favorite thing about them: Sam’s such a genuinely good egg. Calm, level-headed, practical, and a total badass, but also not emotionless. I like that they avoided the Strong Female Character™ trope with her, where being physically and mentally tough means eschewing all feelings and anything that could be considered weakness. She’s as caring and compassionate as she is athletic and adventurous. 

least favorite thing about them: It’s hard to think of anything. Maybe it’s just that: that she doesn’t really have any overt flaws? Not to say that she’s perfect or anything, but everyone else around her is such a bunch of train wrecks that she’s a pretty bright shining light in comparison. :p

favorite line: “You need to go down to the mines…I’ve seen what’s down there, and I’d give anything to unsee it.” The look in her eyes when she says this will haunt me til my dying breath.

brOTP: Her and Hannah of course; I wish we could have seen more of their friendship in the game. She also makes a pretty good butt-kicking team with Mike.

OTP: Sam/Josh. Despite my better judgment sometimes, given some of Josh’s more problematic moments. But I’m a firm believer that suffering from mental illness shouldn’t disqualify a person from love and acceptance. Plus the two of them are clearly close, and I’m a sucker for friends-to-lovers.

nOTP: I don’t think I have one for her.

random headcanon: During trips to the lodge when they were younger, Sam and Hannah used to go out into the woods after storms and look for displaced baby birds in the hopes of rescuing them. It’s part of what started Sam down the path of a conservationism career. 

unpopular opinion: I think Sam might be the only UD character I don’t have an unpopular opinion about. :p

song i associate with them: The aptly named “You Go, Girl” from the soundtrack. Plus Sia’s “Alive,” though to be fair I associate that with all the UD kids except the twins
