Bare with me as I am about to get a little vulnerable, and I’d appreciate very much if you read until the end!

I’d like to finally share this fic that I’ve been working on for a long time, I think I started it about 2 years ago.

There was a point in time where I wasn’t sure I’d ever finish it, let alone share it with you all.

When the idea for this came to me, it was just that- an idea. But soon it became much more. It became my reality. I don’t think I’ve ever related to a character like this before.

At the end of the summer I unexpectedly and tragically lost my brother. He was a brother, husband, and father to one young son and one on the way. My new nephew was born just two weeks later.

In the aftermath of losing my brother, I couldn’t bare to continue writing this fic. I couldn’t believe that one of the major things that happened in this fic had happened in my real life. I almost felt guilty, like I had manifested it in a way. Luckily I had the support of my wifey @snowflakenali and was encouraged to now continue this fic for therapeutic reasons.

Although my situation is different than the fic, I still felt a connection to my characters. My sister in law is alive and well, and her boys are taken care of, but I have taken on a role that could be seen as parental. I do the best I can to help my brothers little family.

So here it is. The fic that I didn’t know I could finish. If you’ve made it this far, I hope that you read and enjoy the fic.
