The Chinese Car Manufacturer "Build Your Dreams (BYD) Auto Company, Limited" sold the most number of Vehicles in the first four Months of this Year of 2025 in Singapore, selling over 3,000 Cars which consist 20% of the overall Market in that Country.

The Japanese Car Manufacturer "Toyota Motor Corporation" came in second with over 2,000 units Sold while the United States (US) Company "Tesla Incorporated" came in a far third with only 535 unit sold.

Just last Year of 2024, Toyota was well ahead of BYD with over 7,000 units sold in Singapore compared to only over 6,000 by BYD. BYD only officially entered the Singapore Market in 2022, or just three Years ago and they are already topping it.

Note also that Tesla entered the Singapore Market a Year ahead of BYD in 2021, and yet BYD has now surpassed them and Toyota to be Number One.

MY THOUGHTS: The overall Number of Cars sold in Singapore may not seem much, especially when compared to most of the other Countries in South East Asia (SEA), but remember that Vehicle Ownership in Singapore is highly regulated because of the limited Space they have there, and is VERY expensive.

A BYD Atto 3 Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) here in the Philippines costs around Php 2.5 million as of this writing, but in Singapore it is around Php 7 million, or almost three times more expensive.

Because of the high Cost and strict Registration Process, you could say that Singaporeans tend to be more selective of the Vehicles they buy, and yet they went with BYD which is new to their Market rather than the long established Toyota Brand, or the more famous Tesla Brand.

That alone should speak highly about the Quality of the BYD Vehicles from China. The Philippines was in the running to host a BYD Manufacturing Plant several Years ago, but that was before Bong Bong Marcos (BBM) showed his True Colors of being Anti-China and Pro-US.

As expected based on earlier reports, the new Han L Sedan Electric Vehicle (EV) and Tang L Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) EV of the Chinese Company "Build Your Dreams (BYD)" finally went on Sale recently in China. These Models use BYD's latest "Super e-Platform" Technology which allows them to be charged with around 370 to 400 km range on just a five minute Charge.

The Price for the Han L Sedan starts at Cny 219,000, which is around Php 1.7 million assuming an Exchange Rate of Php 7.85 per Chinese Yuan. The Tang L SUV on the other hand has a starting Price of around Php 1.9 million.

MY NOTES: No reports yet on when these would be available for export, naturally BYD is prioritizing the Chinese Market first before selling it abroad. It will probably take at least six Months before they start exporting these, and once they do, expect the Price to increase, probably around up to double if it reaches the Philippines.

These Vehicles are very important because they are proven to be successful, then I think we can expect a major Shift in Automobile Technology within the next Decade. BYD's "Super e-Platform" of course uses Proprietary Batteries and Chargers, but if they license it out to other Companies, or other Companies come up with similar Technologies, then we will see the Car Industry truly become "Electric".

The Chinese Company "Build Your Dreams (BYD)" just released into Production their new "Super e-Platform" which can charge an Electric Vehicle (EV) with a Range of up to 400 km in just five minutes. In line with this, BYD is releasing two new Models which will be using this Technology next Month of April 2025, the "Han L" and the "Tang L".

The Han L will be able to charge 400 km of Range in just five minutes while the Tang L will be able to charge 370 km of range in the same amount of time. Prices start at Cny 270,000 in China, which is around Php 2.1 million.

BYD plans to 4,000 of the Megawatt Flash Chargers all over China in the next couple of Years.

MY NOTES: So the Technology for EVs to charged as fast as Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) can be refueled is now here, it now is just a question of it being adopted by everyone. If all goes well and there are no serious Issues or Trade Offs with this new Technology, then we will see a massive decline in ICEs in the next Decade and the continued rise of EVs, and China is leading the Way.

The Philippines is being left behind in overall EV Technology even in South East Asia (SEA) only as most of them have wholeheartedly embraced Chinese EV Technology, except the Philippines which still insists on siding with the United States (US) and antagonizing China.

Note that the Php 2.1 million Price for the new BYD Car Models is VERY reasonable as these are Top of the Line and Cutting Edge in Technology. But this Price I think is only good in China, if exported it will likely cost a lot more, probably around twice as much.
