𝙂𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 🍔 I always say don’t be too adventurous with burgers unless you’ve got the basics right, and @peccatidigolacamden have definitely done that with how amazing their double cheeseburger was. So I’m in full support for their Mediterranean burger which goes more on the adventurous side. Beef patty, grilled aubergine, grilled courgette, grilled onion, fresh mozzarella, and basil mayo. I thought this burger was very good, it’s not a combo I would have drawn up myself, but all of it just works. The key thing here is that even though the veg is grilled it’s not really sloppy in the burger, they hold their form. The basil mayo is delicious and the mozzarella enhances the freshness. 𝙂𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 🍔 Big fan of the food at @wtf.burger. The @ubereats_uk only plant based burger restaurant have a few locations dotted around London and luckily I have one a mile away in Park Royal. They use @miamiburgeruk for their “beef” and “chicken”, and ima. Big fan! They’re different to patties like Beyond and Moving Mountains, I’d say they’re more similar to Symplicity. Their chicken is also McDonalds chicken nugget-like, so you do get that value chicken burger taste rather than a thigh piece, and when I say value I don’t mean that it’s in any way not nice, but they’re more along the lines of the supermarket breaded chicken burgers rather than a trip to Chick n Sours. They do rely on sauce though, and unfortunately the chicken burger I got (Korean Chick n Seoul) didn’t have the gochujang sauce it was meant to have in it, BUT even sans-sauce I thought the chicken burger was nice! The “beef” burger was the WTF! Bacon Cheeseburger, I really liked the crispy bacon bits in it, they definitely had that Smokey smell and taste. 𝙂𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 🍔 @honestburgers October special has only 10 days left! This month is a collaboration with @chukusldn, the worlds first Nigerian tapas restaurant. It’s a beef patty with Fanta-candied bacon, cheddar, jollof sauce, plantain crisps, Chuku’s spicy mayo, red onion, spinach and pickles. The burger is definitely full of texture with the slight crisp of the plantain and the chewiness of the candied bacon, plus a crunch from the red onion too. The jollof sauce and spicy mayo definitely dominate the taste of this burger, which means I didn’t get any of the Fanta which the bacon had been candied in, and I think a bit more cheese would have helped balance it too. But the sauces were really nice and gives you that slight heatwave throughout. 𝙂𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 🍔 @youngspubs have collaborated with the legend @pritchardswyd to create a vegan burger for January. The vegan chef/skateboarder/Dirty Sanchez’er/YouTuber brings you ‘Pritchards Dirty Vegan’, a spiced chickpea and cauliflower patty, aioli, hot sauce, pickled cucumber, and a mango & coriander salsa. Usually veggie patties can feel quite stuffy and fill you up pretty quickly, but the spices and the hot sauce cuts through to make it go down easier, so much that I could eat 2 in a row 😅. The mango in the salsa gives you a sweet element to tone down the hot sauce but also make sure that veg slides down easier. After favouring a meat-replica vegan burger for the last couple of years and ditching the veggie patties entirely, I think this is the burger that has put them back on the radar for me. 𝙂𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 🍔 @black_bear_burger & @eatlebab came together last week for a 1 day collaboration and honestly it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The menu was made up of 3 collaboration cocktails, a bunch of small plates, then a kebab and burger. This is the Le Bab Bear Burger. 2 dry aged @aubreyallenbutchers beef patties, cheese, meat butter sauce, smoked bacon, tahini & pickle relish. This was a great twist on an already amazing Black Bear burger. The tahini gives this subtle nutty notes as an aftertaste, and the meat butter sauce enhances the beef so well. Man, I wish this pop up was more than 1 day. The small plates were incredible. The brisket hummus was lethally delicious, the pork shawarma spring rolls had a perfect balance of a crispy outside with a melt in your mouth meaty middle. The smoked lamb shoulder mini bab was giving me insecurities about how I slow cook my own lamb as I NEED this recipe. 𝙂𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 🍔 Hearing that @sambryantchef & @alice_wholebeast have become Head of Food at @meatgram is VERY exciting. I had some incredible food from them a few years ago, including an amazing burger, so this can only mean good things for MEATLiquor. I went to a preview night last week for new menu items which may remain, be changed, or be removed. Here’s one new item: Deep Fried Cheeseburger. Beef patty, deep fried cheese patty, bread and hurtle pickles, beef fat burger sauce. Not gonna lie, I was expecting an actual deep fried burger 😅, but it’s the cheese part that brings that element. If you’re looking for a gooey cheesy burger then you’re not gonna get cheesier than this. I do like the crispy deep fried element of it to add that texture. The beef fat burger sauce is beautiful, but it’s also the dominant taste of the burger. It’s got a richness and smokiness to it that works so well with the cheese and beef. There’s really not much more to say than it’s a very cheesy beefy burger, what more could you ask for?
