Hello I'm Celia! I like books, anime, and music etc. This is a fanfic writing account. I'm genderfluid, pansexual, and polyamorous. I also have two lovely partners!
Their relationship would be a mix of calmness and liveliness due to their contrasting personalities, which blend perfectly into their relationship.
While most of the gods may have been spooked by her presence, Buddha may have regarded it as an opportunity to understand more about the Primordial goddess, caution taken.
Research and consultation from other gods, who either expressed their stunned disregard or hate for her with remarks such as âSheâs bad news.â, âSo rough.â, âNo need to mind yourself with the likes of her.â and so-so, only fueled his curiosity.
[Name] found his instance to get to know her more distracting and overly intrusive, often ignoring him or demanding that he leaves her be, but his irresistible charm and humour soon smoothened her edge.
Soon enough, small, hasty and argumentative interactions turned into zestful conversations and instead of tension, there was an air of calm.
Soon enough, their relationship developed into something precious.
Buddha found himself shifting closer to [Name] instinctively whenever they were talking to one another, inhaling her perfume with her sigh and pondering over the lush of her lips.
[Name] found herself leaning into his warmth, resisting the temptation to gaze into his eyes for a moment more.
One night, aged books and notes of shared intellect on the ground below them, the cold pushed them past the bounds of resistance. A nod from [Name] and a flustered grin on Buddhaâs face, deep amour was expressed.
The first individual to notice the closer touches and jest was none other than Brunhilde, who often looked up to her mother and sought her approval, reflecting the wisdom sheâs gained from her through actions.
Her mother had never been overly affectionate towards other gods. Even though she was close to Hades and Aphrodite, a formality was maintained, as expected.
So, to see her sitting close to Buddha, letting his hand rest on her thigh while she read text out of a scroll they were both looking at, left her a bit stunned for a moment as the lovers shared smiles.
What confirmed it, however, was the missing ring on his finger which made home on her motherâs.
Goll found herself a bit puzzled when her mother began interacting more with Buddha, cheerfully talking to him as they walked beside one another. Moreover, she wasnât as formal as expected, with her laying her head on Buddhaâs shoulder to whisper with a giggle.
Her confirmation was made when she stumbled upon them about to kiss. She tried to hide, but it was futile when [Name] called her closer.
Safe to say, everyone was stunned when they found out. They were the highlight of the season, the topic of gossip and whispers uttered. Whenever they were seen together, gods would look at them, curious of how their pairing came to be. The valkyries, although surprised, did express their approval when [Name] officially announced it, slightly flustering and squeezing Buddhaâs hand when Thurd began teasing her.
Gods did also express their disapproval of the relationship, due to the nature they believed [Name] to harbour, and Buddhaâs status as a former human being.
They were scrutinised and viewed as a controversial couple, with Odin furthening the tension with idle remarks, which could have led to a huge fight if if it werenât for Buddhaâs interjection and the Valkyrieâs assistance. Buddha comforted her afterwards, soothing her worries and doubt. He desired to present to [Name] that despite their differences in maturity, she could always rely on him and break down her walls to allow him in.
Despite all that their relationship may face, they remain the ever-loving couple towards one another.
Okita
âI was told that your capabilities were outstanding.â âHave I exceeded your expectations?â
Okitaâs relationship with [Name] can be described as passionate. Both individuals share a commonality with the battlefield, managing feats unlike any other.
They train together; constantly as practice and relief. Their discussions throughout this battle can vary from teasing to random parts of their day. It has become a way of relaxing and watching the other increase their resilience and capabilities.
As their weapons meet, they smile at one another. âMy dear, shouldnât you admit that youâve been bested?â [Name] floats backwards from the dust that was to meet her eyes, giggling as Okita raced towards her. His eyes glow with power, and his hands tightly clutch onto his sword.
âSo arrogant. How do you know thatâŠâ Behind her, she feels the graze of a sword against her clothes. âwas not what I wanted you to do.â
âImpressive.â The woman states, peeking at him with a gentle smile, and dropping her weapon. She turns to his direction, aware of the sword that pokes her chest. âDirection of the heart." Your call.â
As the mother of the Valkyries, [Name] has taught Okita much about certain aspects of battle, and he has shown her his signature moves.
