We know from the show that Kenny is the only person in the school Butters really likes. I think part of the reason is because Kenny is the only person that respects Butters and doesn't take advantage of his naivety

Kenny is a protective person, especially with those who are weaker or more vulnerable. Butters is often that person, especially in the dynamic of their friend group

But Kenny always treats Butters with kindness and respect, which Butters really isn't used to (either in his group of friends or at home)

Butters really admires Kenny's strength and optimism, and they really connect about the shyness they both sometimes experience

I think they would also both really connect about their difficult home lives

Kenny thinks Butters is the sweetest person in the world, and he appreciates Butters' innocence (especially since Kenny lost his innocence at a young age!)

They're that one couple that's extremely thoughtful of each other. Butters will go out of his way to help Kenny whenever he can

That may mean that Butters is buying Kenny gifts or even helping him with money issues when Kenny is struggling

Kenny will work hard to earn even a little bit of money to buy a gift for Butters, and of course Butters knows that Kenny struggles with money so he's always so humble and grateful for it

Kenny would really enjoy showing and teaching things to Butters that Butters is too innocent to know about, and at the same time, Butters brings that sweet purity and gentleness to Kenny's life that Kenny may not have even realized was missing

Butters' parents would really hate Kenny, unfortunately. They think Kenny is a terrible influence, and blame him for the behaviors they don't like in Butters as he gets older

Kenny's parents would like Butters well enough, but would probably be fairly rude to him because they think he's stupid :(

If Butters ever wanted to experiment with his gender expression or wanted to dress like Marjorine, Kenny would be incredibly supportive and find it adorable
