Bina has had trouble expressing herself, since she realised her mesmerising presence would influence those around her to try to bend to her will. So she's interested in the idea of art; it's not something she thought about before, but now she wonders if drawing might give her a route to self-expression that could be purely personal. That's how she comes to be in a little art supply shop in the merchant district, a small rope of her hair reaching out for a pot of ink.
Her hair collides with a hand that was reaching for it too, and Bina retracts her hair, quick as a whip, and immediately she casts her gaze down, sheets of hair pulling around her face and body as if this man might not perceive her if she concentrates hard enough on pretending like nothing happened. She holds her breath.
