Volans, known as the Flying Fish, is one of the constellations added to the sky in 1597 by Dutch astronomer Petrus Placius based on observations from early Dutch explorers of the New World. It originally had the name Piscis Volans which is Latin for "flying fish"; nowadays only the "flying" part has stuck around.
Volans is the type of tropical fish that can jump out of the water and glide through the air on wings. It appears to accompany the ship Argo Navis and is being chased by the predatory fish represented by Dorado.
There is only one star with a name in Volans:
Maru (WD 0806-661) is a binary star system about 63 light years away. It consists of a white dwarf and brown dwarf companion, the only known white dwarf to have a brown dwarf companion! The brown dwarf is named Ahra. Both names were given by the people of South Korea: Maru means "sky" while Ahra means "ocean."

A well-studied cosmic object has stunned astronomers. The "failed star" Gliese 229B has been revealed to be two so-called "brown dwarfs" that are closely orbiting each other rather than just one.
The revelation means that Gliese 229B is a "first-of-its-kind" tight brown dwarf binary, increasing the hope other such exotic systems dwell in the Milky Way just waiting to be discovered. The finding also solves a long-standing mystery about Gliese 229B, explaining why this brown dwarf appears too dim for its mass.
"Gliese 229B was considered the poster-child brown dwarf," team member and California Institute of Technology (Caltech) researcher Jerry W. Xuan said in a statement. "And now we know we were wrong all along about the nature of the object. It's not one but two. We just weren't able to probe separations this close until now."

We're looking at Luhman 16B with Luhman 16A as the bright red star in the sky. The bright white star in the lower right corner is the Sun. The bright white star at the top of the image is Polaris. The Cassiopeia asterism can be seen as a "W" shape right next to Luhman 16B's limb.
Also visible are two fictional... planets? moons? (depends upon your perspective on whether brown dwarfs are stars or planets). One is a tidally locked water world, the other is volcanic like Jupiter's moon Io.

Web Hunts for the Lower Mass Limit of Brown Dwarfs
What's the lowest mass a brown dwarf could be ? Not an easy question to answer when so few are known, but JWST has been able to peer through the dust and gas of star forming regions, and pick out brown dwarfs as they are made.
Peering into the Flame Nebula, NGC 2024 it has been able to catalogue a significant number, and as the mass reduces, so does the quantity of finds, down to in or around 2-3 Jupiter masses.
The assumption is, this is the limit of size for such failed stars.
