops onto the ground, chest rising and falling quickly "It's okay, it's okay boy, here." She tries to pry it off his leg only for him to snarl and snap and start yelping more. He's bleeding and his leg is horrifically damaged. Her grip isn't strong enough to pry the jaws off his leg that were meant for some other animal. The panic rises in her, the wind picks up, it's almost as if she can feel the life and will leaving her trusty companion. So she screams. The release from her chest relieves the pressure and she vows to return for him. She screams for help as she sprints back towards the edge of the woods. "Help me!" She screams, running to the nearest house, screaming Jay's name as she makes her way across his property. Micah's lights weren't on or she would've gone there, but she just needed muscle right now. "Jay! Please!" Shaking hands drenched in blood as she calls for him, pounding on his front door. "Jay! I need help!"