They grew close as Okita healed from his injuries after the battle with Susano'o. Mere checkups on those who survived the rounds with gods, which included his, turned into longer conversations and understanding of one another.
It wasnât too much of a surprise to the Valkyries when [Name] confirmed their relationship after Skalmöld indirectly questioned their closeness after some gossip with her sisters.
Bets were handed out, and they expressed their support. Despite the newness of their pairing, humans did prove to be worthy of their might, and received respect among them.
The gods, however, clutched onto it as a reason to spite the Valkyriesâ mother more. âNot only does she make the Valkyrie sisters assist the humans, but sheâs pursued a relationship with one. Sheâs mad!â
Odin hatred for [Name] increased once his crows informed him of the relationship, feathers slightly ruffled and charred from the blast [Name] threw towards them while they spied on the couple.
The evidently passionate kiss she dragged Okita into by his haori was purely to showcase just how much she adored him and to spite them before firing at them.
The knowing smirk Okita throws her, looking out the window while the crowsâ cries lessen with each second, causes one to appear on hers as he pulls her closer for more.
I wonder if...Buddhita and Enjin would be friends?? đ€
I would love to see interactions between Buddha and Enjin, but especially TAMSY... also between the characters from my two favorite anime series đ€đ
I hope you enjoy it~ I was stuck for about a week, I was at around 2500 words, and I really wanted to get to at least 3000. Then I started writing again this morning and ended up with 5300.
The next day begins pretty normally. Shiva has another meeting and tries to get you to join him. Nope. The bed is too comfortable, and you really donât want to get up. Itâs kind of ironic since youâve been waking up at dawn almost every day since you arrived. But youâre not going to complain. Sleeping in is one of your favorite things about not having anything scheduled before noon.Â
And that thought is how you jinxed yourself.
A distinct knock on the door wakes you, the same unhurried rhythm he always uses, just as you're drifting back to sleep. The sound jolts you upright so abruptly your palms slap against the mattress to steady yourself. For a second, your heart pounds, eyes wide in the dim light. Then you narrow your eyes at the door.
Wearing only a light blue T-shirt that reaches your upper thighs and underwear, you stumble to the door. âI swear to GodâSiddhartha. I just fell back asleep.â
You open the door. His eye scans you for just a second before gently pushing you back into the room. He follows, closing the door behind him. âDo you always open the door like that?â He nods at your clothes, or rather, the lack of them on your legs.
âBuddha, I knew it was you.â
He sighs. Maybe, but the first time you answered like that, you didn't know it was him. Then again, the shirt was longer.
âWhat are you doing here?â
âI need to speak to you about your father.â Buddha nods towards the fact that youâre in Shivaâs room. âPreferably at my home.â
You turn your back to him and head toward the closet for a shirt and shorts. âI spoke to him yesterday. The only thing I got from him is that my mom is human and I look like herâhe also pointed out that biological mother is the correct term to refer to her since she didnât raise me. Kind of weird, but I guess itâs true.â
As you speak, you pull your shirt over your head, grab a bra, fasten it, and slip into your clothes. Itâs quick and practical, but youâre aware of him behind you in a way you arenât with Shiva.
When you turn back to face Buddha, heâs staring at you.
Not amused. Not flustered.
Just watching.
His eye traces over you onceâchecking, assessingâbefore settling on your face, something tense lingering there that wasnât before.
âAre you okay?â
He blinks as if pulled from somewhere else. The tension quickly dissipates, replaced by a broad grin revealing all four sharp teeth.
âOf course I am, honeybee.â He steps back, now casualâalmost too casual. âLetâs go home. I learned something interesting about your father.â
Homeâhis home.
His pace is faster than usual, and he doesnât slow down when your eyes wander over the garden or the rooms youâve barely had time to explore. Youâre not even sure if he notices. His grip on your left hand is not painful, but itâs firmâfingers intertwined with yours in a way that feels more grounding than affectionate. He doesnât seem like he plans to let go anytime soon.
When you step into his bedroom, you stop short.
