#burning stuff

I didn’t expect the burning pages to be that beautiful, but they were. Of course I have seen fire before. And I thought of fire as beautiful before. But never, ever have I seen this much beauty between a few rocks on the ground.

I tried taking pictures, which... worked but also didn’t. They don’t even capture half the beauty. But I wanted to share them regardless. For all you firebugs out there.

So it started pretty basic. We burnt the stuff... but even then, the books and pages fluttered open while being consumed by the fire and some pages slowly turned black while the writing faded more and more. It was a spectacular sight.

And then later on, there was this (forgive me I don’t really know the english word) glow. And it looked like the pits of hell if hell was a beautiful place. A place dangerous as can be but beautiful none the less.

I stared at it. and it looked like agalaxy, like millions of stars, glimmering, shining, dying or coming to life.  And suddenly I felt very, very small. How could something so dangerous and destructive be so..... so beautiful and warm? In that moment I wanted nothing more than to reach out and touch this strange galaxy. (Thank god I wasn’t actually dumb enough to do that)

Last but not least my favourite picture. I wish I could show you how beautiful it truly was... But well....

So that’s how I fell in love with fire. I sat there and was content. It was peaceful, calm. I hope I never forget how I felt in those two hours.
