Majima, even more gently, insists that she take it. She tries to stare him down. “Look, we don’t gotta be friends, kid, but you should take this. Yer too young t’ be actin’ so tough like nothin’ can get to ya. Believe me, I know.” Her fists unclench at her sides. He continues. “It’s okay t’ be brave—“ he places Bun-chan in her hands—“and it’s okay t’ be scared, too.” She carefully accepts the gift. He nods. “So hang on to this little guy, yeah?” Her chin quivers and she hugs Bun-chan tightly. “Thank you, Majima-san.”