Books are scattered across the bedâat least twenty of them. Many seem ancient, with cracked spines, yellowed pages, and delicate edges. Some are open, while others are piled unevenly. More are tossed across the floor, as if he stopped caring where they landed.
âBuddha, whatâsâŠâ You gesture helplessly at the chaos. âAll this?â
He releases your hand only to drag one of the older books closer. âI spoke to Vaeris,â he says evenly. âHe claims he existed before time.â A pause. âAnd that he exists outside the cycle.â
You blink. âThe cycle?â
âThe cycle,â he nods. âBirth. Death. Rebirth. Cause and effect. Every being is bound to it. Even gods.âBuddhaâs gaze drifts to one of the open books before returning to you. Thereâs something unsettled there. âIf heâs telling the truthâŠâ His jaw tightens slightly.
You shake your head. âThen thereâs no way heâs telling the truth, right? So I just need to figure out where Dad is fromââ
âIâm not so sure, _____.â
âHuh?â
âI was looking for information in a library, and an older god had heard the name before.â Buddha begins stacking the books. âHe has no face to the name, and by the next morning, Vaeris had been erased from his fatherâs mind. He said it felt unsettling.â
You raise a brow, âOkay, so if he is correct, what time period was it? Maybe we could start by seeing if Vaeris was a name used then? We could get a location.â The information you had done on your fatherâs name prior came up empty.
Buddha glances at you from the corner of his eye. âSit down.â
The shift in his tone throws you off. You move a few books aside and sit on the edge of the bed, looking up at him.
The way heâs staring at you now is almost unsettling. No teasing grin. No warmth softening the sharpness of his features. Just focusâintense and calculating. Itâs similar to the expression heâs given other gods. The one that makes him seem nearly frightening.
He must see it register on your face.
Before the discomfort has a chance to settle, he drops the books beside you to the floor and sits close. His hand lifts gently, fingers brushing your jaw as he leans in and presses his forehead to yours.
The tension in his expression melts instantly. He kisses your cheek.
âHoneybee,â he says softly, deliberately softening the tone of his voice, âlet me tell you what Iâve found.â
He pulls back just enough to look at you properly. âEvery human leaves a record,â he says, tone calm again but still serious. âNot a biography. Just a first imprint. The moment they enter the cycleâbirth, death, something. Thereâs always a beginning point.â
You tilt your head slightly. âOkayâŠâ
âI checked the registry,â he continues. âThereâs no origin entry for Vaeris. Not in any human record.â
You frown, âSo heâs not human.â I guess that makes sense based on what weâve learned so far.Â
A quiet pause lingers between you before he adds, almost casually, âSo I looked into gods.â
You straighten slightly. Does that mean he found something? You search his face for itâlooking for the answer, the reveal. If he knows who your father is, then maybe you can start narrowing things down. Maybe you could even start investigating your mother from thereâ
âThereâs no divine registry either,â he says, watching you carefully. âNo pantheon record. No entry point. Nothing that indicates when he came into existence.â
You blink at him. âThat doesnât make sense.â
âNo,â Buddha agrees evenly. He drags a hand down his face. âIâve spoken to gods whoâve talked to him. Or even just passed him in the hall. They forget who he is within twenty minutes.â
You shake your head. âWhat? That doesnât make sense. You remember him. Shiva remembers him. And growing up, he went to school meetings. My teachers knew him. They never forgot himââ
A faint smile touches his mouth. âI imagine that would be inconvenient.â
You furrow your brow. âInconvenient?â
He looks at you more directly now. âIf I had a daughter, I wouldnât want her teachers forgetting who I was every time they saw me.â
Right, I guess that makes sense. You glance off to the side, trying to untangle everything heâs saying. âCould he be, likeâŠa god of time or something?â You shrug, the thought slipping away as quickly as it forms. âI donât know. I hate this. Why did he have to come back?â You let out a frustrated groan. âEverything was easier a few weeks ago. Then suddenly there was Ragnarok. Dad coming back. You.â
âMe?â
You exhale sharply. âYeah, you. You werenât exactly part of my quiet, uncomplicated life plan.â
A faint curve touches his mouth. âYet the god of destruction was?â
âShivaâs my best friendâwait, stop, I get distracted too easily. So, could he be a god of time?â
Buddha shakes his head. âI donât think so.â
âWhy not? If he messes with memories, time seems close enough.â
âA god of time would still be recorded,â he replies calmly. âThey would still belong to a pantheon. They would still have a point of origin. Even gods of time are bound to the cycle in some way.â
You frown. âSo youâre saying heâs not human. Not a god. NotâŠanything?â
âIâm saying,â Buddha says gently, âthat whatever he is, he doesnât follow the same rules.â
You lean back slightly, processing that. âOkay, wellââ you lift your hands, gesturing in front of you. âDo you have any idea what is outside...everything?â You try to picture it. All you can imagine is a black void, but what else is there outside of that? Itâs weird. âWhat if that isnât even his real body? Like he could be thisâŠthing. Like floating around? Does that make sense? Do you understand what I mean?â
Buddha nods. âI do, regarding whether it makes sense. Iâm struggling to make sense of anything. His claims about time and samsara donât make sense, but I also canât find anything that goes against his claims.â
âOh.â You blink. âSo, what is samsara? And what is supposed to be outside of it?â
âNothing is supposed to be outside it.â He pauses, then looks at you more carefully. âYou donât know what samsara is?â
You shake your head.
