Unique piece - The potting shed: After working on the individual roof slates, trying to replicate the dry texture of slate, I've moved onto some of the key details, the first one being the timber arch that sits over the gate, I found it frames the background really nicely and once I've added some leaf detail and vines crawling over the beans it'll really pop then I feel... I felt the feel of the picture really hangs on these details and this type of garden path is something synonymous with my upbringing... This really is as simple as cutting up foamex into 2x5 mm bricks and laying them in a pattern... New unique piece - The potting shed: Building up the picture here, I really want to create the feeling of that corner of a garden and it's starting to feel like it... New unique piece - The potting shed: The bit I've been eager to get into is the brick work for my vision... To do this I've found simply scoring into foam board works a treat... For the commission piece I recently completed I did it for the garden walls and I love the detail it gives, I score with a Stanley knife and then go in with a screwdriver to widen the mortar lines... Honestly so happy and I get that sense of achievement from creating these... Commission: Toys & Games of Worcester' (1/24 scale) Brickwork! It's been a bit of fun doing this so far! I started off stippling a burnt orange mix all over the primed clay before starting to put lighter tones on top. I used a sponge to get the varied tones. I dropped in a black wash to get in all those mortar lines. I paid close attention to the top few rows having white mortar lines... 👌 Still some dry brushing to go on this brickwork.
