I don't have a lot of personal headcanon to be honest, I mostly took from other people's HC and add them to my brain pile. But if you ask what I do have...

okay so this is more or less based on NK's official mini comic abt dan making comic books of himself or ig his alter identity

what if dan actually started out as this sort of aspiring hero who dreams big but never believes in himself enough? even if he does try, he cant seem to be motivated enough for he feared that this ideal figure he was trying to became was fully out of reach. and so he tried to realize that dream/fantasy by, u guessed it, creating comic books where he gets to live as the amazing dazzling and powerful hero he has always wanted to become. even if its fictional, it soothes his pain. seeing people receive his works well was cathartic, and so he kept creating. needless to say he was thrilled to have a die-hard fan, quincy.

another thing i need to preface is that the way dan created his stories felt a lot like an autobiography, which wouldnt be far fetched given the world of btd6 w literal magic blasting monkeys lmao. that inadvertently made quincy believe that this "masqued macaque" persona actually exists and dreams of one day meeting him.

as for dan, he kept on creating, and every time seeing his works commended by readers, especially his number 1 fan, brings him an indescribable joy. he kept creating and creating and for some time it felt like he had found his purpose.

but who was he kidding, deep down he still wanted to become the hero he fabricated. the masqued macaque was everything he had ever aspired to be, and even though it was nice being able to "act out" his dreams, at the end of the day, it's all still just fictional. nothing has been real, and dan falls into depression (again?)

and so the comics went on hiatus. as a die hard fan, quincy couldnt just stand there and do nothing! he had to look for the masqued macaque! he wanted to know more! he wanted to know about everything! needless to say this fake persona of a lonesome guy with a broken dream became his idol.

now this is where things got a lil tricky for me but at some point i imagine quincy would be hanging out at dan's and maybe it'd go sth like

Q: "hey!"

D: "q-q-q-q-q-quincy! hey! what are you doing here this fine day?"

Q: "nothing particular. may i come in?"

D:"s-sure! please, come in!"

it would be a pleasant but also precarious surprise. ofc dan is always happy to see quincy (gay as fuck), but the secret he was hiding was just too much. if the cat got out of the bag, quincy would probs be heartbroken!

now i imagine dan works on his comics in a secret room in his residence (which i assume is like either a castle or a manor). and then quincy somehow finds this room and learns the truth and... well let's say sth like this happens:

Q: "the masqued macaque ..."

D: "... alright, you got me. this is my secret."

Q: "IS YOU!??!!??!?!?!?!" literal stars in his eyes

D: "wait, what?"

Q: "i cant believe it! my friend is also my idol!??!?!?!?!?!"

D: "i think there must be some misunderstanding here ..."

Q: "omg omg omg omg omg this is awesome this is great this is ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh im ur biggest fan! why didnt u tell me b4?!?!?"

D: "well, if you would just listen to me-"

Q: "this is incredible! dan, you have no idea how much of an inspiration youve been to me! i mean, the stories you put out were so insanely good and relatable i cry every time i read them!"

D: "quincy, please, could you just-"

Q: "the stories about an underdog who feared no bloons and fought with all he had using his fabulous secret powers, who stood up strong no matter how many times he fell, who <yeah u get the idea im outta juice>? seriously, you're the best! i've always looked up to you and honestly, i can only wish to be like you one day"

D: "WOULD YOU JUST F****** LISTEN TO ME?"

Q: is shocked and shuts up

D: "quincy, i need you to promise me to stay calm despite anything i'm about to say"

Q: "y-yeah! i mean, shoot! haha, get it? cuz im an archer. anw, sorry, pls go on"

D: "the masqued macaque ... isnt real"

Q: dramatic shattering in his eyes "what?"

D: "hes not real. hes just a product of my own fantasies"

Q: "but ... ur lying, right? u-ur just lying to me! oh, ik! its bcz u dont want anyone to know abt ur secret, right? i-i can just ask ezili or corvus to erase my memory! im sure they could do that, yeah? yeah!"

D: "this is all there is. my only secret is that i am a pathetic loser who cant do anything. these comics? they are nothing but a bunch of pipe dreams i can never accomplish"

Q: "no ... thats ..."

D: "face it, quincy. there is no masqued macaque. only dan d'monke, the disappointment"

anyway im lazy to continue w the dialogue but just know that after a lot of talking and breaking down and comforting dan said in was actually him who looked up to quincy and then quincy came to the decision that he would train dan to become the very hero hed aspired to be! no longer a pipe dream!

and then epic yaoi training montage!!!