Buddha looks at you for a moment, visibly taken aback. âShiva isâŠâ He hesitates, his brow furrowing slightly. âNever mind.â
He exhales through his nose. âThere are six realms of existence. God realm, demi-god realm, human realm, animal realm, ghost realm, and hell.â He counts them off on his fingers as he speaks. âGod, demi-god, and human realms are considered favorable. Animal, ghost, and hell are less favorable.â
âWhat?â You frown immediately. âWhy is the animal realm less favorable? Animals are amazing. How could that be bad?â You stare at him as if heâs crazy. Animals are among the purest creatures on Earth. How could they be viewed as a bad realm?
Buddha opens his mouth, but you quickly cut in. âNo, no. Never mind. Animals are good. Thereâs nothing you can say that will convince me otherwise.â
He pauses, then raises his hands slightly in quiet surrender. âWe can revisit that another time.â He knows this isnât the moment for a detailed discussion.
His expression settles once more, serious. âThe point is that each realm is part of the same structure. Everything that exists moves through it. Except Vaeris, according to him.â
âMaybe heâs lying,â you offer.
Buddha tilts his head slightly. âNoâŠI donât think so.â
âYou donât?â
He hums softly, reaching out absentmindedly to smooth a loose strand of hair away from your face. âHe doesnât twist things. He justâŠstops.â
âStops?â
âMhm.â His thumb gently brushes your temple before he lets his hand fall. âHe answers whatâs asked. Nothing more.â
âThatâs really frustrating.â
A faint smile touches his lips. âYeah. It is.â
He nudges another book off the bed with his foot and moves closer, sitting cross-legged in front of you. âWhen I asked what he is,â Buddha continues softly, âhe said heâd tell me if it became relevant.â
âTo what?â
His eye softens slightly. âTo you.â
You blink. âThat soundsâŠprotective.â
Buddha studies your face for a moment before slightly opening his arms in silent invitation. âIt didnât feel protective,â he says carefully. âMore likeâŠa condition.â
You donât move right away, your thoughts drifting somewhere else.
He arches a brow, then leans forward and gently hooks his fingers into the hem of your shirt, tugging you closer. âCome here,â he murmurs, amused.
He pulls you close to his chest, one hand cupping the back of your head as his chin rests on top. His thumb casually brushes through your hair. âWhat do you think would make it ârelevantâ?âÂ
Relevant? You relax under his touch, staring into the distance as you try to come up with something. It doesnât make sense. Nothing about your father makes sense. âSo, you donât think my dad is protective?â
Buddha hums softly. âDoes he show any actions that remind you of Shiva?â
âHuh?â
âShiva is protective,â Buddha explains easily. âAlmost like an older brother hovering nearby.â His thumb continues its slow path through your hair. âA father would show something similar. Maybe quieter, maybe differentâŠbut itâs still there.â
âShiva is not like a brotherâŠâ
âSure.â
You groan under your breath, briefly pressing your forehead against his chest in frustration. Buddha softly chuckles above you, his sound more warm than mocking. âAlright,â he relents easily. âNot a brother.â
His fingers trail slowly through your hair again. âShiva is protective,â he says after a moment. âAnyone can see that.â He presses his lips to your temple. âSo am I.â Then his voice lowers slightly. âYour father doesnât show that instinct.â
âDad doesnât show anything.â You huff. âHe canât even give a realistic fake smile.â
Buddha is quiet for a moment. âYou told me he tried when you were younger,â he says softly.
