I honestly think that when it first started happening, Brigitte took it as something to hide, to be ashamed of because of how it impacted her physical looks. But, after speaking to her friends at the time, she realised that its moreso shameful for the person causing it. That it's because of their harmful lie, and it's something she shouldn't blame herself for when she didn't ask for the curse, nor causes it herself.

After developing this curse, and learning that it was due to other people's lies, I think she struggled with confronting people and would try and use her curse for good, like you said. It's something she doesn't want to have to do, finding negative conversations like that draining especially if the culprit denies or tries to convince her otherwise. It took her a while to undo that mindset, realising that the longer she lets them get away with the lie, the longer she has to walk around with the damage of the lie on her face.

Now, she doesn't mention the curse when meeting people, finding it to be a superpower almost. It helps her decide if people are worth being friends with, or if they're going to keep lying and causing this to happen to her over and over. It's her weapon against those not loyal to her or using her for her title in Overwatch, her connections, her abilities or her own loyalty towards them.

Often times, people who don't know Brigitte too well but know about the curse will try and treat it as though it should be a party trick, something Brigitte should be showing off to people. It makes her feel uncomfortable, detesting feeling as though she's a circus animal to be laughed at because of her ailment. It made her feel isolated for years, until she had enough and set the boundary that it's not okay, and lying to her just to laugh at her curse isn't something genuinely kind people do. If they keep doing it, just to hurt her, it makes her feel as though her words have no worth and, with encouragement from Torbjorn or Lena, she'll cut them off from her life with guilt in her heart still.

Sometimes, she likes to ask someone to lie to her, just to use her curse for good in the moment. When situations are dire and she needs to use her curse for something beneficial, she will. It's something that she hates to do, wanting to use her ‘power’ as something underlying, a secret to keep herself safe, but if others need help and it'll improve things for them, she'll oblige. She has her reservations for using the curse, but if the results are positive and benefit people properly, truly, without her being the butt of the joke, she's okay with it (eventually).

One of the most important things she's taken from the curse is how to outline what the most harmful lies to her are, and where her values truly are with friendships. For her personally, she didn't know where her values and how she felt about things in friendships before the curse. But now, she knows clearly what she's okay with and not okay with - the more hurtful the lie, the more she realises how much xyz impacts her.
