Good news. We took Kobe to the vet, @modernanimal. They had to shave him a little (we informed them about his coat, so they knew to keep it minimal, but it was better to be thorough), and were worried about a possible pocket of air caused by skin separating from muscle. But that wasn’t there! There was some scabbing and puncture wounds on his back, but the vet said we did a good job cleaning it and that topical antibiotics and anti-inflammatories should be enough. Please wish @kobethenorwich a speedy recovery. 🙏 His shoulder is in a lot of pain. A bug thank you to Etton for absorbing most of the pain. A hero. He survived my first attack from a bigger dog last night. It was at the puppy group in our building that we started. A new dog-owner came by (we didn’t know that he only had the dog for 3 days—2 year old pit bull mix from the shelter). He was meeting the group on leash, and the first few interactions seemed ok. Then while still on leash, the bigger dog bit Kobe’s shoulder and wouldn’t let go for 5 mins from an unexpected position. Everyone was watching as it happened and we all immediately jumped in. The owner had the bigger dog on leash and was trying to open it’s mouth with his bare hands, so was Etton, @pennynmargot’s dad. I was holding Kobe from underneath because he was up in the air in the dog’s mouth, trying to pry his flesh from the bigger dog’s mouth and pull its jaw down from the bottom.