âHe did.â You laugh lightly. âI didnât think it was weird when I was a kid; it seemed normal to me. But looking back, it was really bad. Dad canât act.â
Buddhaâs chin moves slightly against the top of your head. âThat sounds less like emotion,â he says thoughtfully, âand more like someone learning how people are supposed to behave.â
âYeah, he doesnât bother anymore, but at least he tried until I was old enough that it didnât affect me as badly as it wouldâve if he showed no emotions.â You tilt your head. âI wonder if he would fake emotions again ifââ Your mouth snaps shut.
âIf?â
You clear your throat. âSorry, I was thinking aloud. Bad habit.â
âHoneybee~ come on. Tell me.â
You shake your head against his chest. âIt wasnât important.â
Buddha hums softly, clearly unconvinced. His fingers scratch your scalp a bit, and a slight lift appears at the corner of his mouth. âIt sounded important,â he murmurs.
âIt wasnât.â
âMhm.â
You glance up at him suspiciously. âWhat does that mean?â
âIt means,â he replies easily, âI think the children you were about to mention are a very serious topic.â
Your eyes narrow instantly. Buddha chuckles under his breath before you can protest, pressing a quick kiss to your temple. âRelax, honeybee. Iâll stop teasing you.â
You huff quietly.
After a moment, he adds more thoughtfully, âBut it is an interesting question.â His chin shifts lightly on the top of your head. âIf he tried to imitate emotions for you when you were littleâŠwould he do it again for your kids?â A soft laugh escapes him. âIâd honestly like to see that.â
You move a bit in his arms, thinking it over. "I have zero idea. Dad is weirdâwhy are we talking about this?âÂ
Buddha chuckles. âYou started it.â
âI did not.â
âYou did.â
You tilt your head up to glare at him, but before you can retort again, he lowers his head and presses his lips against yours.
Itâs quick, but warm enough to steal the irritation right out of you.
When he pulls back, that faintly amused look is still there.
âDistraction,â you mutter.
âMhm,â he replies easily.
You narrow your eyes. âYouâre avoiding my argument.â
âYou didnât have one,â Buddha says calmly. âYou were about to repeat yourself.â
You narrow your eyes at him, unimpressed. Your hand slides up the back of his neck, fingers threading into the dark hair at the base of his skull before giving it a small, deliberate tug.
The reaction is immediate.
A low groan slips out before he can stop it, his arms instinctively tightening around you, pulling you closer against his chest. His chin dips slightly as he exhales through his nose, clearly aware you did that on purpose.
His fingers press a little more firmly at your waist. âDonât tease me, cutie,â he mutters, voice lower now, though the faint amusement hasnât completely left it.
You tilt your head slightly. âTease you?â you repeat.
His eye narrows just a fraction. âCareful,â Buddha murmurs.
âAnyway, about my dadââ
âReally?â
âHush.â You tug his hair again.
Another quiet sound escapes him, somewhere between a groan and a breath, his hand tightening briefly at your waist. âYou always bring him up at times like this.â
âWe were talking about him to start with. Anyway, we know even less now,â you continue, ignoring the look heâs giving you. âHeâs not human. Probably not a god. Somehow outside Samâuh.â
âSamsara.â
âRight, that.â You gesture vaguely with your free hand. âWhich apparently includes us. Humans. Gods. Animals. Ghosts. All of it.â
Buddha hums softly in agreement.
âThis is annoying.â
Buddha leans forward again, pressing his face against your neck. His warm breath caresses your skin as he speaks softly, his voice low against you. âYeah,â he murmurs.
A quiet pause settles between you as his hand shifts at your waist, his thumb tracing slow circles through the fabric of your shirt.
