29. Her ancestors sometimes come and peer out of the windows of her eyes. (Blake's 7, Cally) @bunn1cula
Sometimes Cally wondered what her people would think of her, if they could see her now. There had been no time on Saurian Major to mourn for what she had left behind, for the home she had turned her back on, the family, the history—and then when there was time to mourn for her own losses, she was too consumed with rage. She had been unable to join her fellow fighters in death, so she would find companions to die with her.
And so she had, though not precisely in the way she had expected.
She liked Avon the most of her new crewmates; she believed in Blake and she trusted them all to have her back in a crisis, but Avon was the one she simply liked. He was the same as her—an outsider among his own people, as she had been among hers. She could not exactly say that she confided in Avon, but they talked, sometimes, as they were working on the engines or the communications systems.
And he listened. Even when he was making a show of ignoring her, Cally knew he was hearing every word she said. Cataloging information for his own purposes, to use later. He didn’t entirely trust her, she knew, because she was an alien, but then, he didn’t trust anyone else on the ship, human or otherwise, so she didn’t take that lack personally. It wasn’t important. He listened.
“I wonder, sometimes, what my twin and my other sisters would think of my life now.”
Avon didn’t look up from the diagnostic read-outs. “Does it matter?”
“I suppose not. It’s not as though I can go back to Auron and ask them.” Cally passed him the laser probe in response to his unspoken request; they had fallen very quickly into an understanding of one another’s body language. It wasn’t mind-reading, but it was good to be able to communicate with Avon without the need for speaking aloud. Bodies were less imperfect than words. “And after all, they would hardly understand. ”
“That is the nature of families. And of isolationist societies.” He reached over her arm for another tool; his presence in her space was like a physical impact, but for all that, not offensive. He never overstayed his welcome, and she was careful to always do the same. He met her eyes briefly as he drew back. He frowned as he studied her, and Cally wondered what it was that he was looking for, or seeing. “There’s no context, among such people, for what it’s like to be an alien among aliens.”
“No,” Cally agreed.
Avon was right, of course. He frequently was (although not nearly as often as he thought he was). Even if she had been able to communicate with her people across such vast distances, either via the ship or her own telepathic powers, who could she have spoken to? And what could she have said?
She lay in her cabin during her assigned rest periods and wondered, debated, longed for home, if only for the chance to state her case before the elders again as to why she should be allowed back, why Auron should not stand idly by. When she slept, or even sometimes when she was awake, visions came to her of her parents (who raised her) and her foremothers (from whom she had been cloned over countless generations. And they asked her, What are you fighting for? Why?
Cally always had the same answer for them. But she never quite remembered it, when she was alone.
Sun and Heir, please!
born of a really convoluted prompt on FFA i don’t quite remember (something like “italian contessa pegging the scion of noble family”), i was partway through writing it when my laptop broke and i couldn’t type properly, and that kind of killed it, because by the time i could write easily again the prompt was long gone and the concept seemed odd enough to requite justification. A snippet:
“Del Tarrant, I assume?”
The boy seems surprised by her approach, but not as surprised as you'd expect. “Supreme Commander,” he says, and bows to her, slightly. The FSA trained him well, didn't they? “To what do I owe the pleasure?”
She grins at him. “This is your party. What sort of guest would I be if I didn't at least share a word?”
He grins in turn. Oh. It's not hard to see why his mother is so proud of him. Servalan has never met the other brother, but she has met the eldest, a decade senior to the other two, raised in the foster homes while his parents were posted at the outer edge of the galaxy – and it shows. Dev Tarrant is a very good security agent, but he wouldn't win any contests based on looks or charm – which it seems his little brother has in abundance.
“I have to give my parents credit,” says Del, “they did not skimp on the guest list.”
“Oh, I'm sure your parents would do anything for you.” She casts a glance to the man behind the bar, an elderly sort with a thick moustache, he can't have to do this very often – there aren't many families left on Earth who can afford to have their get-togethers specially catered. “You know, an officer and a gentleman would offer to buy me a drink.”
“I believe the drinks are free,” he chuckles, but indeed her makes a gesture to the bartender, passing her a glass of amber dark without inquiring what she might want. Chivalrous, but arrogant. Good.
She drinks it. It tastes fine enough. “I admit, I'm not sure what I did to inspire this interest,” says the boy. It's a joke, but the uncertainty in it is real enough.
“Does there need to be a reason?” she raises her brows above the rim of her glass, then sighs. “I'm afraid I find this social occasions rather dull. Indeed, now I've put in my requisite appearance I might head back to my apartments soon.”
“Oh?” He sounds disappointed. She has him on a string, in thrall to youthful hormones that not even their most talented of biologists have managed to eliminate.
“You could come visit me, if you like,” she says with a dismissive wave of the hand. “I don't live very far from here.”
He blinks. Luckily, he is either pretty or vain enough that older women making advances toward him does not strike him as suspicious. “If you would like.”
“Oh, I would like.”

Thank you!!!
- Have you ever been out of your home country?
No :(
- Favourite weather?
Mid autumn! When the leaves firstly turned their colours. I like chilling mood generally.
- What do you hope to do in the next 10 years?
- Becoming rich and moving to somewhere less populated, no kidding. (lol) - (Seriously I still had hopes for me to get something about biology achieved academically, even my subject was mainly about... ugh, statistics . But I have this long term project issues so I don't give it too much of thought.) More achievable goal is learning more about Jazz and modern classical music theories (I'm saving money to get a new Korg first). And becoming a better artist at CG painting, I guess.
WHO DID THIS? WHO IS RESPONSIBLE

I was at work and there was tv filming going on, which I discovered was for two productions: “Orac” and “Orac 2”.
Obviously I totally lost my shit and had to run down the director, (who was actually a special fx guy that my doctor boss is friends with.) I explained that I knew what Orac was and that he obviously wanted the very spot I work in to stand in for the Liberator flight deck.
I wheedled and cajoled and begged (two more people then joined me in this chorus) to let me watch on set and I guess, work there. I think he said yes.
They cleared out, and then I was alone at the back of an empty giant freighter ship far out at sea. I sat on the deck as far astern as I could and thought about my good luck. The deck was a dangerous place to be, but I stayed there.
Just...Blakes 7. It may have taken me 40 years to find and be utterly taken with this show, but by golly--late is better than never. So...got any fic recs?
HELL YEA HELL YEA WELCOME TO THE CLUB (i say, a literal baby compared to some of the elders)
As for recs, that’s kinda hard? I mean, I’m really, really into Avon/Vila so I just went to AO3 and read everything under the tag. It was awesome.
Jaelijn and Van have some AMAZING stuff so that’s a good place to start I think? This fandom has some serious history, and there’s lots that’s simply elsewhere - so in this respect I think what I can rec is seriously limited since I’m simply so new in terms of being active in the fandom.
I originally discovered B7 while reading for my thesis back in late 2016, but didn’t watch the whole thing until recently! So yeah, very new, still hunting for source and fan content alike.
So what I ended up having is the show itself (now gif requests, that I can do) and mostly academic stuff, such as Pugh’s Democratic Genre and Muir’s History and Critical Analysis - lotsa stuff locked under DRM but if you’re interested I can try and get these for you?
@ B7 frens if you have recs yourselves now’s the time to drop some
