Brown Women Who Beer | Lagunitas Chicago TapRoom & Beer Sanctuary
I'm not a beer girl, at all, maybe that will change with new experieiences. But I do believe in supporting my friends and family relentlessly! And I'm always down for new experiences. When one of my close college friend invited me out to an event she was having I said I'd be there. You know I kinda just accepted the invite without really even knowing what it was (LOL). I'm always so busy with work that I had an opportunity to hang out and I JUMPED ON IT!
Sharris, the creator of Brown Women Who Beer and organizer of this event, sent out the deets and I made my way on over. When I first got to the Lagunitas Chicago TapRoom & Beer Sanctuary, I really thought I was in the wrong place. It was reminiscent to a horror film and I had just seen Get Out, so I was a little leery and cautious (insert some giggles). However, Lagunitas was nothing of what I expected when I walked in.
From the moment you walk in, the building felt like a fun place to be. This helped with any anxiety that I had about not being a beer drinker.
Some of the ladies were in this great big waiting room already tasting the beer on tap that was being offered and the staff, THE STAFF was so warm, fun and welcoming. Sharris greeted each of us with a button, officially welcoming us to the club.
Once everyone got there, our guided tour got started and I have to say the scientist and historian in me thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Our tour guide, Katie, was the best and gave us all the little known facts about the building and the equipment that I wouldn't have thought to ask. She was interactive and her jokes fit right in with the group of women I was with, we laughed the ENTIRE time.
When the tour is over, a table was reserved for us to eat and drink. This is where I got to really get to know members of Brown Women Who Beer. I love that women can be put in a room and have one thing in common or all know one person that brought them together and in turn find something they have in common with someone else.
I had a really good time and really enjoyed myself. If you are a brown woman, or any woman, who is looking for other women that are interested in beer and tastings, please, please, PLEASE check out Sharris and one of her many passions. I can guarantee that you will leave with new friends and a memorable experience.