âBut it also means weâre asking the wrong questions.â
You tilt your head slightly, giving him a little more space against your neck. âWhat do you mean?â
He exhales softly before straightening up once more. His gaze wanders across the roomâover the books scattered everywhere. A few still sit on the bed beside you, but most have been pushed aside or fallen to the floor. Some lie open where they landed, with yellowed pages curling slightly at the corners.
âWe keep trying to figure out what your father is.â
You follow his gaze for a moment before turning back to him, furrowing your brow. âIsnât that the point?â
âMaybe,â Buddha replies calmly. His eye shifts back to you. âBut Iâm beginning to think the more important question is why heâs here.â
You look at him, unease spreading in your chest. ââŠHere,â you repeat slowly. After a brief pause, you add, a little too quickly, âLike Valhalla?â
Buddha studies your face for a moment before shaking his head once. âNo.â The answer hits harder than you expected. His thumb slows down where it had been lazily tracing circles at your side as he continues, voice thoughtful rather than alarmed. âI mean here. Inside the cycle.â
You exhale softly through your nose. âOf course you do.â You pull away from him and fall back onto the bed, narrowly missing one of the books as it slides beneath your shoulder. âI thought today was going to be relaxing. Sleep until noon, read, maybe watch the weird shows gods have on their TVs. Hell, possibly bake some cookiesââ
âIâm not stopping you from baking cookies.â
You glance over at him.
Buddha hasnât moved from where heâs sitting, one arm resting loosely over his knee as he watches you with quiet amusement.
âIf anything,â he adds casually, nudging one of the books aside with his foot, âI fully support the cookie plan.â
Of course he does. You roll your eyes at him. But then againâŠcookies do sound good right now. Your mind could use a break from everything thatâs hit you within the last hour.
You look up at the ceiling, letting your thoughts drift for a moment instead of chasing after them. Vaeris. Samsara. Missing records. Questions that donât have answers to.
ââŠI guess cookies do sound good right now,â you admit quietly.
Beside you, Buddha shifts slightly on the bed. You feel the movement more than see it. âCookies sound good anytime,â he replies easily, wrapping an arm around your waist.
You roll onto your side to face him, the movement bringing you closer until your noses almost touch. âHow am I supposed to bake cookies when youâre making yourself more comfortable with me in bed?â
A faint smile tugs at his lips. His arm tightens just enough to prevent you from rolling away as his thumb traces a slow line along your side.
âYouâre the one who laid down,â he points out calmly.
You open your mouth to argue, but the words never make it out.
Buddhaâs gaze briefly drops to your lips before shifting back to your eyes. The amusement there softens into something more subdued. His hand moves from your waist to the back of your neck, fingers lightly entangling in your hair as he closes the small space between you.
This time the kiss isnât quick.
His lips press more firmly against yours before his hand shifts, fingers tightening in the hair at the back of your neck. The slight tug pulls a soft gasp from you, and Buddha takes advantage of it immediately.
The faint grape flavor from the lollipop he had earlier still lingers as his tongue brushes against yours, his other hand slipping up along your jaw, thumb resting just beneath your cheekbone as he deepens the kiss.
When he finally pulls back, he doesnât move far, your foreheads nearly touching, his breath still warm against your lips. A second later, he leans in again, this time catching your lower lip with a quick nip between his teeth.
You pull back slightly. âYour teeth are too sharp.â
âShut up,â he teases, the words brushing against your skin as he shifts and nips lightly at your jaw instead. âYou like them.â
ââŠThey are weirdly cute on you.â You laugh softly.
âI love you.â
You open your mouth to respond, but his left hand swiftly moves up, covering it.
âAh, ah,â he murmurs, amusement warm in his voice. âI told you no.â He nudges his face against your cheek, nuzzling lightly before pulling back just enough to look at you again. âStill not ready.â His thumb brushes once along your jaw. âNowâŠabout those cookies.â
He sits up and pulls you along with him. Your eyes flick downward involuntarily, catching how his muscles shift beneath the thin fabric of his tank top as he moves.
