Bullseye — S-T (ever/never)
Bullseye rides the fine line between harmonized power pop and country rock, veering towards Teenage Fanclub on ardent, clanging “Dangers of the Heart” and cutting back towards a ragged Neil Young-into-Old 97s furor for “Get Started.” The NYC four-piece (once of Minneapolis) spews a loose but raucous rocking sound in this introductory EP: six songs, two digital bonus tracks, every one of them worth hearing.

An afternoon medley of light breeze and chirping fairies is suddenly interrupted by the sharp sound of snapping branches. A distant rumble, and then, a deep booming roar followed by the keratinous clacking of beak. The source of all the discord reveals itself in the form of two great byrds locked in ferocious combat.
A male white-faced malleorn has mounted an ambitious predation attempt on a blue gorn. The blue gorn is a prime specimen, average sized and in good health. Such quarry is a rare target for a predatory thescelornid as great as even the malleorn. Even so, the reason for this choice is simple.
Desperation.
The malleorn has gone for weeks without substantial food, and he's nearly ran through his reserves dry. Not to mention, mating season is just over the horizon, and he must acquire himself a great deal of calories if he is to survive the coming fast. This blue gorn could just be the prize he needs.
Unfortunately for the malleorn, this ceratornid will not go down so easy. Though he may not have a noticeable size advantage to his aggressor, his strength and weaponry is a match to his opponent's.
The malleorn rushes to sidestep, jaws agape, aiming for the blue gorn's legs. One solid bite of these bone splintering jaws could easily cripple the giant ceratornid. But as the malleorn flanks, the blue gorn goes in to jab at his leg, but went too low and ends up catching him by the ankle. Seizing the opportunity regardless, the blue gorn pivots in place, dragging the thescelornid stuck to his horns to the left, and throws him against a nearby tree.
The malleorn manages to right himself before he falls prone and scrambles to keep a distance between him and his opponent. His experience tells him to bide his time and find an opening, assessing for any weaknesses, but his hunger overrides all previous sense. He lunges forward again.
The blue gorn does so aswell.
Jaws latched onto horn, the two byrds are at a standoff.
Each one pushing the other, not conceding one another an inch of ground. The malleorn strains, scraping the leaf litter with all his might, the vice like grip of his jaws unrelenting. The blue gorn steadfast in his defense maintains his ground.
A loud snap.
The blue gorn charges ahead but stops in the middle of his steps. The malleorn nearly falls flat on his face, but shakes off the shock. And in his jaws, one half of the blue gorn's right horn, bleeding still from the core.
The malleorn discards the horn and grabs hold of the ceratornid's tail, plucking a mouthful of plumage on the first bite, the blue gorn turns about, but is stopped in his tracks as the malleorn connects his second bite to a more vital area.
Gurgling calls conclude the clash, as the predator wrestles his prey down to the ground, jaws around the blue gorn's throat.
There is hope yet for this malleorn.
Oooh Omegan sanctuary caught my eye before I saw Dimension travel (slajaydick) so please indulge me with information on both!!!
Okiee so Omegan sanctuary is a royalty au with sladick (and some brudick) and it's a bit dark. So in the middle of the capitol there is an Omegan sanctuary - a place where every omega can go to rest, to seek shelter, help or whatever else they need/want. It's a safe, almost sacred, place for all the omegas that no alpha is allowed in.
Bruce is the king and Dick is the queen, his mate. One day Dick gets into a fight with Bruce because he knows Bruce wants to protect him but he's treating Dick as if he would break if anything happened to him. (Im still unsure whether they're Batman and Robin in this but Dick can fight well and that's very important) So Dick flees to the sanctuary because he wants some time alone.
Then at night, their kingdom gets attacked by Defiance. Dick wakes up to screaming and together with other omegas in the sanctuary they barricade the doors and fight off the attackers. He doesn't think about the rest of the kingdom, about Bruce - he will be fine, and Dick needs to make sure all the omegas here are safe. But it doesnt take long before Defiance soldiers break in.
Dick orders everyone to hide and goes to face them alone. He's not stupid so he doesn't even try to fight them, he announces himself as the queen and demands to talk with their commander/king. Alphas are amused but Slade steps forward, telling Dick that his title doesnt mean anything anymore because their king is dead. Dick is heartbroken but tells him that this is Omega-only place and they need to leave, Slade just laughs. So Dick attacks him and they fight and of course Slade wins but Dick managed to make Slade bleed. Slade's impressed because not only Dick was an amazing fighter, he is an omega. So promise to grant the omegas sanctuary back and follow its rules, as long as Dick will become his mate.
And Dick agrees because Bruce is dead (or is heeeee). Slade doesnt force himself on Dick, he's mostly amused by the omega's behavior and waits for him to break. Slade forces them to sleep in one bed so having heats surrounded by the alpha scent is a torture but Dick still doesnt give in!
Then it turns out that Bruce is alive, he was gathering the army to take their kingdom back and they fight Defiance off!
So snippet for this one, unfortunately :((
Dimension travel (slajaydick) is also the one where Dick doesnt have the best time gjajlaah but I really like this idea. So Dick accidentally gets thrown into an alternative universe where Slade has an apprentice, Renegade, but it's not their version of Dick but Jason Todd!
Dick sees Jason on one of the rooftops and even though his uniform looks different than Dick knows, he follows him because maybe this Jason would be able to help him go back to his universe! So Dick gets right into a trap that wasn't even set :3
Snippet:
“Looks like the little bird fell right into our grasp.” Slade purred out. He walked around Dick in a circle, watching him carefully with a satisfied curl of his lips. "Good work, apprentice."
Dick flinched, not able to conceal his reaction. He couldn't help it, even years after he managed to escape from him, something ugly twisted in his stomach hearing those words again.
"I am not your apprentice anymore." He growled.
Slade stopped. With the way he was bound, Dick had to crank his neck to look at him but he saw the way the man stopped mid-step, almost like he was caught off guard. His brow furrowed just barely with confusion.
"You're not…?" He repeated, looking genuinely… surprised.
Then, very slowly, his lips curled into a grin. He looked Dick over again, as if he was seeing him for the very first time and was curious about every little detail, wanted to know everything, his every little twitch and reaction.
"I wasn't talking to you, boy. But that's a very interesting piece of information you gave me." Slade hummed.
He stopped in front of Dick, next to where Jason was still just standing with his back straight and hands clasped behind his back. Slade looked at the younger boy with something Dick didn't want to name.
"Don't touch him!" Dick snarled, struggling against the chains when Slade reached out towards Jason.
Slade ignored him. He cupped the side of Jason's neck with his hand and Jason let it happen without a word of protest.
"Such a good boy." He praised and Jason's eyelids fluttered. "What you brought me is even better than I thought."
"Thank you, Master."
"Leave him alone!" "I don't think you quite understand the situation you're in right now." Slade drawled, voice just as deep as Dick remembered from his nightmares and so pleased it was almost dripping off of his words. "No one knows you're here, little bird. No one will even think to look for you - not Batman, not Robin, because in this world everything is as it should always be." "You're wrong." Dick spat out, fists clenching against the chain. "As soon as they'll find out that I'm in this dimension they'll-" "And that's the thing, isn't it?" Slade interrupted with a mean smile. "They have to find out about it first. They have to notice that you're gone and then start looking for you. Then they'll actually have to find you." He stroked the back of his fingers along Dick's cheek. "And I can promise you, they won't find us easily."
Pick a wip from the list to ask me about!
