Both Buck and Taylor are hot people (insert Leo Snart's 'gay, not blind') but their one night stand didn't feel as intimate as Buck and Tommy.

Buck and Tommy took a breather, joked around before rushing to eat each other's face off again.

At the end of this bucktayloranniversary, the most important thing we have to celebrate is the fandom that keeps this beautiful ship alive.

The second most important thing to celebrate is that bucktaylor is and always will be canon, which is more than a lot of other ships can say!

And like the only romantic partner he said it to (their face) was Taylor and it was pretty explicitly a lie or an exaggeration at the time.

Like I do think he felt love for Taylor, but I think it was the idea of her more than the reality of her, and I think he wasn’t even quite there yet when he said it. He was trying a life on.

The bucktaylor era is so important, it brought out some of his best and his worst, and I think he regrets a lot about it (not that it happened at all but his own behavior). I think part of why he could say it to Taylor is because it wasn’t really true and so the stakes were lower. It was a toe-dip into an idea of what kind of relationship he wanted but of course it blew up in his face because he wasn’t doing things for the right reasons. But he learned from it!

And part of that learning is I think his hesitance to say it now, and his desire to do things for the right reasons.

I don’t know where they’re going with it or if they even have a plan at all, but there is something so something about the fact that in two scenes nine episodes apart, Buck was unable to say he loved someone, but his actions through the whole time have shown it. Josh asking Buck if he loves Tommy haunts me, literally haunts me, the way Buck was so taken aback and almost incredulous, but he could answer “yes” to every question that drives the same point. The way he couldn’t say it to Bobby even at the last moment, even when Bobby said it first. It’s haunting.

And in some ways I think Buck doesn’t at all love as recklessly as we sometimes think. I think he is very much impeded by fear of loss. Loving someone gives them a lot of power to hurt you, most especially by losing them.

But you can lose either way.

Buck didn’t tell Tommy he loves him, and he lost him anyway, and suffered more for this breakup than any other we’ve seen. And I think 8x11 shows that Buck and Tommy both are getting in their own way when it comes to holding on to the happiness they can give each other.

And Buck didn’t tell Bobby perhaps because he knew he was losing him anyway. And I think that’s something he’s going to have to regret and live with and learn from if he wants to ever have the kind of life and love he wants.

And the way that Buck rekindling with both of them was actually all about Eddie.

But Taylor was never threatened by Eddie. And when she found out that Eddie had been shot, she immediately offered comfort and support, not just for Buck, but for Christopher, too, when she stopped Buck from going to him without cleaning up first.

There was a lot of hate projected onto Taylor, but the reality is that she was never once threatened by Buck's relationship with Eddie. In fact, she supported it. There's evidence she cared for both of them, even if only because Buck cared for Eddie. But she supported him through the shooting. And she noticed that Eddie was struggling in 5x11 the same way Buck did and encouraged Buck to talk to Eddie with that little nod.

Taylor understood that she was entering a relationship with a man whose best friend was a major priority in his life, and she embraced that.

Tommy, on the other hand, knows better than anyone—better than Taylor ever did—just how important Eddie and Christopher are to Buck. Their entire first kiss revolved around that very fact.

And then, when they rekindle—or at least start to—Tommy recognizes immediately that Buck is struggling with Eddie being gone. He knows what Eddie means to Buck. He recognizes that they are in Eddie's house and that that means something. Before they even hook up.

And then in the morning, when Tommy hints that they should pick back up where they left off, even knowing all of that? He calls Eddie competition and implies Eddie being gone means he's gone from Buck's life for good and no longer a problem for Tommy.

Instead of looking at this man he supposedly cares about and recognizing that he's hurting and offering support, Tommy thinks only of himself in that moment.