âHoneybee,â he says lazily, noticing immediately, âyou arenât going to get to the cookies if you keep looking at me like that.â
Your eyes widen. âI wasnât lookingâI meanâlooking at what?â You glance away quickly. âI justâwhy do you always do this to me?â
âIâm not making you stare,â he replies casually.
You open your mouth to argue, then hesitate, realizing that it will probably just make it worse. ââŠHow did you even notice?â
Buddha laughs softly and swings his legs off the bed, standing. âI can always feel when my honeybeeâs eyes are on me.â
You quietly huff under your breath as you slip off the bed after him.
Before you can walk past, he catches your hand and pulls you toward him instead, the movement smooth and effortless. âCome on,â he murmurs, clearly pleased with himself. âLetâs go bake those cookies before you get distracted again.â
âI was going to bake some cookies the other day, the night before Lokiâs match.â
âYou didnât?â
You shrug. âA lot was going on. I got distracted.â Â
Buddha hums softly. âHoneybee, you get distracted pretty easily, donât you?â
âWell,â you hesitate slightly, âShiva wasnât happy that I spent the day with you.â You glance away for a moment before continuing. âThen he started talking about what happens if humans win. Did you know nothing actually happens to the gods? Humans get wiped out if they lose, but if the gods loseâŠnothing.â
Buddha raises a brow.
âOf course I knew,â he replies easily. âThe gods would never have agreed to Ragnarok if there was even the slightest chance theyâd be wiped out too.â His shoulders lift in a lazy shrug. âEven if they believed humans had no chance at all, they still wouldnât risk it.â
You huff softly. âGods are so annoying.â
âYup.â
Buddha squeezes your hand once as he pulls you toward the kitchen. âWhat kind of cookies do you want to bake?â
âProbably some that donât need to sit,â you reply. âOtherwise Iâll be stuck here for six hours waiting for the dough to come to temperature.â
âI donât see a problem with that.â
You smack his bicep, and it feels like hitting a wall. Instantly, you pull your hand back, shaking it out with a small scowl. These gods have way too much muscle. âShut up,â you mutter. âBut honestly, I prefer a recipe I can mix and bake in an hour. Donât you want cookies as soon as possible?âÂ
Buddha narrows his eye at you slightly. âAre you trying to manipulate me with sweets?â
âIs it working?â
âYup.â
Buddhaâs arm tightens around your waist as he gently pulls you closer. He turns his head and gives a teasing kiss to your cheek, completely unbothered by how your face instantly flushes. âBut that doesnât mean Iâm letting you go anytime soon,â he murmurs. âIâll just be getting my cookies as soon as possible.â
------------------------------
âOkay! I have the perfect recipe,â you announce, itâs a simple one you have memorized. âThereâs no chill time, and you should have nice warm sugar cookies in about an hour.â
You begin arranging ingredients across the counterâflour, sugar, butter, eggsâlining them out in a neat line.
Buddha leans over the counter opposite you, forearms on the cool surface as he observes with open curiosity.
âFirst stepâpreheat the oven. One ninety.â
You look up at him expectantly.
After a moment, he nods and glances at the compact oven he pulled from somewhere and set against the wall on the bar. Without fully straightening, he reaches over and turns the dial.
âNow measure out the ingredients.â
You slide the container of flour and the sticks of butter toward him while measuring the baking soda and baking powder into a bowl.
As you start whisking the dry ingredients together, you gesture toward the mixing bowl beside him.
âStart mixing the butter and sugar.â
âWhat are you doing?â you ask suddenly, staring at him like heâs committed a crime.
Buddha has already dropped two sticks of butter into the bowl and is enthusiastically pouring sugar directly over them.
âI thought I was supposed to mix them.â His eye widens slightly, confusion flashing across his face.
âThe butter is supposed to be softened,â you say, setting the whisk down. âBut since we arenât taking the time to soften it, you need to cut it into smaller pieces first.â
Buddha glances down at the bowl, then back at you.
ââŠyou didnât tell me that.â
You stare at him for a moment.
âGet out of the kitchen.â
The words come out sharp and immediate.
For a second, thereâs silence.
Then Buddha slowly steps back from the counter, raising both hands in surrender. Instead of looking offended, he settles onto the stool across from you, one elbow resting on the bar as a slow grin spreads across his face.
