Bukit Kiara Trails: Detailed Guide for Kuala Lumpur Hikers
I have been to Bukit Kiara nearly every day for the last week. 🥾🥾🥾
Some might wonder why the sudden frenzy about it 🤔. Not really; I have been focused on mapping out the common trails in Bukit Kiara.
I finally completed my goal before the Chinese New Year by publishing a comprehensive guide to the Bukit Kiara trails 📖, as well as producing a video 🎥.
Although I have visited many times, I now realize that there is so much more to see than I initially thought 🌄, and I've missed many places in the past.
This time, I approached my visits with a purpose, ensuring that I recorded the GPS coordinates of various locations 📍. I also hiked most of the trails to understand the interconnections better 🗺️.
One key takeaway for me is the importance of having a hiking app 📱. Without the app (I use Komoot), it would have been nearly impossible to navigate the trails.
I use this hiking guide to wish you a very healthy and prosperous New Year 🎊🧧.
Now, it's time to get ready for the reunion dinner tomorrow! 🍲🥢✨

Sven Saw Contribution to TRAKS
Tools of the trade, but most notable the 21″ Sven Saw!
A big shout out to Sven Saw for their contribution to the Trails Association of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor (TRAKS)! After years of use and abuse, and numerous gifts of these tools by your committee to trail fairies, we received two complimentary saws from Sven. Thanks Jon and team!
If you are ever in need of a great tool for doing work on our trails, you can find them here: Sven Saw
Alternatively, you can buy them at REI where the two companies have had a long history together. You can find the great read here: REI/ Sven History
Again, many thanks to Sven for their contribution to our work in Malaysia.
Kind regards,
Your TRAKS Committee
#throwback Among many useful advice I received from Ticer Ina @tfacentre , is the concept of "less is more". When using this concept in nature, kids will interact more with the available resources around them. They will play with sticks, sand, rocks, water, leaves, and be able to observe water striders, little fishes and dragonflies, among many others. When it is just between me & my preschooler (with no other kids), we rarely bring toys to the nature. We only bring toys if there are planned playdates with other kids and if we know that they will bring their toys. You know kids, when they see other kids are playing toys, they suddenly become highly interested, and that would be very challenging for the parents of strong-will kids 😂 The concept of "less is more" doesn't just apply to nature, but at home too. We always thought we need to buy lots of toys for kids so that they will not become bored, but less do we know that their boredom is the starting point of creativity. Just today, I received a "beautiful necklace" made of USB cable with its ends fit in their original plastic casing. 😅 Kids are naturally creative. Let them explore. Let them play. Because playing is learning ♥ P/S: 2 of the pictures attached were taken by our new-found hiking friend, Kheng. Now, I don't just have mommy friends, but also hiking friends! 😁 P/PS: Now that our preschooler knows about the forest stream, I guess we need to hike somewhere else for our next hiking plan. The moment we talk about Bukit Kiara now, he insists to go to the forest stream. Hiking plan cancelled 😂 #SimpleMomJourney #aydeenexplores #BukitKiara #1000hoursoutside #letthemexplore #outdoorchildhood #raiseawildchild #runwild #littleexplorer (at Bukit Kiara hill walk) https://www.instagram.com/p/CVszVJ5vA_u/?utm_medium=tumblr

#throwback it's not easy for kids to hike after rain. You need to give 100% attention at steep areas. But, believe me, this will be one of their favourite things during the hike. Where else can you play with a lot of mud? 😆 P/S: When I asked him what he loved the most that day (I always ask him this every night before sleep), he said he likes the "muddy forest" 😂 #SimpleMomJourney #AydeenHikes #BukitKiara #hill #forest #1000hoursoutside #letthemexplore #outdoorchildhood #raiseawildchild #runwild #littleexplorer (at Bukit Kiara hill walk) https://www.instagram.com/p/CVh1buYpOgu/?utm_medium=tumblr
#throwback Aydeen's favourite hike at the moment, at Bukit Kiara. 🗻 Balik hike tak tidur, sibuk main. Malam baru tidur. Dia punya penat tu sampai terlepas nak join playdate dengan @luthmateenn esok paginya 😂 #SimpleMomJourney #AydeenHikes #BukitKiara #hill #forest #1000hoursoutside #letthemexplore #outdoorchildhood #raiseawildchild #runwild #littleexplorer (at Bukit Kiara hill walk) https://www.instagram.com/p/CVhrEBkpccu/?utm_medium=tumblr
Parks & Rec P's & Q's - An Interview with TRAKS’ President
All hail Megat, TRAKS' President! But thanks as well to Juliet Jacobs and BFM Radio - The Business Station for inviting him to speak. We have often said that awareness drives change, and by politely reminding people via the radio, social media, news papers and more is an oblique method. Having seen similar things effect change in Malaysia over the past three decades, we are ecstatic to see the same approach being applied to our parks like Kiara.
