ROSES: receiver gives sender a single rose with a love note ( brick and blossom hehe )
AS A CHILD BLOSSOM ROMANTICIZED THE IDEAS BEHIND LOVE , without knowing much about what a real relationship looked like : what real love identified as or what it meant . she was always the logical , responsible sister , always steering her sisters away from ideas that didn ' t make sense , or things that felt a little too good to be true . but in true contradiction , AT 6 , she watched movies full of princesses and princes living happily ever after , and wanted nothing more than to , someday have that too .
now , it feels like she ' s flown too close to the sun ; she ' s able to see how foolish the concept of dating is , or .. rather how out of reach it is when she is a hero , meant to drop everything to keep townsville safe , at any moment . AN ACHING HEART ; how disappointed her younger self would be to learn that her responsibilities as a hero throw everything else within her personal life off balance . there is a part of her that decided it ' s for the best : a boyfriend would only serve was a distraction or a liability . [ . . . ] but what if he could protect himself ?
there were things simpler than admitting love . blossom would have to swallow her pride , go against everything she ' d ever been taught , what she knows as good and bad .
" are you sure this is for me ? " disbelief bleeds into her voice , pink eyes widen , A COUPLE OF STRAWBERRY MOONS , where fingertips roll the stem of the rose . she stares at it , counts the petals twice before her attention pulls up again . scarlet paints itself over the surface of her cheeks , rushing up to the tips of her ears , and her heart stumbles in her chest , anxious and excited all in the same breath . azalea eyes meet vermillion . it feels like a jokr , some cruel prank ; but . . . she would be able to sense if she was the punch line of some joke . there ' s a prolonged pause where she ' s just staring at the flower , the piece of cardstock scrawled with his name , counting the petals again & again until she can wrap her head around it . the center of the rose presses against the tip of her nose & she sniffs , letting the florals wash away any worry she ' d had prior to this . she needed that , " thank you . . . it's beautiful . i didn 't know you were a romantic " now she gets playful , eyebrow raised his way and lips splitting to let a soft , genuine smile to the surface .
