so he picks the most abandoned-looking, inhospitable, monster-infested hellhole imaginable like Ohhhhhh yeah. no one will find me here. this is perfect
and then whaddayaknow . He stumbles into this guy who’s shirtless, singed, muttering to himself, and dragging a 10-ton mech part through the dirt. and jay’s thinking yeah… just my luck to have found the local lunatic. but oops!!!!! turns out this lunatic knows him and he won’t leave him alone. Meanwhile kai’s just like omg jay….. can’t believe we found each other . this is So meant to be. i love you Btw
rogue jay who’s forgotten everything x monstrosity kai who remembers too much…………..rogue jay who rewrites himself from scratch because remembering hurts x monstrosity kai who keeps his identity stitched together with grief and muscle memory……………….. rogue jay who doesn’t believe he’s worth saving x monstrosity kai who believes in it so much he tries to save both of them. STOP. STOP. he rolls up in his little jittery bounty mech with exposed wires and custom plating like “yeah i built it myself no big deal” and then sees kai piloting a whole flaming medieval titan with glowing eyes and lava-lined armor like it’s normal and is like . wat
he 100% tries to play it cool and act like he’s unimpressed. Like who gaf about that stupid knight he doesn’t even care it’s lame anyway
but then spends the next week hyperfixating on its structural integrity
this also made me think about how they defo build mech together too. parallel play style. Mmmmmm. Yes. complete silence except for tools clinking and rogue judging kai’s design choices every few minutes. “don’t build like a coward” “come fix it then” .
