I work in a warehouse at my college, in the production half. We make brooms, start to finish - nice, crafty, handmade ones that are expensive. Well, my boss has been gone all week because of family. My coworkers and I don’t know how to run the winder to get brooms started, and we’re coming out of inventory/auditing so stuff is packed away. No brooms to be braided/finished. Which means all we can do is clean. And clean. And there’s only so much cleaning you can do. And it’s hot as hell cause there’s no air conditioning and circulation is poor. So we take frequent breaks and get on our laptops and stuff. The warehouse director keeps poking his nose back, getting mad because we’re sitting (because he only looks when we break). He gets pissed about laptops. He’s mad because production isn’t going. We  can’t start brooms because we can’t run the machine without the boss. So there we are, getting ragged on by this spindly little man who is spitting numbers at us and we could give a shit less. We have calloused hands and dirt-smudged/dye covered faces and are sweating like pigs, and he’s the softest man I’ve ever seen who has an air-conditioned office up front. He needs to sit down and shut up.