His eye drifts over you as you quickly return to the bowl, whisk moving fast again, focused entirely on the ingredients.
âWell,â he murmurs, clearly amused, âthis is new.â
You ignore him.
Buddha tilts his head slightly, watching you with interest, his chin now resting lazily in his palm. âDidnât know my honeybee had a strict side.â
He chuckles lightly. ââŠI like it.â
You snap your head up and give him a blank stareâone that matches your father perfectly.
But thereâs a big difference between your father and you.
Buddha winks.
Your composure immediately falls apart. Heat floods to your face as you turn back to the dough a bit too quickly. You slide the bowl toward him. âYou donât have an electric mixer. Itâs hard to mixâyouâre strong. You can help.â
Buddha pulls the bowl toward himself, clearly entertained. âYes, maâam.â
It doesnât take him long to mix it to the perfect consistency. Of course it doesnât. You puff your cheeks slightly, watching the spoon move easily through the dough, a little jealous of how effortless it looks in his hands. I canât wait to go home and use my mixer. You sigh quietly at the thought. I canât wait to go home.
Youâre pulled out of your thoughts when you see him scooping a bit of cookie dough onto his finger and eating it.
âWhat are you doing!? You canâtââ
He grins and suddenly pushes a bit toward your mouth, catching you off guard as he pushes it past your lips.
âIsnât the best part eating the dough?â
Heâs not wrong. You pause for a second before glancing back at the counter. ââŠDo you have parchment paper?â
Buddha leans back slightly on the stool. âSomewhere.â He gestures lazily toward the cabinets. âYou need to learn your kitchen, honeybee.â
You glance at him. âItâs your kitchen.â
âFor now,â he replies easily.
Then he steals another bit of dough.
---------------------
âDonât touch them! Itâs too hot.â Your eyes widen as he reaches for a cookie the second you set the pan on the counter.
Buddha pauses, staring directly into your eyes as he picks one up anyway. He doesnât even flinch as he brings it to his mouth. âIâm a god, babe.â
He takes a bite and immediately groans at the warmth and flavor. Then, without hesitation, he brings the cookie to your lips. âSo talented, ______.â
You open your mouth, the flavor of vanilla washing over your senses. Itâs soft and warm, almost melting the second it touches your tongue. His left arm slips around your waist as he holds the cookie in place. When you take another bite, he pulls it back and finishes the rest himself.
Buddha watches you quietly for a moment as you lean against the counter, your focus still on the tray of cookies. His hand gently rests against your side, fingers brushing your waist.
âYou look tired,â he says after a moment. âWant to take a nap? After we finish the cookies?â
You look at the tray, then back at him. âCan you eat thirty cookies?â
âEasily.â
You snort softly, but he just smiles and reaches for another cookie. Before taking a bite, he nudges his shoulder against yours. âTo be fair,â he adds casually, âI mightâve woken you up a little early.â
âA little?â You look up at him, the sun hadnât even fully risen yet. âI wanted to sleep till noon.â
âI had something important to talk about with you.â His grin widens. âAlsoâŠI wanted to see you.â
You roll your eyes, but the warmth of his hand remains at your waist. âCome on,â he murmurs after a moment, already reaching for the tray. âLetâs take these with us. We can take a nap.â His eye flicks toward the clock on the wall. âItâs nine now. You can still sleep until noon.â He teases.
âI couldâve had six extra hours of sleep. Now itâs only three.â You tsk, ducking slightly as he lifts one tray to dump the cookies onto the second before picking it up to carry toward his room.
âIâll find a way to make it up to you,â he promises, taking your hand with his free one.
It doesnât take long for you to fall asleep. Three cookies later, youâre curled against his chest, exhaustion finally taking over. He holds you close to his right side, his hand gently moving along your back until your breathing deepens and your body becomes completely still.
Carefully, he reaches behind his head for the pillow and slides it into place, replacing himself so you donât stir.
He moves silently to the dresser, rummaging through the scattered items until he finds what heâs looking for. Papers slide aside until the drawing of the woman appears.
His hand closes around it.
The paper crumples slowly in his grip.
Buddha exhales quietly. âManipulative bastard.â
