This interdisciplinary degree programme is a combination of building complexes and structural technology, as well as how they are integrated. You will be provided with subject-specific knowledge of energy consumption and energy storage in buildings. The aim is, through improved digital communication, previously individual systems will be integrated into a complete smart system. Examples of this would be, for instance, creating a successful energy management system which both deals with load-dependent energy prices as well as reducing demand on the national grid at peak times, through an enhanced complete system (house + eCar + energy providers). As a student of this programme, you should be technology-orientated, able to think across a range of associated disciplines, and able to work academically. With the acquired knowledge and the graduation nothing stands in the way of a further graduation. The program closes the interfaces between the building technology and its intelligent networking. Learn about basic smart building blocks that enable a building to be responsive to the ways it’s being used. Current, by GE, is the digital engine for intelligent environments like smart cities and smart buildings. The world is proliferating with sensors and devices, and cloud and internet connected systems that are leveraging this data to provide increasingly sophisticated views of the world. The processes of design and construction are producing structured models and associated data as a byproduct of project delivery data that can be repurposed for, or “designed into,” the physical environment. This research asks how embedded intelligence will impact building systems design, construction, and operations.
