Celebrate National Burger Day with this classic cheeseburger recipe. It's a crowd-pleaser with juicy beef patties, melted cheese, and all your favorite toppings.
Ingredients: 1 lb ground beef. 4 hamburger buns. 4 slices of American cheese. 1/2 onion, thinly sliced. 4 lettuce leaves. 4 tomato slices. 4 pickle slices. Salt and pepper to taste. Ketchup and mustard for topping.
Instructions: Warm up the grill or griddle on the stove to medium-high heat. Make burger patties out of the four equal parts of ground beef. Add pepper and salt. Put the burger patties on the grill or griddle and cook for four to five minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer if you like them more done. Each patty should have a slice of cheese added to it in the last minute of cooking. Cover to melt the cheese. On the grill, toast the buns for about one minute, or until they get a little brown. Put the burgers together: On the bottom bun, put lettuce. Then, add a burger patty with melted cheese, onion slices, tomato slices, and pickle slices. Feel free to add more ketchup and mustard if you like. Put the other half of the bun on top and serve hot.
