STEVE:

has the ability to conjure things out of thin air! at first he’s only able to do this when it’s funny or convenient, but he’ll become stronger later. also wields a katana!

is actually somewhat weak at first after waking up on earth, he has very little magic or memory of his abilities ever since being banished, and lacks any fellow jellicle magic to riff off of or use as a reference

for his inspiration, i went for a very “classic” magical girl vibe along with the obvious clown themes. think cardcaptor sakura, ojamajo doremi, and a little precure.

a magical girl/shoujo-adjacent song i’d associate with him is “Ojamajo Carnival!!!” (specifically the Masaaki Endoh cover)

MUNKUSTRAP:

has the ability to harness seismic energy and sound. very powerful, however it becomes dangerous when his emotions get out of hand. also wields a magic whip made of light!

went after steve after he was banished, just like in canon. i like to think he actually returns in the middle of a fight to save him.

for his inspiration, i went for a more elegant angle compared to the poofiness of steve’s design. think sailor moon, bayonetta, and touhou. in my head, he sort of functions as a “mid-season” pretty cure as well.
