i think the funniest way spuffsilla could happen is in post-canon, spuffy is together, and drusilla just like. shows up on their doorstep. and they take her in bc she promises to be good and not kill or terrorize anyone and idk maybe she’s hurt or something too.
and buffy’s in the weirdest limbo of her life. she knows that spike loves her more than anything in the world. but he’s also falling into old habits with dru and so a part of buffy is like “fuck, is he regressing? are we done?”
and spike knows buffy’s not comfortable and is trying to make it better. but he can’t not take care of dru, it’s what he did for a century. so he’s just floundering about trying to make everyone happy.
meanwhile, dru is delighted to be hanging out with william and his sunshine. they’re like a family! she’s not quite sure why the slayer won’t cuddle with her or why she still treats her like a threat, or why her william acts like he’s expecting everything to crash down, but she figures they’re both just being silly and makes herself at home anyway.
then one night spike is called away and dru takes her chance to strike. when he comes back, dru is fully on buffy’s lap, arms wrapped around her, purring loud enough to wake the neighbors. smiling big and sweet like the cat who got the canary. and buffy is absolutely covered in red lipstick stains and hickeys.
later on spike asks buffy what the hell happened and she has to be like “from the bottom of my heart idk. but i think there’s three of us in this relationship now.”
Drusilla: I would like to coax the Slayer into bed with with us
Spike: She's got some terrible issues. be like getting a stray cat to trust us

Buffy tries to explain but it sounds WAY too much like the divorce talks her parents gave her so she just bails and let’s it be 100% Spike problem. But Dru keeps giving her sad puppy eyes for ages after and trying to coax her back and Buffy is just in “stop making me feel like my shitty dad” hell.

was thinking about drusilla/buffy and then it hit me... imagine an au where dru falls in love with buffy too (i maintain she would have if she hadn't already seen in her visions that she was meant for spike) and then darla comes back on the scene to find that her entire goddamn polycule fell in love with the same woman and that woman is the goddamn slayer!!! the crashout would be so valid

i'm going to be so unhinged in response to this i'm sorry
dru knows that buffy is the only other person this century who's bothered to get to know spike, and she wants so badly to be near some form of him. so she shows up in buffy's life and just, like, refuses to leave.
at first buffy just keeps her around to keep an eye on her, but soon they're sharing spike stories and it feels like with every story, dru inches a little closer. talks a little sweeter. gets a little more affectionate. buffy tries to ignore it.
but then buffy gets choked up talking about spike's last moments and dru leans in and licks the tears right off her cheeks. and when she's done, she presses her cheek against buffy's and just lingers there, soft against buffy's skin.
the sex just kinda... happens after that.
and then spike comes back.
buffy feels awful about "moving on" so fast, not to mention doing it with an evil, soulless and chipless vampire. AND spike's ex?? she's terrible. awful. so she distances herself from both of them and tries to forget about the whole thing.
dru is practically inconsolable. she tastes the sunshine and then the sunshine just leaves? no fair. and spike just wants both of his ladies to be happy.
so spike tracks buffy down again, dru in tow, and tells her, well...if she only slept with dru bc they both missed him, shouldn't he have the right to see it? to feel how much they grieved him?
it probs takes more than just one conversation to bring them all together again, but it's step one.
besides, dru knows that she'll be surrounded by the starry skies and the daylight, her knight and their warrior princess, soon enough. the pixies told her.
