my hot take: mikannie as a ship isn't as toxic in canon as people call it
hear me out
yes they tried to kill each other multiple times but because they were forced to by circumstances. they never wanted to fight but they had to because of the cruelty of their world, they faced it at such a young age: mikasa lost her family, her comfort place twice and annie didn't even have a chance to taste any comfort because her adoptive father raised her as a weapon
"I'll pray...that situation never comes"
"I'm hoping...for the same thing, too. I really do...I hope for it with all my heart"
"Annie...Please, fall"
on the surface they're both stoic, stubborn and determined and their personalities clash mostly because they're on opposite sides of a conflict. but when they're finally working together in s4 we see them being vulnerable with each other and showing raw emotions
"I don't want to fight anymore. I don't want...to have to be prepared to kill you again"
not to mention the fact that they share pretty the same motivation "go through all hardships no matter what to achieve peaceful life". they understand each other like nobody else would
"I understand your feelings well. Me too"
and i am #1 mikannie postrumbling fluffangst truther. because they would both feel a void in their souls after ending their unhealthy attachments (that formed because of the childhood trauma that heavily affected their personality) by themselves: mikasa killed eren, and i really want to believe that annie cut ties with her abusive father
losing their core motivation, struggling to adapt to the new world, feeling like a lost girls once again
they'll finally found comfort and acceptance in each other
