Why don’t more people talk about how Henriel would probably be dysfunctional at least a little bit like. First we have the fact that those are Victorian men with internalized homophobia and probably more. Second I do not think Utterson is handling all that. Jekyll is hiding so much of himself from everything that there is no way that being open will immediately go well. They both most likely harbor some resentment for each other as well because there is no fucking way they’ve ever had this thing called communicating with one another

I want Jekyll to be forced into recovery actually. I want him to have to suffer through not taking his serum and the possible withdrawals, and try to get himself clean. I want him to have to have to slowly come to accept the worst parts of himself and learn to live with them without pushing them off onto a separate made up identity. I want him to be happy so fucking bad but it requires effort and hardship he doesn’t put in or isn’t in the right environment for

I find the fact that Jekyll is constantly fucking suffering kind of funny. Like. He hates himself and how he has to live. So he creates Hyde. Which IS BASICALLY JUST RINSE AND REPEAT. He gets a false sense of freedom , now while he is “free” he’s also terrified and stressed out. Nothing changes he’s just suffering in a different font

As a fandom, I believe we should make Jekyll more of a prick. Sure, hes nice to Utterson but that’s where his genuine intent ends. I mean, look at the way he talks abt Lanyon and the fact that he considers himself at least a bit superior to him. He compares how good he is to the good of others. While sure, he really RRREALLY fucking hates himself he does NOT think too kindly of other people. Both as a way to compensate for his negative view on his own self, and also. Out of normal annoyance. Probably thinks about others slightly as a reason for him having to hide (no pun) himself when he’s not thinking about horrible he must be, for being made with urges so wrong! I do think he might have people pleasing tendencies or be overly nice to people around him but he’s still his good ol hateful self

IF I’m allowed to be slightly mean. I don’t get how people think Jekyll is canonically skinny. Cmonn the book calls him large and well build and with a heavy plus creaking threaddddd. He’s a rich Victorian man with servants who does nothing but throw his dinner parties and play around with his magic coke . i feel like it’s not that big of a surprise
