Has anyone read "The Silence Factory" and would like to chat about it?
I finished it recently and I have a few thoughts I want to share... feel free to comment here if you have any thoughts! :) (Spoilers ahead!!) I thought the ending of that book was very underwhelming. I don't really know what I expected, but kinda... more? I didn't expect Henry's relationship with Sir Edward to end well, and it didn't, so I was fine with that. But it's a bit sad that they didn't talk again, there's no proper closure. We also don't know if Mercy is alive. And Ms Fielding's ending was also not great, I wanted her to somehow be able to adopt Philomel... I don't like how Sophia's story ended, I was really hoping she'd somehow be able to get rid of her annoying husband and return to Hira... I think that would've been much better. So her ending was kind of a bummer imo. The book also was way more about motherhood/parenthood than I expected... Not sure how to feel about that. AND... there was a serpent near the factory when the flood came? And Henry saw it and then just.. didn't mention it again? As if that's normal? That felt kind of weird lol. What's up with that? At times it felt like the story was building up to something more, so the ending felt kinda too open for me? I just wanted the characters to be okay, at least some of them! But not even Ms Fielding and Philomel got to be properly happy. The author really said no one is getting a happy ending lmao... But either way, the novel was quite enchanting for the most part, and I did like it. It's just the ending that I didn't love.
