Fraser Campbell: How's the new girlfriend?
Duncan Sperring: Leah. Slow. She lives up at Winter House with that community.
Fraser: It's not a community, it's a cult. You wanna stay well away from that.
Duncan: It's Leah I'm interested in. I don't go there, I don't see her.
Fraser: That could be the idea.
Duncan: What do you mean?
Fraser: To get you hooked. You wanna stay well away from anyone who can get inside your head, Duncan. It'll be all too easy with you. Remember the fruit machines?
Duncan: Nah, don't fret, man. Nice people.

Duncan Sperring: I'm her friend. She wouldn't even speak to us.
Lou Gallagher: Try to understand. She's just lost everything. Her home, her aunt, her only family.
Duncan: Yeah, but she hated them all. They left her behind.
Lou: But they were all she knew. And they didn't want her. They only wanted you.
Duncan: So she hates me as well?
Lou: She doesn't hate you. But think about it. You're all that's left to remind her of Winter House. (...) Give her time, Duncan. She'll be alright.
Duncan: I suppose so. Thanks, Lou.
Lou: Duncan. Don't worry. I'll look after her.
